Portable Search Light from Viatek

I don’t know about you but flashlights seem to be a hot commodity in our house. It seems no matter how many we have I can never find one when I need it. Why? The kids love to use them. They use them to search for things under their bed or something that slipped under the couch. My youngest son likes to use flashlights when he pretends he’s camping in our living room. The boys will sometimes use them with other pretend play as well. I don’t mind when they use them but PLEASE put it back so we have it in an emergency!

Another issue with our flashlights, the batteries. When I do find one it seems like the battery is just about dead. So when I had the chance to review the Portable Searchlight from Viatek, I said absolutely.

The Portable Searchlight from Viatek is actually a lantern and searchlight in one. This handy little device is great to use in your house, on a camping trip, or in your garage.

You can see that it looks like a lantern. It has a big easy to grip handle on the side. The button you see on the front is the on/off button. Push it once the lantern turns on, push it again the search light turns on, a third time to shut it off. The search light part is located on the “bottom” of the lantern.

This search light has a crank on the side that actually charges it. Spin it quickly for a minute to get 20-30 minutes of light. When you’re ready to use it again, just turn the crank. I took some pics of my youngest son “camping” in the living room with the portable search light.

He had to have “chips” to survive while camping. He said “mommy can my chips be in the picture” lol. I love the versatility of this light. I really LOVE the fact that you don’t have to put batteries in it all the time. It’s bigger than a regular flashlight so it doesn’t get lost in our house. The portable searchlight comes in a number of colors too.

You can adjust the handle on the side (pictured on the left side of the lantern in the picture above) to make it more comfortable to use the searchlight. My only complaint is that the button is pretty stiff. My youngest son would never be able to adjust it himself. I have squeeze it pretty good to push the button in enough to adjust the handle. The light is certainly bright enough to find that earring you dropped on the floor, shed some light on the car engine in your garage, or find your way to a tree at night while camping but it’s not super bright where you can see for half a mile with it. It’s perfect for every day use.

It’s made tough. We’ve already dropped it and it survived a few days in my boys’ bedroom so as far as I’m concerned, I think it’s pretty durable.

I chose these Sterling Silver Rainbow Moonstone Earrings. When I received my order though, I was impressed with absolutely everything. When my earring arrived they came with a gorgeous red jewelry pouch that was quite thick. It was NOT cheaply made. They came with a gift box. One thing I was actually quite thrilled with is that it came with two sets of clear rubber backs. Why was I excited about this? Well they’re hook style earrings and the hook earrings will sometimes slide out of my earrings when brushing my hair back or even just bending over. I thought this was an extra step in helping you protect a great piece of jewelry. I wanted to try to get you a close up of these earrings. I honestly think they are better looking in person than on the website. You can just see the beautiful glow of the moonstone. I put 2 different color backgrounds with it. In the top one you can really see how the blue pulls the blue tones out f the earrings. You can see some of that with the red also. These earrings would go with a number of outfits. I thought these were the perfect size for me. They are solid sterling silver. They have some weight to them for their size. I just love my earrings from Sitara Collections. Wall Art Prints from Minted

We’re in the process of giving our bathroom a facelift. Our house is very old and a lot of the decor is decades old. We put some wainscoting around the wall and I chose a nice lavendar color for the top of the wall. We got some new flooring to put down and a new bathroom set. Even some new lighting and soon new shelving. The one thing I think, that will finish it off is a nice piece of wall art. I know just where I want to hang it. But where to find nice wall art that doesn’t break the bank?

Minted has a nice selection of beautiful wall art. Everything from black and white pictures to abstract looks. They have wall art that would be just right for the kitchen, a kid’s bedroom, or anywhere really. I was looking over to see if they had something that would fit in with the color and style of my bathroom. They had lots of things for me to go with. What’s nice about Minted is that you can choose from an option of sizes. You can choose if you want it framed or not. If you do want it framed, you can choose the color of your frame. Some of them, like the one I picked above, even have 3 different color schemes you can choose from.

While browsing through this one caught my eye as well. I guess it’s because it’s been so cold here in PA. I loved to get the biggest one they have and maybe put it in our bedroom. Maybe with the natural premium wood frame so it looks like sand or maybe the charcoal finish so it looks like drift wood. Either way, how relaxing would this picture be in a home?

Pinch-Not Bumper Child Safety Device for Doors

As parents we try to make our homes as safe as we can for our kids. Especially babies and toddlers who may not know any better or their curiosity just gets the best of them. The American College of Emergency Physicians states that children under 5 have the highest rate of finger amputations in hospital ERS, 75% of these are young children getting their fingers caught, jammed, or crushed in opening and closing doors. That is is a scary statistic for me. I’m a mom of 4 including a 4 yr old and an 11 month old.

I do my best to baby proof. We’ve had cupboard locks in the kitchen for years. As soon as they start crawling the baby gates go up. I’m constantly nagging my kids about leaving small parts and toys in baby’s reach, and I installed corner guards on all the furniture corners I thought baby could possibly bump into. Short of locks on doors, and keeping certain doors in the house closed, I figured we were pretty safe. After reading the statistic in the first paragraph, I was glad I found Pinch-Not Bumper.

Pinch-Not door bumper is a door safety device to prevent little ones from pinching their fingers in opening and closing doors . The one I received is meant to go on the side where the door knob is. It prevents the door from shutting completely and leaves a gap about 2 inches wide so there is plenty of room. Even if the kids are playing and one accidently slams a door on the other they’re not going to pinch their fingers. This is super easy to install. It doesn’t require any doors at all and seems like it would fit just about any door. I did a short 2 minute video to show you just how Pinch-Not bumper works and how you install it.

Pinch-Not makes other door safety devices too. As I mentioned in the video, they also have one for the side of the door by the hinges. That gap you get when the door is opened then it disappears when the door is closed, yep they make one for that side too. I love the one I received. I love that you can flip it so if you need to close the door the whole way you can. Very clever design, very well made. I really can’t say enough about this product. This child safety product is reasonable at only $5 a piece.
