Kellee Maize — Aligned Archetypes Album Review and Giveaway: Go Pittsburgh! 10 winners US—CLOSED

If I asked you to name a hip-hop artist from Pittsburgh, you might be hard-pressed to come up with a name.  Now, how about a female hip-hop artist.  Even harder, right?

Into the blank, you can insert: Kellee Maize.  If you read through Kellee Maize’s bio you find that she moved to Pittsburgh as a teen.  Went to college at the University of Pittsburgh.  Worked for a Pittsburgh paper and eventually became an Events and Promotions Director.  Along with various personal life struggles she says she found an outlet through writing and music.  She has also founded a socially conscience, female owned and operated company called “Nakturnal” that has turned into a leading marketing and events organization for the area.  There is much more to this story.  Read on here: Kellee’s Bio.   While you’re there, explore her “archetypes” pictured throughout this post.

Now Kellee Maize is the #1 female hip hop artist on Amazon.com in the last month and has been in the top 10 on Amazon.com for 6 months!  Try something for me will ya?  Go to google.com  and google “female rapper”.  See what comes up.  Go ahead, I’ll wait…..

What did you see?  Kellee Maize right, as number 1?  If you didn’t, you didn’t do the search.  That’s ok, I’m happy you trust me 🙂

Kellee Maize’s album Aligned Archetypes is a collection of music influenced with House, Reggae, R&B, Hip Hop, and more along with her strong female lyrics.  Her spiritualism also spices her music.

Oliver’s Labels Review

There are many companies that offer labels now. Mailing labels, personalizations, labels for containers, whatever.  While most of them are nice, there’s really nothing that seemed to set company “A” apart from company “B”.

I had the opportunity to try Oliver’s Labels.  They had really cute designs to choose from.  Click here to check out the designs available from Oliver’s Labels.  I chose the Transportation set to label items for my youngest.  I had read on the site that their labels were waterproof.  I thought, well, there’s an added benefit that not all labels have.  I received my set in the mail. The set I got to review included shoe labels, original labels, clothing labels,  and mini labels.

The first thing I did was to stick one on one of my son’s sippy cups.  He has a cousin about the same age.  It’s sometimes not easy to tell who’s things are whose.

The labels are well made and almost felt like a thin plastic.  I was skeptical as to how well they would really stay on the items.  The sippy cup above has been washed at least 10 times since the label had been applied.  The label still looks like the day I put it on the cup.

The next thing I did was to test out the clothing label.  I took one of the clothing label tabs I put it on the tag in my son’s zip-up hoodie.

I was impressed with the way it stayed in his jacket.  I thought for sure it would peel off and I’d find it stuck to his shirt when I took it off.  The label is still in place even after wearing it about 4 times since the label was placed.

The shoe labels were very cute.  Feet shaped, they are meant to stick on the soles of shoes.  I placed them in my son’s shoes.  Again I thought, these would not stay.  With him creeping around, constantly undoing his shoes, and such, I thought the labels would have gone missing the first time he wore them.  Again, they are still in tact and do not seem to bother my son at all.

Here he is at a local farm we went to for their pumpkin fest wearing the jacket and shoes with the labels on.

Another added benefit of Oliver’s Labels is the optional Found-it code that can be added to the labels.  It is a free and optional service Oliver’s Labels offers.  It’s a lost and found code.  If someone finds an item with the label that has the Found-it code, there is a message on the tag that directs the person to go to olivers labels website.  The person types in the code that’s on the label and you receive an email alert that tells you someone found the missing item.

I’m not aware of any other label company that offers this free service.

They offer many other tags as well such as: Safety wristbands, bag tags, Kosher kitchen, labels, custom photo labels, iron-on clothing labels, allergy stickers, and more.

Where to buy:  You can purchase Oliver’s Labels through their website:  www.oliverslabels.com

Review Summary:   Oliver’s Labels definitely get the thumbs up from me.  Durable, cute, personalizable, the optional found-it code, and only $19.99 for 40 of the original labels.  This item is a good deal.  With the found it code and stay put labeling, they will probably ending saving you money in the long run.  (Really, I mean how many times have you picked your kid up from daycare or the babysitters and they didn’t know what happend to your child’s favorite sippy cup or bottle only to discover it was sent home with another child).

These would be great to add to a mom-to-be’s gift or even get them for yourself for those moochers in the office.

***I received a set of personalized Oliver’s labels at no cost to complete a proper review.  I did not receive any monetary compensation for this post.  All opinions expressed are my own. ***

Halloween Money Savers from Sophia of Trading Cradles

I received this article from Sophia of Trading Cradles and have permission to publish this post.  It has some nice little tips to keep the cost down on Halloween.

5 Ways for Parents to Cut Halloween Costs and Double the Fun!

Halloween can get expensive! In fact, experts claim that in 2009, on average Americans spent over $55 per person on Halloween. If you have a family of four, you know that things can ad up fast! Knowing that everyone is watching their budget these days, TradingCradles.com wanted to give 5 suggestions on how to make your Halloween half as expensive and twice as much fun!

1. Sell Your Old Costumes

What better way to pay for this year’s Halloween then by selling last year’s costume? Did you know that Saturday October 9th is National Costume Swap Day? Visit our hip online marketplace for parents at www.tradingcradles.com to sell old costumes and buy gently used ones. Posting a costume won’t take more than 30 seconds and the site is completely free!

2. Make Your Own Costume

Do you have a little more time on your hands? Do you like to get crafty? What we loved about this Parents.com article is that it had 20 great DIY Halloween costume ideas with pictures of each costume to go along with the instructions. Take a look! http://awe.tc/cKpGn1

3. Give Creative Treats

There will be plenty of candy in circulation, so let’s give the dentists a break in November. Think different. Here’s a truly green way to celebrate Halloween: Give the gift of seeds that can grow into beautiful flowers. Just buy a few packs at your local nursery, separate the seeds, wrap them and give them out like little presents. It’s educational and affordable! You can surprise the trick or treaters by giving them spare change that’s been lying around the house. To make it even more fun hide a dollar bill or something special in a couple baggies and tell the kids before they pick one.

4. Make Your Own Candy Bags

As kids, we used pillowcases and the same orange pumpkin every year. The folks at ehow have some good ideas on how to create an awesome trick-or-treat bag for all your Halloween goodies. http://awe.tc/9hpmOR

5. Spooky Decorations

Get your kids to help with this one. Sometimes the preparation can be as much fun as Halloween night. And, if you make your house feel fun and spooky kids will enjoy themselves that much more. Here are some cool ideas from Country Living. One of our favorite ideas here is how they put costumes on the family pictures! http://awe.tc/9sCeLN

Remember to take photos and enter them into the Trading Cradles Halloween Costume Contest! It’s easy and you could win a $50 gift certificate that will help you save for the next holiday! To learn more about the contest visit http://awe.tc/9jfpKq

Create good memories with your kids, and when they grow up they can carry on the traditions that you have taught to them with their own families! Don’t forget to brush your teeth…
