I love jewelry. The right piece of jewelry can really make an outfit. I love having a variety of colors and metals so I have something to match just about anything I put on. The problem is my budget is not always jewelry friendly.

I’m attending a memorial day picnic this year. We do it every year. Everyone on my dad’s side of the family and usually a few friends and such come over. It’s always a good time. My dad’s side of the family has Hungarian heritage and both my grandfather was a coal miner so we do a bacon roast. Not healthy at all but it’s soooo good. We take turns at whose house the picnic is at. This year it’s at my cousin’s house. I volunteered to bring dessert.

With all the cute cake ideas Betty Crocker has it was hard to choose. In the end I decided to go with the Ice Cream Cone cakes. I figured it would eliminate the need for extra plates and the kids would love it.

Super Easy. My youngest son loves to help bake. I gave him a few jobs to do.

The recipe says to put the batter in the muffin pans with cupcake liners then put the ice cream cones on top of the batter. I wasn’t really sure how well that was going to turn out since I never made them before. It ended up turning out just fine.

I’m not much of a baker so if I can do this, anyone can do this. I think it will be great. I let my youngest son try one to see how they turned out and he ate his without a trace left so it must have been good.

Finding the Right Insurance and Fitting it In Your Budget

I can say, at least in the state of PA, a lot of banks want you to have full-coverage on your vehicle to take out a loan. A way of protecting their investment. If you don’t have to finance your vehicle ask yourself if you can really afford to just have liability insurance. Do you have a sizeable amount in savings should you get into an accident? Don’t just think about if you have to repair your car. What if you had to replace your car or had your own medical expenses to deal with from an accident. If you choose full coverage, are you able to cover the deductible? Is there enough coverage for your family? When you talk to an insurance agent, let them know you’re on a budget and ask questions when it comes to the coverage.

When it come to other types of insurance think about what you really need. Do you really need flood insurance for your house? Check into the area, is it a flood prone area? When was the last incidence of flooding? Also remember that flood insurance could be considered in the case of your pipes breaking and flooding your basement or something along those lines. Check out the cost of the insurance verses what it would be to repair it on your own.

When it comes to supplemental insurance like AFLAC for example Sure they’re nice to have but do you really need a cancer policy? I can tell you I do have a cancer policy but I have a lot of cancer in my family. Both my mother and grandmother had breast cancer, my paternal grandfather had lung cancer, and I had 2 cousins with leukemia. For me it’s an investment and it does fit into my budget. I feel better knowing it’s there in case something would happen.

So again my best advice:

–Ask yourself do I really need it?

–If you need it, how much do you need?

–Ask your insurance agent questions, make sure they understand your budget

–Ask yourself, how much can you financially afford should the worst happen in the particular situation your looking at insurance for.
