Holiday Guide 2015

Tuesday December 1, 2015 is Giving Tuesday.  The day when, after we’ve all bought our gifts during the Black Friday and Cyber Monday frenzy, we donate to a cause for the holidays.

On Giving Tuesday (December 1) for every donation made by phone 1-888-511-6588 or through World Vision website: worldvisiongifts.org it will be matched by Thirty-One Gifts-a direct selling company with a donation of one or more of it’s products like a tote bag or blanket up to a toal of $1 million worth of products for women and girls in need around the world.

You may be asking, why the need?  What is a tote or blanket going to do?  Tote bags like the one included in the giveaway, have recently been distributed to volunteers in Burundi who use the totes to carry materials for educating families about malnutrition. Before the totes, volunteers had to carry all their materials by hand. The totes make it easier for volunteers to carry the materials they need to each home.

Thirty-One Gifts was founded on the principle of helping women. In 2012, they founded a philantropic initiative called Thirty-One Gives. To date they have donated more than $80 million dollars in cash and products to non-profit organizations that empower women and girls and support families. The tote featured in this post is part of the Thirty-One gives line with 31 cents of each purchase going to the Thirty-One Gives fund. You can find more info at thirtyonegifts.com

The Zip-Top Organizing Utility tote is  versatile.  Use it for school, use it for work, use it as a diaper bag, use it as an overnight bag.  I personally love this tote.  This week my oldest son was admitted to Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh.  We spend 3 days there. I used this bag.  Every day I took a change of clothes in case I needed to stay.  I also took my phone charger, every day makeup, toiletries, and some activities for my son to do.  It also held my wallet, phone, and my card I needed to get in and out of the PICU that my son was in. There was still plenty of space.  Even with all that, this bag was not too bulky.  In my opinion, it was the perfect size.  It’s light weight but well made.

  1. I think I would do Address poverty in America- of School Supplies for USA because education is important.

  2. I would donate to Where Most Needed-Education. I’m a substitute teacher and also going to school for teaching, so this is a cause that speaks dear to my heart. Everyone deserves an education.

  3. Most Needed.I could not imagine not having clean water. What a basic need we take for granted

  4. honestly, I would give help where needed, I think that the organization would do a great job of donating to most needy cause. But I am also passionate about education for women.

  5. I would give for Education- because like Maya Angelou said, “When you KNOW better, you DO better.”

  6. Poverty in America. I have a job where I deal with the homeless and families living in poverty every day. You learn very quickly how many of our everyday basic essentials we take for granted. I have a goal to try and do something for another person every single day, no matter how small that thing may be.

  7. I would donate to clean water fund but there are so many great ones that could use the donations!

  8. It makes me very sad to read about poverty in America. I would give toward necessities.

  9. I firmly believe in taking care of our own problems, so I would give to Poverty in America

  10. I would give for any and all medical care if possible. It is what is close to my heart as I work in healthcare

  11. Every Christmas you have them family members who say “oh don’t get me anything, I don’t need anything” 5 years ago I started donating a gift from World Vision in their name. In a card I put a copy of the donation saying I gave your gift to someone who does need something. This year I donated a cow, chickens, fresh water and urgent medical care. My nephew asked if he could send chickens this year for Christmas instead of a video game he wanted.

  12. I would pick Share clothing and shelter. I think they need to have clothes to protect against the elements.

  13. If I could, would donate to Career Training for Girls and Women because when women are able to support themselves and their children it changes so many things in society.

  14. Due to the recent events and societal bias against refugees, I would choose to donate to the Refugee Response charity!

  15. I would donate to Water and Sanitation because I know there are a lot of countries that need help in this area. It’s really a shame that in this century we still need to help country with the basic need for clean water and sanitation.

  16. I would donate where clean water and basic needs are needed for babies, children, and moms. I would also love to see homes and safe places built for children who are at risk for abuse and sex trafficking.

  17. I would choose poverty in America. I come from a very poverty stricken area so I see how it impacts people’s lives every single day.

  18. Id give to where most needed. I love World Vision and everything they stand for. Thank you for the chance 🙂
