Zax’s Original Creams Review and Sweepstakes

I received the below mentioned products in order to complete an honest review.  Any opinions expressed are my own

I’ve seen Zax Original Creams products come across my path before but I had never them until this review.  I think the thing that interested me most about trying Zax’s products is the fact that they were developed by a pharmacists AND all natural.  I wondered if an all natural cream would really work and how much (if at all) it would work. I chose to review the Zax’s Original Darkspot cream and Zax’s Original Dark Circle eye cream

Blog 004

I received these products the very end of November.  I was to use them for several weeks as indicated on the use instructions.  I was eager to try them hoping they’d show some improvement.   To be fair I don’t have painfully obvious dark circles.  I have some darker areas below my eyes that are more obvious when I’m overly tired.  I thought if the eye cream could even help perk my eyes up a little it would be worth it for me. For the darkspot cream.  I had several areas I wanted to try it on.  I decided to try it on an out of place spot near my jaw.  I took some before pics without make up on so you can get an idea what I was starting with.  These were taken The very beginning of December.

In my opinions, the dark circle eye cream was the perfect consistency to apply it wasn’t too thick so you didn’t have to work it in.  Eye are is delicate so you don’t want to be stretching and pulling that area.  It had a cooling feeling when applied which could be do to the cucumber extract or even the witch hazel in the product.  There was no noticable scent to it and the cream is white.

The Darkspot Cream was the same consistency as the eye cream.  It easily absorbed into the skin. This cream had a slight citrus type scent to it I’m guessing do to the citrus unshiu peel extract.  It also contains licorice extract, aloe, and vitamins B3 & E so all kinds of good stuff for your skin.

After 2 weeks of use I couldn’t say I noticed any real changes as far as the slight darkness under my eye fading but it did definitely help with the puffiness and the caffeine did seem to “perk up” my eyes a little.  I didn’t really notice any change with the dark spot cream. I kept using the cream as it directed though.  Up until the time I me uploading these pics it must have been very subtle changes along the way that I didn’t notice because when I uploaded the pics, I was surprised to see that my dark spot actually did fade some.  In fact I had to zoom in more on the picture to find it.  My eyes on the other hand…well it doesn’t help that I’ve only been getting 5-6 hours of sleep a night. (It’s not enough for me).  My poor eye looks swollen and puffy even after applying the eye cream. BUT it did seem less purplish.  Or is it just me?

Argan Oil And It’s Beauty Uses

I received the below mentioned product at no cost in order to complete an honest review. Any opinions expressed are my own. This post also contains affiliate links. Regardless I only post legitimate links from trusted sites.

If you use shampooo or hair serums you’ve probably seen argan oil as an ingredient in at least one product you’ve tried.  I’d never personally tried pure Argan Oil before. Reading about it Argan oil is rich in Vitamin E and Linoleic acid which is great for skin because of it’s anti-inflammatory properties and antioxidants. It also has triterpenoids that help your skin create a barrier.  It can also help promote moisture retention so it’s a compliment to your regular lotions and moisturizing products.

I had the chance to try Swiss Botany Pure Moroccan Argan Oil.  I had heard about argan oil being great for hair but beyond that I didn’t know much else.  I read some of the info they sent along and found it’s a moisturizer and good for hands and nails.

Swiss Botany Argan oil

I first tried it in my hair.  I used about half  a dropper full.  I rubbed it between my hand and ran my hand though my hair.  It helped me so much with the frizz I’ve been experiencing this winter.  I even use a conditioner every time I wash my hair but this is what my  hair needed.

Between the dry heat of winter and having to wash my hand like a million times a day at work my hands get dry.  They get painfully dry.  I tried some of the argan oil on my hands.  It was like immediate relief.  I worked some into my nails too.  It really made my nails shine and quenched my dry cuticles.  I took a picture of one hand treated with argan oil and one not. Can you tell which one?

I’ve recently been reading about essential oils too.  I read that some treatments and applications of essential oils require what is referred to as a “carrier oil” Prior to this, the only acceptable carrier oil I had on hand was coconut oil which was fine.  I read that argan oil can actually be used as carrier oil for essential oils.  Since it’s good for my skin it seems like a good choice for me as well.

It can also be used as a scalp treatment for dry itchy scalps.  I haven’t tried this one yet but I so need to.

Saving Money on Car Insurance

This is a sponsored post that i found relevant to Luv Saving Money.

Car insurance can get quite expensive. Here are just seven ways to lower your premiums and save your money for other, more enjoyable pursuits.

Pennies wikimedia

1. Ditch the Add-Ons

Many insurance packages come with extra coverage that you don’t actually need. For example, if your state only requires liability coverage, you can skip the “uninsured motorist” or “comprehensive collision” coverage. Snipping them out of your policy can save you hundreds of dollars a year.

2. Buy Locally

If you reside in Philadelphia, you’ll want to buy insurance in Philadelphia. The prices listed on insurance sites are often national or average rates; they don’t reflect the prices that a real-life insurance agent can give you for your region specifically.

3. Be Safe

Improved safety features can inspire insurance companies to lower your bill. This is because a well-protected car is less likely to be stolen than a clunker with worn-out locks. Beef up your vehicular security to pay less for your premiums.

4. Go Back to School

In the same vein as the above, you can make your insurance company trust you more as a driver if you attend a driver’s ed or road safety course. They’ll be able to give you certain discounts or percentages off because you’ve proven yourself as a conscientious citizen.

5. Raise Your Deductible

A higher deductible means a lower premium. You’ll need to pay the piper if you get into an accident, of course, but if you’ve been on the road for years without incident, it’s a risk you may be willing to take to save money every month.

6. Buy In Bulk

If you’re a two- or three-car household, don’t insure your vehicles separately. Put them all under the same policy with the same insurance company so you’ll be able to take advantage of their special “bulk” insurance packages.

7. Compare and Contrast

Last but certainly not least, take the time to do your homework before signing up with any particular company. Compare prices for both the month and the year; weigh the perks of one policy against the perks of another; read reviews of various brands and see which one is the preferred choice of others in your demographic.

These are just a few ways to spend less on auto insurance. Whether you’re a first-time driver or a veteran of the road, you’ll want to complete thorough research and get the best deal possible when insuring your vehicle.

Safety Features For Your Home You Can’t Afford Not To Have

This post does contain affiliate links. Regardless I only post legitimate offers from trusted sites.

It seems there’s all kinds of safety products available on the market. Everything from identity theft protection to sophisticated home security systems.  But what is safety features should your really have in your home when you’re on a budget?

Smoke alarms:  I know you hear this all the time.  But it’s true.  A smoke alarm will give you the time you need to be able to escape if there’s a fire or maybe even put it out if it’s a small one.  You can get affordable smoke alarms, you don’t have to go for the top of the line ones.  A simple beeping smoke alarm will suffice. Remember to check your batteries on your smoke alarms too.  Some will even beep when the battery is low.

Carbon monoxide detector:  We actually got one for free from our local fire department during a fire safety fair.  They’ve really come down in price over the years.  Our gave instructions to put it in the basement or lowest level of the house nearest our heating system.

House Insurance or renters insurance:  If you have a mortgage on your house, your bank may require you to  have insurance. Even if they don’t this is really something you don’t want to skimp on if you have a choice.  A fire, pipes busting, a freak accident, a burglary, there’s a lot of reasons one might want to have house insurance.  Renters insurance is usually very cheap. You might not think you need renters insurance since you don’t own the place but if you have something stolen  or there is a fire renters insurance will help replace those items.  I  lived in a 3 bedroom apartment at one point and renters insurance was only about $16 a year.  Granted it may have gone up and it may vary depending on the insurance agency and what you need to protect but it’s almost silly not to have it.

Baby Safety device: If you have a baby or toddler you know (or will soon learn) they get into everything.  There are tons of safety devices out there and i’ve tried many of them with 4 kids. The ones I used the most with all my kids was cupboard latches (to keep them from getting a cleaning products and from pulling heavy pans onto themselves), furniture tethers (for chest of drawers), corner cushions for those pointy corners on the entertainment stand, coffee table etc, outlet covers, and baby gates.  I did try a stove guard, actually a few stove guards but I never found one that worked quite right.  Most baby safety devices are pretty affordable.

Fire Extinguisher: again for obvious reasons.  There are a few different types. Getting a multipurpose one for your home is probably a good idea.  What I didn’t realize when searching for prices on these things is that they actually make fire extinguisher aerosol cans now too. I’ve never personally used one so I can only imagine they’d only be good for a small cooking fire or something along those lines.

I also did a guest post on safety features to look for when buying a family vehicle.
