Neck-Wear.net for School Pictures This Year

**I received the below mentioned products at no cost in order to complete an honest review from Neck-wear.net. No other compensation has been received.**

Each year I try to dress my boys a little different for their school pics.  One year they wore polo shirts, another year they wore short sleeve button down shirts, still another year it was sweater vests over a long sleeve shirt.  I realized in all their school pics I haven’t had them wear a tie.  I brought the idea up to my boys this year and my oldest one said, “Ok but I want to wear a bowtie” Ok no problem.

Neck-Wear.net has a big selection of ties, bowties, clip on ties, and boys’ ties.  I really like Neck-Wear.net because they have a big selection of ties that are only $5!  Love that for my budget. That price makes it easy to out fit a few boys for school pictures.

I had received a solid red men’s tie and bowtie to review from their site. My oldest son was more than happy to be the model for the ties.
I’m thinking we’ll go with a different shirt but he just loves the bowtie.  He said he wants to wear it for school pics for sure.  What color shirt do you think would go good with this bright red bowtie?  Of course white is always an option but I was thinking maybe a light blue shirt with some red details in it if I could find it.  This bowtie was super easy to put on too.  It wasn’t one that you have to actually tie into a bowtie.  It has a hook on it with an adjustable length on it to fit different neck size which I love.  As fast as this boy grows he’ll have this tie as an option for a few years at least.
See how easy it hooks.  My son could put this on himself without help.  We then tried the regular tie that we received.
I admit, my tie tying skills need some work but the tie itself is lovely.  My son loves wearing ties too because it makes him feel like “a man”.  He’s only 11 but he keeps telling me he’s growing a mustache.  I don’t see it yet but I know all that stuff will be happening way sooner then I’d like it to.

July Is National Parks And Recreation Month

**I’m writing this post as a US Family Guide Blogger.  I will be receiving an Amazon gc for this post.  No other compensation has been received**
Summer is only half way through and you’ve probably already heard “I’m bored” at least once or twice.  I’ve kicked my kids out of the house a few times to go play in the sprinkler, have a squirt gun battle, throw the football or whatever.
This beautiful weather makes me itch for a family day trip or roadtrip.  With a tight budget, a trip to the amusement park or local festivals might be a bit expensive to do very often.  You know what’s not expensive, will get everyone active, get everyone out of the house to enjoy the weather, and make memories while doing it?  A trip to a nearby park.
One of our favorite trips is a trip to Shawnee State Park not far from us here in PA.  They have a swimming area on the lake with a playground, fishing areas, paddle boat rentals, and lots more.  We took a day trip last August the day before school started as a sort of last hoorah for the boys before they went back to school.

Here is some info from the National Recreation and Park Association.
July is national Park and Recreation Month and your local parks are encouraging everyone to come out this month and experience all the wonderful aspects of parks and recreation.  Nationwide, recreation departments have organized events and activities to help families spend quality time together, enjoy nature and get active. This provides a great opportunity to not only make the most of the beautiful weather, but also to take a stand against the obesity epidemic and technology trends that consistently keep more kids indoors and living less active lifestyles.
As part of Park and Recreation Month, the National Recreation and Park Association is encouraging everyone to show the love for local parks and recreation and wants everyone to answer the question, “I Love my Parks and Recreation Because…” They have a fill in the blank social media poster that can be filled in and shared, and a fun month-long weekly photo contest that encourages everyone to show and share the LOVE for local parks! The NRPA website includes information on all of the above initiatives, free downloadable resources as well as a calendar of events scheduled nationwide.
With kids out of school, the vacation celebration includes bouncing off the walls and fighting over the TV, tablet and computer screen.  Think about your summer days as a kid – spending time outside hunting for salamanders, playing kickball with neighborhood friends, exploring the trails and woods, fun summer camp days at your local rec center, and swimming until your fingers shriveled. Many of us have so many happy memories from summertime and want our children to have those same experiences too.
While we can always tell them of the fun we had as kids, it is so much better to show them. And you know what, you don’t have to go far to have these enriching experiences that make lasting memories – you just have to head to your local parks and recreation. There are great places right in your community to go have some family fun all summer long!
