The supreme art of war is to subdue the enemy without fighting. Let your plans be dark
and impenetrable as night, and when you move, fall like a thunderbolt.
Sun Tzu couldn’t have said it better in The Art of War.
What a great book, with solid words of wisdom. Wisdom that could be applied to
everyday life. Those were the best books.
Books that captured the essence of the human mind and helped you to overthrow your
enemies.
Precision was the key, along with meticulous planning. That was what you needed when
you were dealing with people like the Vandervilles. You had to plan for them with accuracy.
Otherwise, there would be no effect.
To destroy people like them you had to work your way in from the inside, and by the time
they realized something was amiss, it would be too late.
Like being poisoned. And, like the insidious toxins from a potent blend of poison, that was
exactly how I planned to work.
Find their weaknesses, exploit and obliterate them, along with anyone dumb enough to
associate with them. As far as I was concerned, they were just as bad and would have no mercy
from me.
No one would.
My mother didn’t get any as she begged for her life. There was no form of mercy shown
to her, none whatsoever as she pleaded and cried from the depths of her soul. Praying and
screaming for God until her last breath departed from her body. Mercy never even entered their
minds.
My mother was a sweet woman who loved too much. Her kindness and sweet nature
were her weakness. She wore her heart on her sleeve, and evil people took advantage.
I would never forget her, and how she suffered as I watched her die. I was helpless thenbut promised I wouldn’t allow her death to be in vain. I wouldn’t allow the life she lived to signify
nothing.
I wouldn’t allow the beautiful spirit she had to fade away.
Those people would not take that from her.
It had taken me a long time to get to this stage. A very long time. Years and patience.
But, now I was here, at this point, and ready with a plan so dark and impenetrable it
would strike them down with crippling effects. I’d conquer them all and make sure that they all
paid for what they did. Every last one of those self-indulgent, vile, materialistic Vandervilles.
By the time I finished with them, they’d all beg for death, which I’d gladly offer. Oh, so
gladly. I relished the thought just like I did the taste of candy. Sweet and desirable.
The stage was finally set and the actors all in position. All I had to do now was sit back
and watch the long-awaited, grand performance.
Lights, camera, action…

risk that comes from being in love with an immortal like Liam Alexander.

But continuing to seek the approval of her older brother is a whole
different struggle, and when tensions finally reach a breaking point

distraction.

Bound

Bound Series Book 1

When fate leads Emma Morgan back to her small hometown of Washington, she

learns that the life she knew three years ago has changed once she
meets the charmingly, mysterious Liam Alexander. But when her brother
Sean, voices his disapproval, Emma finds her loyalty in the way of
her newfound curiosity of the youngest Alexander. Only the more she
tries to avoid Liam the more she finds him in her constant company.

A risk that leads down a dangerous path once Emma begins to discover a
secret about the Alexanders that no human should ever know.

I was never that child you
found in the corner reading. In fact, I
loathed the idea of picking up a book. The activity seemed more of a
chore than a past time.
All that changed when my
brother began talking to me about the newest novel he was
reading.
Harry Potter and The Order of the
Phoenix.
Before
I knew it, my curiosity got the better of me, luring me to try the
series. It didn’t take long for my mindset of reading to turn on its head.
But even with my
new hobby discovered it wasn’t until my junior year of college that I
developed a hidden desire for writing stories. And when I found
myself writing scenes instead of paying attention to my professors, I
knew becoming a writer was the career path I was meant to follow.

Within seconds we were on highway 264, heading toward the Alexander mansion—or Goose Creek
Park to those unaware of the Alexander’s true residence.
“Now are you going to tell me why we had to fake an illness to escape me from school grounds?” I
looked down at our hands with a gulp before finding the courage to look back at up him.
“Time is of the essence,” Liam said.
“Why?”
With my stubbornness beginning to surface, Liam looked at me with prideful satisfaction while the
same hesitation I had seen in the school hallway lingered within his eyes. I was going to have to
drag it out of him. It would have been convenient to have Sean’s ability right now.
“Liam…” I paused with a frustrated sigh to his silence as he looked back out the windshield. “What is
so bad that you had to ask me to leave school? Your face doesn’t exactly look as if you got the urge
to head out on vacation.”
“Would you go with me if I asked?”
Liam turned his neck to gaze at me with eyes so bright they almost frightened me. How could
someone look so hopeful and saddened at the same time?
“Anywhere. Anytime,” I said.
“Maybe when I…”
He stopped himself with his words, gripping his knuckles tightly on the steering wheel.
“Maybe when you what?” I closed my eyes as I spoke his name aloud as if it were a password.
“Liam…” They opened back to gaze upon his dirty blonde hair. “Please just tell me. What’s wrong?”
I sat in silence shifting my eyes around his face as if they were a plane and I was trying to find a
safe place to land. I waited in continued silence as I caught sight of the road that lead to the
Alexander Mansion. Just when the white of the mansion peeked through the trees Liam finally spoke
without looking at me.
“Something’s happened.”
I ignored my desire to be angry with his silence up to this point.
He was ready to tell, so I was ready to listen.
“What has?”
Liam pulled swiftly into the curved drive before putting it in park and turning his body completely to
face me. He closed his eyes with a sigh for only a second’s composure before opening them with an
exhale. My heart beat faster, afraid of his next words.
“Sean didn’t come back from his watch this morning.”
At the sound of Sean’s name I grabbed instinctively at the door handle for support. My stomach
barrel rolled with a fear, and a shiver ran up my spine, leaving me dizzy. Liam’s hand moved to
gently hold my face level with his own, forcing me to concentrate on him. My eyes desperately
wanted to shift down in panic as I thought about Sean’s fate, but the emerald glow of Liam’s eyes
were enough to hold me. Unfortunately, they couldn’t stop the dark thoughts from circling my mind.
Where is he? Was he distracted from last night? This is my fault.
“Oh God, that was something important when Grace called. Was that when they knew…and we
waited the whole period…what do we–”
The last time I had been this jumbled was when I had discovered Sean was immortal. Each thought
ran wildly in every direction, spreading panic in its path. I felt my deep breaths become shorter upon
each inhale.
“Emma?”
Liam’s gentle tone brought my focus back enough to voice my fears.
“He’s missing?” I said.
“Yes,” Liam said.
I could feel the sweat glisten my palms as my heart beat even faster. I slowly reached my right hand up to lay
on top of Liam’s left as my lips pulled together.
“But he’s not de—”
“No.”
I breathed out a small sigh of relief at his interruption. I dropped my hands into my lap, grateful
because I didn’t think I could have even finished the last word of my question.
“Come on,” Liam said.
He dropped his hands from my face and reached for the door handle. I quickly followed him out ofthe car, meeting at the end of his car’s hood. We held onto each other’s hands as we ran–at my
pace–up the curved porch stairs. Despite my lack of concentration to each step, I was impressed
that I hadn’t tripped.
Once reaching the porch we slowed, not stopping as Patrick opened the door, ushering us inside.
Once in the living room, my eyes bounced from left to right, shocked to see every member of the
Alexander clan. Well, everyone except my brother.
Liam and I dropped hands as I gazed at the right side of the room to see Grace next to William. She
was talking on the phone to someone while William looked at a map. Liam began heading in their
direction. I followed him on auto-pilot, my mind still processing the situation. As I got closer, I could hear
Grace.
“Yes, Kallie. The scent goes north before dropping off completely.”
As Grace listened to Kallie’s reply on the other end, I gazed up to see her withdrawn cheeks and
brightened sapphire eyes. Grace looked back at me for only a few seconds before looking back at
the map.
“I understand,” Grace said.
She stood listening to Kallie before letting her eyes close for only a second’s need of composure.
“Thank you,” Grace said before ending the call with her thumb, and placing the cell phone into her
pocket.
Whatever Kallie had said it must have been about Sean. My stomach tensed as I watched Grace
lower her finger to the map.
“Liam, you head south while Will and I head past the northern border,” Grace said.
There were so many things happening it was hard to know what to ask first.
“You’re going?” I said.
I turned my head to meet Liam’s already waiting eyes. They weren’t the only pair that gazed back at
me.
“There’s a better chance of finding him if the three of us go,” Liam said.
I nodded with my small exhale. The voice in my mind told me to shut up. It wasn’t my business to
question how immortals tracked. I guess it was just human nature to worry about those you love. I
was torn between the uneasiness of Liam leaving and the gratefulness of his selfless search to find
my brother.
“You’re right,” I said choosing the latter.
If only I had the gift to see into Sean’s thoughts the way he had read mine after Henry had taken me.
I could end this search immediately and send them to get him. But I couldn’t. I could do nothing.
I sighed, focusing my eyes on the ground before they suddenly froze in place with a new thought.
No, I couldn’t peek within Sean’s mind but he could always hear what was in mine. Sean. If you’re
still alive—god I didn’t mean that—I just mean if you are hearing me now then I want you to know
one thing. They’re going to find you. They are going to bring you back to me so that I can see you
one last time. And once I see you are okay, I promise I will give you your wish and let you move on
with your new life. I promise, big brother. I love you.

Fountain Dead Book Tour & Giveaway

Fountain Dead
by Theresa Braun
Genre: YA Horror
Mark is
uprooted from his home and high school in the Twin Cities and
forced to move with his family into a Victorian in Nowhere-ville.
Busy with the relocation and fitting in, Mark’s parents don’t see
what’s unfolding around them—the way rooms and left behind
objects seem alive with a haunted past.
Of course, Mark keeps his ghostly
encounters to himself, all the while
sinking deeper into the house’s dark, alluring, and ultimately
terrifying history. As romantic entanglements intensify, the
paranormal activity escalates. Past and present come together.
Everything is connected—from the bricks in the walls to the hearts
beating in their chests, all the secrets of Fountain Dead are finally
unearthed.

Theresa Braun was born in St. Paul, Minnesota and has carried some of
that
hardiness with her to South Florida where she currently resides. An
English teacher and adjunct college professor for over thirteen
years, she continues to share her enthusiasm for literary arts with
her students. She earned a Masters in English literature with a
thesis on Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night. In her spare time, she
enjoys delving into her own creative writing, painting, photography
and even ghost hunting. Spending time with her family and traveling
as often possible are two of her passions. In fact, her world
meanderings are often backdrops for her work. Striving to make the
world a better place is something dear to her heart.

The vapor wafting from the stagnant pool smelled like the rancid rot from inside a carcass. Mark
felt he breathed in fire. The gooey surface boiled and foamed as if a prehistoric substance. His
heart stopped as something emerged. A goopy and gnarled dome became a sickly face. The
eyelids still closed, the rest of the form rose, covered in green.
A tattered dress clung to the feminine curves. The cloth slipped from the shoulders, drawing
his attention to her skin. The texture made him gag.
A sour taste of bile filled his mouth. His skin contracted as he contemplated her spongy flesh.
Her black eyes sprang open like a demonic doll’s. Her inhuman gaze stabbed his very core, and
he knew he was facing a soul-less being. The eyes burned like hot stove burners.
A decomposing hand extended toward his throat.
Mark woke, wet with perspiration. His pillowcase and sheets were damp, as if he’d taken a
swim in the fountain. That idea made him unable to breathe. His heartbeat sped along at a rate
close to heart attack status as he tried not to blow a gasket about the evil that lie in wait. He
whipped his pillow from behind his head and squashed it to his chest. No one would grasp what
he’d been feeling—or what he’d been seeing.
His lip trembled.
Something—a fiend, a spirit, the fountain—wanted to hurt him.
Mark’s chest compressed.
The devil on his shoulder advised him that his mother had to be right. All of the metal music,
the cartoons, the swearing, had been an invitation for demons and darkness. Forget the fact that
none of his friends had ever mentioned opening some gateway to hell. These dark forces had
chosen him.He lied back, exhaustion sinking him deeper into the mattress. After pulling the blood warm
sheets up to his chin, he shunned the moonlight streaming into the room. The crooked claws of
the branches squealed against the half-open windowpane. Summer’s hot breath puffed into the
house. Mark didn’t have to strain to hear its griping—the sighs of the woodwork and the
building’s various joints.
The door to the servants’ quarters was open again. However, that bothered him less and less.
A perfume of fragrant flowers sent him to sleep.

No Cowboys No Angels Book Tour & Giveaway

No Cowboys No Angels
The Mystery Angel Romances Book 1
by Petie McCarty
Genre: Romantic Suspense
Kellen Brand’s inheritance turns out to be a whopper—
one
dilapidated farm in West Virginia and one guardian angel!
Since Kellen is convinced no sane woman would choose to live in Riverside,
she vows to sell her farm and quick. Her handsome neighbor Luke
Kenyon must block the farm sale or risk exposure of his family’s
secrets. While Kellen has located one potential buyer, she faces a
town full of objectors. Someone is trying to frighten her off, and
Luke is forced to step in and rescue her more than once.
Unfortunately,
Kellen can’t seem to stay out of trouble. She stumbles onto a
clandestine hazardous-waste-dumping operation next to her farm, and
she prays Luke has one more rescue up his sleeve. It’s her only hope
of staying alive.
Unless her mother really did leave her a guardian angel . .

Petie spent a large part of her career working at Walt Disney World — “The

Most Magical Place on Earth” — where she enjoyed working in the
land of fairy tales by day and creating her own romantic fairy tales
by night, including her new series, The Cinderella Romances. She
eventually said good-bye to her “day” job to write her
stories full-time. These days Petie spends her time writing sequels
to her regency time travel series, Lords in Time, and her
cozy-mystery-with-a-dash-of-romantic-suspense series, the Mystery
Angel Romances.

Petie shares her home on the Cumberland Plateau in Tennessee with her
horticulturist husband, a spoiled-rotten English Springer spaniel
addicted to pimento-stuffed green olives, and a noisy Nanday conure
named Sassy who made a cameo appearance in Angel to the Rescue.

Without warning, a gunshot sounded, and the bullet ricocheted off a tree about twenty
feet away. The Appaloosa jerked hard at the gunshot and then reared. The reins ripped from
Kellen’s grasp. She grabbed the saddle horn with both hands and concentrated only on staying in
the saddle. The frightened Appaloosa reared a second time, then bolted for open ground. Kellen
could do little more than hang on for dear life.
Two leaping strides and Lily had surged to a full-on gallop, streaking for the open grassy
hills. Thundering hooves sounded behind them, and Luke shouted for Kellen to stop. She was
helpless, too scared to even glance back at him for fear her grip would loosen. The reins trailed
beneath the Appaloosa’s pounding hooves as the mare continued her panicked race to nowhere.
If the mare’s hooves got tangled in the dragging reins, they would both go down.
A fallen tree appeared directly in the mare’s path, and Kellen let loose a scream as the
sure-footed horse gamely cleared the tree trunk like a thoroughbred jumper. Kellen slipped to the
right side of the saddle when the Appaloosa landed, and they galloped on across the open field.
One leg still straddled the saddle and her other leg dangled precariously between the matched
pairs of pounding hooves. She heaved her leg up tight as she could to the mare’s belly and
prayed it didn’t get tangled with Lily’s legs, but her muscles weakened with every stride and
bounce she sustained. And still the Appaloosa galloped, sheer adrenaline keeping the mare out in
front of the mighty Windsor.
Bred for endurance, the mare focused on putting as much distance between her and the
gunshot as possible. The powerful hooves pounded across the open pasture. Kellen’s arms and
legs ached, and she didn’t know how much longer she could maintain her balance. If she slipped
off the mare, she would be trampled to death the second she hit the ground.
As that thought flashed through her brain, Lily hit a gully and waggled her stride enough
to send Kellen further off-kilter. Her knuckles turned white from the pressure of her death grip
on the saddle horn, and her legs had nothing left to give. She prayed that if she slipped further,
she could muster hidden strength to push off and roll away from the thundering hooves.
The mare aimed for a small copse of trees perched on the side of a hill, and a fresh wave
of terror slammed through Kellen. Low hanging limbs would tear her from the horse. Suddenly,
Luke appeared alongside. His long arm snaked around her waist and yanked her off the panicked
Appaloosa. He slowed Windsor with each stride until he could slow the stallion to a stop and
gently lower Kellen to the ground. Her legs gave way the second her feet touched solid ground,
and she crumpled to the grass in a heap.
Before she could take a full breath, two strong arms lifted her up, and Luke crushed her
tight to his chest. She could feel his heart pounding out its rhythm, as Windsor’s hooves had
moments before. A single sob erupted when she tried to draw a breath, and she clung to him with
what little strength she had left. Her muscles quivered, and she didn’t care. For once in her life,
she didn’t want to be tough. She just wanted this big, strong man to hold on tight.
Long moments passed. Her legs grew steady. Luke eased back, and a cold wave of
disappointment rushed over her. He took her face in his hands and gently brushed his lips against
hers, as though asking permission. Whether it was her close call with death or the way Luke had
looked when he said her mother was wonderful—Kellen didn’t know and didn’t care—she gave
up trying to resist this man and threw her arms around his neck, pressed her lips to his. His
muscles flexed hard and pressed her tight against him. His fingers threaded into her curls and
then closed into a fist to hold tight. She grew lightheaded, and yet he kissed her as though he would never stop. His mouth
tasted and searched hers, first gently and then passionately and then gently yet again, keeping her
off-balance. This sometime-frightening, sometime-charismatic man seduced desires from deep
within her soul where she kept them under lock and key. She knew she should pull away, but she
couldn’t. Wouldn’t. She felt his muscles flex beneath her hands, and fresh waves of giddying
hunger rifled up her spine.

Chapter 1
Lord Jesus, it was her. She hadn’t seen him yet, thank god.
Ethan pulled his baseball cap low over his eyes and rounded his shoulders over his glass of
rum and Coke.
He kept his head low, but his eyes trained on her. Riley wore denim cutoff shorts and a white
lace crop top that revealed her flat, lightly tanned stomach. The man beside her passed her another
shot. She tossed it back expertly. Ethan slid his thumb over the cool glass in his hand. That’s two
now, and before the shots she’d been sipping on a brightly colored cocktail. That was a lot of alcohol
for someone her size.
She passed the man her empty shot glass. He slid an arm around her back, inching closer to
her. For a flicker of an instant, her face changed. Her eyes grew small and her jaw tensed. A shaky
smile returned when
he touched her chin and turned her face toward him. Her fingers toyed with a long tendril of her hair
that fell in soft waves around her breasts.
The man tucked her hair over her shoulder and whispered something in her ear. She bit her
lip.
Shit.
Ethan tightened his hand on the sweating glass. She didn’t know the dude. All he had to go
by was instinct and his experience on reading people. One thing was for sure, the asshole was all
over her. If he was her boyfriend, he wouldn’t be trying so damn hard.
Dammit, he shouldn’t care. She wasn’t his problem. Since he’d moved in next door to her a
couple weeks ago, she’d been friendly but completely disinterested in his attempts at small talk. Not
that he’d done anything but be polite to her.
Riley had a wall of ice behind her green eyes and tight smile. No one was getting beyond
that guard…except the douchebag that kept touching her. The man trailed a finger over Riley’s
collarbone, his face tucked closely to her ear. Her cheeks turned a ripe shade of pink. She ducked
her chin away from his face, but the man brought his hand to her jaw and turned it sharply toward
him. The planes of the dude’s face turned hard and his fingertips held her face inches from his. Even
at this distance, Ethan could see that he dug his grip too deep, making her soft skin pucker around
his fingertips. His hold demanded her obedience.
Who the hell did this guy think he was handling a woman like that? And more importantly,
why was she standing for it?
He lowered his hand to her bicep and rotated her body into him. With Riley’s back to Ethan,
he watched as the predator smoothed his hands over her ass. She grabbed his wrists, shifting his
hands to rest on her hips.
The guy put them right back on the rump of her shorts.
An iron fist of disgust gripped Ethan’s lungs. The prick was insistent and downright rough.
His instincts went to war. Getting involved wouldn’t do him any good, but something wasn’t right.
“Mind if I have a seat?” A tall woman in a tight red dress blocked his view. He lifted his eyes
to her face and then dragged them away. On any other night, he’d be game. Hell, he’d be more than
game. But tonight, he couldn’t take his eyes off the blonde across the room.
“I’m waiting for someone, but you’re welcome to have a seat.” Manners forced the words
from his mouth. He shifted his gaze around her full, sexy hips to locate the woman across the bar.
His disinterest didn’t sway the woman in red. She pulled out a chair and sat. Her legs crossed and
uncrossed.
“You’ve been waiting an awful long time.” She rested her chin on her palm. Warm, olive eyes
met his. God, she was beautiful. Her lips were full and painted in a warm neutral tone, her dark hair
curled around her exposed cleavage.
Every male hormone in his body screamed at him for not taking an interest. But he couldn’t.
Not when his sixth sense was on high alert. He couldn’t pretend that he didn’t have any clue as to
what the slimy bastardwas planning on doing with Riley. He forced his attention to the woman in front of him. “I’m sorry, I’m
distracted tonight and not in the mood for conversation.”
A slow smile crept over her face. “I’m not in the mood for conversation either.”
Jesus, she was direct. He liked direct, he liked women who knew what they wanted and took
it. Sex in particular. He was here on vacation to clear his head and figure out his next steps and he
wanted to enjoy it. And that meant sex. Lots of it. Of course, this would happen tonight, when he
wouldn’t be able to act. Because of Riley. Just his luck.
The waitress stepped up to his visitor, and propped a tray on her hip. “What can I get you?”
“I’ll have a mojito, please.”
Now he was buying her a drink? How in the hell had that happened? He craned his neck
around the two women. A new couple stood in the same spot where Riley and the asshole had stood
only seconds before.
“And for you?”
He waved his glass at her. “Rum and Coke.”
His eyes scanned the crowd. The waitress took the empty glass and sidled around the table.
He leaned in his seat, not caring if he was being inconspicuous or not. Women gyrated on the dance
floor, the thumping
of the bass vibrated through the soles of his shoes, racking up his pulse.
