The ancient Egyptian culture has been remembered as an elite, refined group of people who lived a very luxurious life. Gold and ancient treasures were prevalent, while massive tombs honoring the previous royal members of society were built with such careful attention to detail. The golds, blacks, and earthen tones are not only warm and inviting; they become exciting when gold trims and Egyptian decor are brought into the room.

Finding the Proper Furniture
Wicker furniture was first commonly seen within the Egyptian culture. Due to the local environment, wood was not very common. Instead, ancient Egyptians had to use the vines that were available to them for furniture. Luxurious wicker lines such as Lane Venture most closely resemble the quality of furniture that royalty sought during ancient times. Weaving wicker furniture is truly an art, and royal families would not settle for anything less than the best. There are thousands of different wicker furniture items available, but they are usually found at places like Wicker Paradise.

Painting the Walls and Changing the Carpet
For a detailed room remodel, painting the walls might not be enough. It might be necessary to rip out existing carpeting and replace it. For the Egyptian style, black, cream, gold, sandy, and brown carpets could be wonderful fits. Be sure that the wall and furniture colors will compliment the carpet well. The walls should not be painted black, as they should open up the room to provide the illusion of extra space. The royals were fond of large, open homes.

Wall Art and Decor
Wall art and shelf decor can be fairly simple. Sphinxes, sarcophagus miniatures, scarabs, hieroglyphs, ancient scenes, and pyramids are all wonderful decor options. A large painted Sphinx or a photograph of modern day ancient ruins would certainly look beautiful framed above the wicker furniture. Tall, ceramic Egyptian cats could stand guard by the television or door, representing their holy status in the eyes of the Egyptians.

Golden Accents
Adding gold to the room is much easier than one might think. As a matter of fact, it’s as easy as a can of spray paint and old junk items! Picture frames, old lamps, coat racks, accent tables, decorative dishes, candles, and figurines can all be spray painted gold. They can then be up-cycled as new decor, rather than buying all new accessories for the room. Gold is very important when outfitting an Egyptian styled home.

An Egyptian room is not only unique, it is beautiful and powerful. The Egyptian culture is one of the most famous ancient civilizations and is widely studied across the world. Their power, fine tastes, and beautiful way of life is a fine source of inspiration for redecorating.
