RedPack Toss in the Flavor Promotion and a Recipe

I received samples of RedPack products to complete this post. No other compensation has been received.

It’s hard to believe that this weekend is Memorial Day weekend. Some will say, the unofficial start of summer. There will be more than a couple picnics going on this weekend. Are you tired of taking the same boring pastas salad or fruit salad to picnics? Redpack has some tasty recipes that will give you lots of ideas to change up your picnic sides.

RedPack sent me a kit so I could try one of their “Toss in the Flavor” recipes. They all sounded amazing from the Panzanella (Bread Salad) to the Mandarin Chicken Pasta Salad. The one that I just had to try was the Southwest Quinoa Salad.

New Renuzit Pearl Scent

I received the below mentioned product as part of the Purex Insiders blogger program.  Any opinions expressed are my own.

I love being able to add fragrance to my house.  Especially when I don’t have to worry about a flame or having an outlet available.  New renuzit pearl scents give you the option for a lot of fragrance in a stylish container.

Renuzit pearl scents come in 5 different fragrances: Blue Sky Breeze (which I received), Serenity, Sparkling Rain, Tranquil, and Seductive Pineapple.  When you buy your Renuzit pearl scent you just have to unscrew the top off, peel off the protective barrier and replace the lid.  Then set it where you want some extra fragrance.

Have any of you seen those gel-like beads that are used in some kids toys like orbeez or Xploderz toy guns?  That is exactly what these pearls look like  I feel like, as a mom of a toddler myself, I need to throw out this disclaimer.  If you’re using these somewhere with little curious hands, be sure to put them up where little ones won’t mess with them.  I initially had mine sitting on a shelf in the living room (pictured above). Now the shelf is mounted to the wall above an arm chair.  My 2 year old daughter climbed up on the arm of the chair ans started pulling off the votive holders pictured.  This scared me because she’s quite smart.  She can open containers.  The lid screws off very easily and the beads could look like a toy or candy to a little one.  I moved it to the top of the microwave stand.

I feel like they should have a protective barrier like a plastic shaker type top under the screw off top.  That’s my soapbox for now .  If you don’t have little ones to worry about or you know just where to put these so little ones can’t get them they pack a nice fragrance. The container is pleasant to look at. The bright colors would perk up any room.  I’ve had my Blue Sky Breeze open for over a week now and you can still smell it as soon as you walk in the room.

Need Ideas for Mother’s Day? What AboutEssential Oils?

I received the below mentioned products in order to complete this review.  This post only gives suggestions and is not meant to give medical advice. Any opinions expressed are my own.

The use of essential oils has become more popular over the last few years.  I myself went from not really even knowing what essential oils were to incorporating some into my daily life.  Essential oils have been used on products for years: perfumes, bath products, cleaning products, massage oils, etc.  Essential oils can be used for everything from relaxation to cleaning, helping wounds heal to beauty routines.

When buying essential oils though you want to find pure essential oils.  Puritan’s Pride has 100% pure essential oils and carefully crafted blends.  Puritan’s pride also offers carrier oils which are recommended for some applications, diffusers, and other essential oil accessory products.

I received 5 of their 100% pure essential oils: Beramot, Rosewood, Lemongrass, Lavender, and Geranium.

Puritans Pride Essential Oils

I was pretty familiar on different uses for Lavender and Lemongrass but the other essential oils were a little more foreign to me.  The Bergamot oil is labeled as being “uplifting”.  I loved the scent of this one.  I put small dab on my pulse points before going to work.  I also liked using this in my essential oil diffuser during the day.  The scent really did perk me up.

The one I was hesitant about was the Geranium.  If I’m to be perfectly honest, smelling it straight out of the bottle was not pleasant to me.  So I started looking up ways to use Geranium oil.  One thing I found that was interesting to me is that it can be used to make a toner for your skin.  As I was in need of some toner anyway I decided to give it a try.  I mixed a drop or two of Geranium oil with a about a half teaspoon of argon oil and used it on my skin after my shower.  It had a tingling feeling.

Lavender essential oil has always been a favorite in our house. I like to put a drop on mine and hubby’s pillow at night before we go to bed.  I also enjoy using it in my diffuser in our bedroom. While reading more about the oils I found the Rosewood oil is said to have healing properties working as an analgesic,  antiseptic, and antifungal.  It also has antibacterial properties.  It can also be uplifting just apply a drop to the temples. You an add a few drops of any of these oils to your bath, a diffuser, or in a carrier oil such as grapeseed oil, jojoba oil, or sweet almond oil.  So guys, get the mother of your child some essential oils for mother’s day.  Help her relax and maybe get a few points by making a refreshing lemongrass massage oil and then offering a massage.  Get up early, put a few drops of uplifting Beramot in a diffuser in the bedroom. You and the kids and make her breakfast in bed.  When it comes to mother’s day I don’t need expensive gifts, I want time with my kids and my hubby.  I’d much rather these type of thoughtful actions to show they care than expensive jewelry or flowers.  Then I can use the essential oils for my skin care, me-time, making safer cleaning products, and whatever else I want.

New Dial For Kids Products

I received the below mentioned products as part of the Purex Insiders blogger program.  Any opinions expressed are my own.

We use Dial products in our house we love the kids’ body washes, the hand soaps, and adult body washes.  Dial for kids now has a new body wash for baby and new hand wash for kids.

Dial Baby is a body and hair wash with a gentle formula.  It’s tear free, hypoallergenic, paraben free, fragrance free, and ph balanced just for babies.  I used this on boy my 2 year old daughter and my 5 year old son. They both have eczema. My son gets itchy patches on his skin so I still have to wash his clothes in baby detergent and I only use those dryer balls to dry his clothes in the dryer.  This wash truly had no scent or color to it at all but worked great.  The only thing is, they only work if you get your kids to use them right? Making it fun always gets kids to be more willing to do the things they’re supposed to. No big secret right?  That can go for anything from cleaning up their room to brushing their teeth.

I talked to my little ones germs that can make them sick but they can be like super heroes and protect themselves against germs by doing things like washing their hands after using the bathroom, washing their bodies, and brushing their teeth.  They become “The Germ Defenders”

Dial Baby Body and Hair Wash

Sure my daughter is only 2 but she wants to do everything my 5 year old son does.  I can’t say the word “shower” around her without her jumping in the shower with someone.  She really doesn’t care who it is.  Even if I give her her own bath or shower she wants to climb into the tub with someone else.  Right now it’s good for her to join in bath tub with my son. Since she wants to do everything he does she tries to wash herself.  She usually just wipes her face and arms a bit but hey, it’s a start.

I talk to my son about washing his hands and feet, face, and well everywhere really.  He still has some trouble washing his own hair so I help with that.  He’s at a point where he wants to try to do everything by himself.  I usually let him try then I get the areas I don’t think he cleaned very well.

Then onto hand washing.  ALL my boys, I hate to say, I have to remind to wash their hands.  They’re usually pretty good about washing their hands when they help me cook but I don’t think they always do in the bathroom.  Anything I can do to get them to wash their hands.  Dial Kids Foaming hand wash is comes in a fun water melon scent or “watery melon” as the bottle states.  The kids like the foam soap.  Something different I guess.  I talk to my youngest son about how to wash his hands.  I told him “Wash with warm water that helps scare the germs away. The hand soap gets the ones that won’t leave.  Germ defender vanquish the germs to protect your body.
