I received a gift card to UNICEF Market in order to complete an honest review. Any opinions expressed are my own. Giveaway is sponsored by Novica.
I’ve long been a fan of Novica. You know the site that has handcrafted products from artisans all over the world. They now have a sister site called UNICEF Market. Many of the items available on the site are the beautiful products you see on Novica. The difference is, when you purchase through the UNICEF Market, every order impacts children through UNICEF’s global program. Purchases through the UNICEF market will help in area like improving access to clean water, education, vaccines, nutrition, and more.
Since I had my first (and only) daughter 2 years ago I have a list of things I couldn’t wait to buy when I had her. Things like a dollhouse, baby dolls, dresses (hey I had 3 boys first) a jewelry box, etc. Don’t get me wrong, I had fun buying for my boys too but it’s a nice to buy some girly stuff for a change. I was able to scratch one of those things off my list on the UNICEF Market. I thought it fitting too since in buying a beautiful jewelry box for my daughter I would be helping someone else’s son or daughter in another country.
There were so many absolutely gorgeous jewelry boxes on UNICEF Market. Wooden, metal, glass, soap stone, whatever look you’re into. UNICEF Market gave me a budget of $50 and I had a lot of nice choices in that price range. I ended up choosing the Repousse Brass jewelry box “Majestic View” I wanted something that was going to last, something pretty. This definitely fit the bill with this jewelry box covered in glass beads.

This jewelry box was actually bigger than I expected which I was happy about. I figured for the price, the materials, and the craftmanship it would probably only be big enough to put a necklace or two in and that’s it. It’s not though, it will hold a nice amount of jewelry for my daughter. I didn’t realize either until I saw it up close with the details. It has brass charms attached to it like crescent moons, seashells, and little curls. I know this might sound odd but when I see a box like this I always think of it like that mysterious box in a movie. You know the box that holds the special key or the box that contains antique treasures. No? Is it just me? Ok moving on…
I had to take a few pictures of the box just to show you that the artist did not skimp on the details by any means.

I wanted to show you the inside of the box. It has a black velvet lining and a mirror inside the lid. Since the lining is black it’s kinda hard to tell how deep the box is. The mirror is almost the the size of the whole inside of the lid.

My daughter is only two so it’s not like she has a lot of jewelry yet. I put her amber teething necklace in the box. Now I’m thinking, “well I guess I have to buy her some more jewelry” lol. Which by the way, UNICEF Market has lots of hand crafted jewelry as well. If you’re buying anything as a gift you can also have a free gift message sent with it. You can even choose to have your gift wrapped for a few dollars more.
