Roxanne D. Howard is a romance novelist who resides in the mid-western

United
States. She is a RWA PAN member. She loves to read poetry, classical
literature, and Stephen King. She is also an avid Star Wars fan,
musical theater nut, and loves everything related to marine biology.
She is the proud mother of two beautiful girls, several pets, and
loves to spend time with her husband and children when she’s not writing.

She kept her head high, as her mom always told her.
Chin up, my girl. Always chin up.
She’d put on a pair of black pants and a white wraparound blouse with a nice empire waist for
the occasion. They presented her with a beautifully crafted glass award from RTNA, the Radio
and Television News Association of Southern California, for her coverage on Syria. There’d
been an awards ceremony put on by the RTNA, but she missed it when she was overseas. Her
hands didn’t shake when she took the award, but despite her confidence, tears welled up. A
year ago, she would have considered this a pipe dream. Richard stood aside and indicated she
should say a few words.
Piper took a deep breath and moved toward the microphone. She cleared her throat and looked
up. “Thank you. I—”
The first person she saw was Jack Spencer. He leaned against the wall on the other side of the
room wearing dark jeans, a dark-blue T-shirt, and a black sports jacket. Time froze, and she
stared. Her emotions battled it out, elation, anger, resentment, and a burning desire all fighting
to the surface. Beneath it all, the magnetic zing which they’d had between them from the
beginning resurfaced at full force. His face beamed with pride, and it hit her right in the heart.
Piper blinked, and a few tears escaped. Maybe he’d come to make amends?
She looked around at the audience of her peers, who appeared to notice the exchange. “My
time in Syria taught me about what it means to be grateful for what we have here. Thank you so
much for this award. I’m grateful to my team of amazing cameramen and behind-the-scenes
staff, and also to my fellow anchors, Hakeem Patel and Melinda Schaffer, who were my home
front throughout the whole experience. This award means a lot to me, more than any of you
could ever know. I hope our segments we did in Syria have stoked enough awareness about the
crisis with the refugees. Not everyone will always agree about a decision, but when it involves
children, I feel like we have an obligation to do our utmost to help. Thank you.”
She stepped away to applause. But instead of going back to her table, she kept right on
walking. Straight toward Jack.

looked forward to the bright future ahead of her. She had just
graduated high school and was about to start college along with her
twin brother Joshua and all of their closest friends. Life couldn’t
be better. That is until the night she was brutally raped and left
for dead. After surviving that tragic experience, Lacey feels broken,
dirty, and unworthy of love, but she soon discovers that the attack
has also left her pregnant. Now she must make the most difficult
decision of her life, abort the pregnancy or keep her baby.

My
name is Mindy M. Mather,

I
have always enjoyed writing, ever since I was a young girl. As I got
older I took a liking to Romance Novels specifically and decided that
I wanted to write my own.

My
first novel, A Tragic Miracle, actually started out as a Sims 2
Machinima series that I made in 2008 and later decided to turn it
into a book. It is one of my best stories, but I have many more that
I am in the process of finishing.

I
hope that all of you will enjoy my books and if your interested in my
sims 2 videos, they are on youtube. My youtube name is TMP200000.

Lacey and Joanna waited for what seemed like hours before the doctor called them in. She was
stuck with a needle and had to pee in a cup so they could take some basic tests and see if they
could find anything wrong. Lacey bravely acquiesced to the poking and prodding. Waiting was the
hard part. Joanna sat on a stool across from Lacey who sat on the examination table still looking as
if she would fall over at any moment.
“I hope I’m okay.” Lacey sighed, exhaling a slow breath as another wave of nausea swept over her
senses.
“I’m sure you’re fine, you’ve probably just got a bad case of food poisoning, you have been eating a
lot of junk from the campus café, who knows how well they keep their food stored.” Joanna replied,
trying to help her not to worry so much.
The doctor walked in and washed her hands in the sink before she turned and faced Lacey with a
half-smile on her face.
“Hello ladies, I’m Doctor Hanson, I’m filling in for Doctor Gregorson today.” She introduced herself.
“Miss Tomlin, we’ve run some tests and everything seems to be fine.” She said noticing the relief in
Lacey’s eyes. “We did, however, discover something.”
Lines of worry covered Lacey’s forehead.
“What is it Doctor? What do I have?”
“One of the tests came back positive.” Doctor Hanson paused briefly. “You’re eight weeks pregnant.”
She answered waiting for Lacey to digest the news.
“What?” Lacey gasped in disbelief. “Pregnant? No, that can’t be right.” She shook her head knowing
that the test had to be wrong. “That isn’t possible, are you sure Doctor Hanson? Because Doctor
Gregorson said that I would never be able to have children.”
“I’m sorry Miss Tomlin, but the test is not wrong, you are very pregnant.” Doctor Hanson frowned at
being questioned as if it were an insult.
“It has to be wrong Doctor Hanson! Lacey is a virgin…right Lacey?” Joanna asked, looking at her
friend for confirmation.
Lacey had worked so hard to block out the memory of that night that even her friends had dismissed
the possible consequences. Lacey was too stunned to speak.
“Your file says that you were raped two months ago.” Doctor Hanson cut in, violating the doctor
patient confidentially code, but Lacey was too much in shock to care. “I’m sorry, but you must have
conceived during that experience, if you haven’t had any other sexual experiences that is.” She
paused still observing Lacey’s silence. “And after being told that you wouldn’t be able to have
children…” She continued not seeming to take her patient’s feelings into consideration. “I would
think that this would be good news, I understand considering the circumstances…”
“Just shut up already!” Lacey shouted and hopped down from the examination table. “I don’t want to
remember that horrible night!” She cried, running out of the room without a backwards glance.
“Lacey! Wait! Please!” Joanna called after her as she followed her quickly leaving the room. She
caught up to her in the waiting area and went to her. Lacey broke down as sobs fiercely shook her
body and her breath caught in her gut.
“Lacey, I’m so sorry.” Joanna said embracing her. She held her friend as she cried. “You never said
you were raped, you acted as if nothing happened, but I thought maybe…I didn’t want to believe
it…”
Lacey pulled away and took a deep breath to calm herself even though tears ran wildly down her
face.
“Joanna…I couldn’t…I just…it was so…I can’t…” She tried to talk, but could barely form the words.
“I’m just so ashamed and…I’m going to have to tell Dwayne now…” She said, shaking her head in
disappointment. “He’ll hate me forever and it’s all my fault.”

I’ve
always been a creative individual. Writing is just a facet of that
creativity…

My careers in public relations in and around the
entertainment industry, photography, editing,  artist
management, modeling and special event planning all elevated my
passion for writing, not to mention gave me a treasure trove for
story lines.
I write women’s fiction; contemporary
romance (as Jamie Salisbury) and historical romance (as JR Salisbury)
which is ever evolving. I am fortunate enough that writing (and
marketing of said product(s)) is my full-time job, although I always
have one or two other projects going at the same time.
I now
live in a suburb of Atlanta. Some of my other interests include
photography, equestrianism, reading, and of course, travel.
I
sincerely hope my writing will entertain, enlighten, and inspire
others to pick up the pen and pursue their own dreams. I love to be
contacted by readers, writers, and history buffs.

“Good morning, aunt. I trust you slept well last night?”
“Yes, thank you.”
She sat across from Rory and waited as a footman brought her a plate of toast and
a cup of tea.
“What do you and Lily have planned for today?”
She smiled. “I think you mean what does Lily have planned for today, don’t you?”
He wasn’t sure. Women were so complicated at times. They could twist the simplest
of conversation around where one didn’t know what it was about.
“My sister is excited?”
“Yes. She can’t wait for the Abbott ball.”
“Isn’t she excited to be presented to the Queen tomorrow?”
“But of course. It’s just that the Abbott ball will be her first official function.”
“I understand.”
Actually he didn’t. The female mind was something that always confused him. He
took Mac’s lead and simply let them have their way.
He slid the newspaper across the table to his aunt. Fiona was his father’s younger
sister. She had endured tragedy when her husband had been killed in a huntingaccident two weeks after they’d married. He often wondered why she’d never remarried.
She was still a beautiful woman.
“It seems we’ve made the gossip columns already.”
She smiled at Rory. “Oh, my. I hope it’s all good.”
He nodded. “It is. More of a curiosity about me.”
“Ah, yes, the jilted bridegroom. Of course.”
“Which I don’t intend to get in my way.”
Fiona tilted her head. “You’re serious about finding a bride. Even if she’s English.”
“Aye. It matters not if she’s English or Scot. I need a wife. It’s time.”
“You are a continuous surprise to me, Rory.”
“How’s that?”
“Just when I think I know what you’re going to do, you do something I don’t see
coming.”
He laughed. “That’s the way I prefer to keep things. Mysterious.”
“And that you do.”
Rory stood and walked around the table to his aunt. He kissed her on the cheek. “I
need to see to some things in my study. If you have time to help me go through the
stack of invitations, I’d appreciate it. Tyler says there are quite a few.”
“This should prove to be interesting. I’ll be there in a few minutes.”
“Thank you.”
“For what?”
“For making this trip and seeing to Lily’s needs. I know Mother didn’t want to be far
when Rose gives birth, so I’m glad you stepped in.”
“Say no more. I’m more than happy to ensure Lily’s first season is a success. Edana
has been on Skye for far too long. London society makes her nervous.”
“I know. We all do. That’s why Lily didn’t raise a fuss about her not attending.”
“We all have our reasons and our secrets. Remember that, Rory, and don’t judge
people by who they are.”
He nodded and left the room. He knew better than to get into a discussion of that
sort with his aunt. She was too wise. Sometimes more than a woman should be.

The Skeleton Makes a Friend Book Tour & Giveaway

The Skeleton Makes a Friend
A Family Skeleton Mystery #5
by Leigh Perry
Genre: Cozy Mystery
Pub Date: 11/6/18

Georgia Thackery is feeling pretty good about
her summer job teaching at
prestigious Overfeld College, and she’s renting a rustic cabin
right by a lake for herself, her daughter, Madison, and her best
friend, Sid the Skeleton. Together again, the trio are enjoying the
quiet when a teenager named Jen shows up looking for her friend.
Georgia doesn’t recognize the name, but she learns that the person
Jen was looking for is actually Sid.
Sid reveals that he and Jen are part of a regular
online gaming group
that formed locally, and one of their members has gone missing. Sid
admits that he might have bragged about his investigative prowess,
enough so that Jen wants him to find their missing player. Given that
Sid doesn’t have many friends offline—none, really, unless you
count the Thackery family—Georgia agrees to help him search. They
manage to discreetly enlist Jen, who lives in town, and follow the
clues to… a dead buddy.
Now they’ve got a killer on their hands.
Probing the life of Sid’s
friend, they realize a lot is wrong both on campus and in the
seemingly quaint town, and someone doesn’t want them looking
deeper.
Though Leigh Perry was born in Pensacola, FL and raised in Charlotte,
NC, she has been living north of Boston, MA for 26 years or so. She
shares the house with her husband, two daughters, two guinea pigs,
and a ludicrous selection of books. While the population of people
and guinea pigs stays constant, the number of books is on an
ever-rising curve. Under the name Toni L.P. Kelner, she’s published
eleven novels and twenty-something short stories, as well as
co-edited six urban fantasy anthologies with New York Times
bestseller Charlaine Harris.
Sid unzipped the rest of the way, pulled himself out of the suitcase and back together, and tried to turn the
knob. “It’s locked.”
“Can you open it?”
“Easy peasy,” he said, pulling a set of lock picks from inside the suitcase. My locksmith sister Deborah
probably hadn’t realized that teaching my daughter Madison how to pick locks was tantamount to
teaching Sid. Madison had shared everything she’d learned with him, and he’d promptly ordered his own
picks online. “You really should learn to do this, Georgia. It’s not that hard.”
Despite his assurance, it seemed to take an awful long time to get the door open. Or maybe it just seemed
like a long time because I kept looking down the stairs, worried that somebody would hear us and come to
see what was going on.
Finally there was a loud click, and Sid said, “Nailed it!” He opened the door, and cold air streamed out.
“Brr!” I said. “Wouldn’t you know that a department with everybody on vacation would be the one with
overachieving air conditioners?” The window unit in my classroom had gone out twice. “Not to mention
the waste of electricity.”
“You can complain about it later,” Sid said. “Come on.”
I followed him into the human resources department, pulling the empty suitcase along.
There were four more closed doors: three offices labeled with names and one marked File Room.
“Here we go,” Sid said, using his picks on one of the office doors.
This lock was easier to deal with, which was a relief, but unfortunately, the smell seemed to be coming
from that office. “I’m going in.”
“Remember what I said. Get in, look around fast, get out.”
“Got it.” He stepped inside.
Between the cold, the horrid stink, and the fear of being caught, I was hoping that Sid would be swift, but
I was surprised when he came out in under two minutes. “That was fast. Did you find something?”
“Don’t go in there.”
“I wasn’t going to—”
Then I looked at him.
He shouldn’t have been able to look like anything but bone-colored, but somehow he seemed paler than
usual, and his bones were so loose he was nearly falling apart. “What’s wrong?”
“He’s in there. At least I think it’s him.”
“Did he see you?” I said stupidly.
He slowly shook his skull, and only then did I realize what it was we’d been smelling.
