UPMC Health Plan has a very cool and unique contest going on on their facebook page, the UPMC Health Plan Individuality contest. I love the idea and think it’s going to be fun to see what kind of submissions come through. They want you to enter too! It’s not hard. All you have to do is submit in the form of a paragraph, picture, or video to show why you are a one-of-a-kind unique individual. What makes you, you?

I’ve blogged about CommonKindess.com a few times already but for anyone just hearing about it for the first time, CommonKindness.com is a coupon site with a twist. When you set up your free account on their site, you can choose a charity. When you print and redeem coupons a donation is made to the charity you choose. They have a huge list of charities to choose from including local charities. I’m supporting my local hospital that’s just a few blocks from my house to help buy lifesaving equipment and more.

Right now CommonKindness.com is having a fun contest going on. When your printing your coupons from their site you might just come across a Gold Coupon. This contest started 5/7/13 and will continue for 9 days. There will be 4 gold coupons posted at random times throughout the day and each gold coupon will only be available to print for 15 minutes, so if you find one, you better print it fast. There will be 2 winners per coupon. If you are one of the lucky winners, you’ll get $10 cash.

Mother’s Day present ideas for under $25

I’m a mom of 4, 3 boys and 1 newborn baby girl. Mother’s day is coming up next month. I always have a bunch of idea of things I want or need then when the question comes up “What do you want for Mother’s Day?” I always have trouble trying to think of things.

I don’t like my hubby to spend a lot of money. As far as my kids go they usually make me something which is always the best. I’ve kept so many homemade mother’s day presents. Since this is a frugal blog I wanted to suggest some Mother’s Day gift ideas for under $25.

Of course there are things that are free that really mean the most like just spending time with mom and making something on your own. But if you’re really looking to buy something here’s some ideas that I know I’d like:

iTunes gift card — I love listening to music when I clean, workout, or waiting somewhere. iTunes gift cards are great for me because I can use them to download music, fun apps for my phone, or cool ring tones. Something I probably would not splurge on on my own.

Gift certificate to get my hair or nails done — again, something I probably would not spend the money on on my own. I like to go to walk-in hair places like Master Cuts to get my hair done because it’s hard for me to squeeze in time for myself anyway. $25 would be plenty for me to get a wash and a cut or a simple manicure.

Family jewelry — There are so many clever family oriented jewelry pieces out there now in the etsy shops, origami owl, and more. I’m really loving the metal pendants with your child’s finger print on it and the hand stamped necklaces with your kid’s names on them. You can find there in a lot of different places for a reasonable price.
