Holiday Guide 2014

Today I have a DIY post for a vanilla sugar body scrub using Nielsen-Massey Madagascar Bourbon Pure Vanilla Sugar.  This recipe is so simple and would make a great diy gift for the holidays!  Here’s what you need:

  • 1 8.5 oz bottle of Nielsen-Massey Madagascar Bourbon Pure Vanilla Sugar
  • 1/4 cup of Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • 1-2 drops of your favorite essential oil
  • a mixing bowl
  • spoon
  • waterproof jar for your finished scrub

Blog 004

Measure 1 cup of the Nielsen-Massey Madagascar Bourbon Pure Vanilla Sugar into the mixing bowl.  Add 1/4 c of Extra Virgin Olive Oil.  Add 1-2 drops of your favorite essential oil (I used lavender but whatever floats your boat).  Mix ingredients together and spoon into your waterproof jar.  You can decorate your jar with gift wrap, a bow, whatever you feel like if you’re giving it as a gift.

You an also find the recipe on the Nielsen-Massey website.

Nielsen-Massey Madagascar Bourbon Pure Vanilla Sugar would also be great in your recipes, as garnishes on cookies and drinks, and more.  You can also visit nielsenmassey.com for even more recipes using their pure vanilla products.  You can find out where to get your Nielsen-Massey products like the vanilla sugar for this diy post in their where to buy section.

Here is a video of my diy and how quick it was to put it together.  I have to apologize right now but this is proof that no one is perfect.  I did this awesome video got the whole way through it and hit the off button on my video camera instead of the stop button and it made my 1st video disappear.  So I did the video again doing a half recipe.  The idea is the same.

  1. This scrub looks lovely! And what a cute jar…these would make such great holiday gifts! 🙂 I pinned it and can’t wait to try it! 🙂 Hope I win the giveaway!

  2. with the Holidays coming up ,besides the Vanilla I would love to try the Pure Peppermint Extract

  3. I went to Nielsen Massey website and found another product I would like, the Rose Water. It sounds like it would be a great way add flavor to sugars and cookies. I also like that Rose Water is Gluten-Free Certified as well as All-Natural, Allergen-Free and GMO-Free.

  4. Some delicious looking recipes! I’m really intrigued by the idea of savory vanilla…the kona rubbed steak sounds deliicous.

  5. I would love to try the Pure Lemon Extract. Not sure if I have used anything but artificial before.

  6. I’m not sure what I’d do with it, but I sure would love to try the Pure Chocolate Extract. Hot Chocolate maybe?

  7. I’m interested in the Pure Peppermint Extract. Perfect in my sugar cookies with candy cane pieces.

  8. I’d like to try the Ribs with Smoky Vanilla BBQ Sauce recipe and Moist Double-Vanilla Cake recipe

  9. I would also love to try their Pure Almond Extract. I’ve learned over the years that if a recipe asks for Vanilla extract and you only use it, it can tend to get a little bit of a bitter taste, halving it up between vanilla and almond extract usually solves that problem, and gives it a little bit of a better taste 🙂

  10. My favorite product is the Madagascar Bourbon Pure Vanilla Extract. I use it religiously and Neilson-Massey is the only brand I ever buy!

  11. I REALLLLLY want to try the pure coffee extract too. I have never found one I really like. I need everything to taste like vanilla or coffee around here. YUMMY
