New Gorton’s Smart & Crunchy It’s Fish 2.0

I received the below mentioned products as part of the Gorton’s Blogger program.  Any opinions expressed are my own.  I only do honest reviews.

I think Gorton’s Fish and Seafood products are pretty tasty.  I’ve always loved their potato crunch fish fillets and popcorn shrimp.  My kids love their fish sticks too.  Gorton’s has reinvented their fish sticks and fish fillets.  Kind of a fish 2.0 if you will, with the new Smart & Crunchy options.

Gortons smart and cruncy review

These new products are 100% Wild- Caught Alaska Pollock, have 50% less fat than regular fish sticks, and have less calories.  My question is, would the kids notice the difference and would they eat them?  I got the fish sticks and made them up.  I didn’t tell them any of the details.  My youngest son loves to help.  He’s at a stage where he can recognize sight words and get a few others he sees but I didn’t think he’d really know what the package said.

Gortons sc cooking

We had a nice family dinner together with Gorton’s Smart & Cruncy fish sticks.  The kids told me they really them.  My middle son told me he thinks they’re even better than the regular fish sticks we normally have.  If I’m to be honest, I’m not normally a big fish stick fan.  I’ll eat them but don’t normally “enjoy” them.  These once actually did enjoy.  They had a good flavor and crunchy just as the name suggests.  I was thinking they might be really good chopped up and sprinkled into a salad too.

My little ones always seem to eat better when we all eat together.  How do you do dinner?

Dial Hand Soap Boutique Collection

I received the below mentioned product to review as part of the Purex Insiders blogger program. Giveaway coupons are sponsored by Dial.

Dial already offers some great hand soaps with many options for scents and features.  The newest hand soap to the Boutique Collection is Sugar Can Husk Scrub.

DialBoutiquehandsoap

Dial Sugar Cane Husk Scrub hand soap has micro-scrubbers to help clean and moisturize.  It uses the scent of freshly cut sugar cane.  I had to wonder what fresh cute sugar cane actually smelled like.  The only time I think I’d ever really seen sugar cane at all was at a local grocery store one time.  They had a been of sugar cane you could buy…really I think it was more of a novelty thing.  I was only a kids.  I remember looking at it thinking, how in the world do we get sugar from that?

I tried the hand soap.  So has the rest of my family.  It cleans really well.  I expected more of a rough texture but it really wasn’t. My hands did feel softer after using it compared to other hand soaps I’ve used.  The soap did have a sweeter scent to it.  Keeping in mind the fact that I’ve never really smelled freshly cut sugar cane, the scent was pleasant.  I could see how it could possibly smell like fresh cut sugar cane.

DialBoutiquesoap

The micro scrubbers are not blatantly obvious when you look at it.  Even when I use it the micro scrubbers are very small and gentle on my hands.  You can find this conditioning soap and may others on the Dial website.

AMI Clubwear for Affordable Prom Dresses

I will be receiving a dress from AMIClubwear for this post.  Any opinions expressed are my own.  Giveaway is sponsored by AMIClubwear.

It’s hard to believe that it’s time to pick out Prom dresses again.  Didn’t we just have Christmas? For high school girls, picking out the right prom dress can be a big deal.  I remember picking mine out.  My parents didn’t have a lot of money and I was given a very small budget.  I always ended up finding something I liked. Man I wish the internet was like it is now.  I could have gotten a great dress from AMIclubwear.com for half the budget my parents gave me…even for back then.   I’m not going to say how long ago that was but trust me, times have changed.

AMIclubwear.com has prom dresses to fit just about any budget. Long or short, cocktail style, or mermaid dresses they have a big selection. If I were to pick one out for myself now I think I like the White Crochet Sheer Maxi Dress.  It covers enough while still being pretty and feminine.  It’s a unique design.  You know how important it is not to have the same dress as another girl at the prom right?  So unique is definitely a good thing. The best part?  This one is on sale right now for $11.99. Yea no kidding!

If you’re into a shorter style, more of a cocktail style dress they have plenty of those too.  I’m more of a contemporary gal so my pics are usually classic with maybe a pop of color here or there. There are lots of choices including ones that are more colorful, a little more risque too.  So whatever your style, I’m sure you could find a few dresses you like on the site.  I found this cocktail dress I thought was cute.  I liked the color, especially with my darker hair.  They also have the dress in royal blue and aqua.  Can you guess the price on this dress?  I bet you won’t.  It’s only $13.99 on the site!

I’m also a fan of shimmer and glitter.  I saw this dress too that I thought was pretty.  After prom you could even use it for a new year’s party or date night dress.  This one is listed as the Gold Shimmer Mesh Sexy Party Dress.  This one is only $17.99 on the site right now!

See I told you, prom dresses can be affordable.  Oh and if you spend $50 on the site you can get free domestic shipping!  They also sells shoes including heels and flats, handbags, and hosiery on the site.  You could get a whole outfit on the site for less then may will pay for just their dress alone!

I will be reviewing a dress from AMIClubwear too.  I choose 5 different dresses and they’ll be sending me one from my choices. I can’t wait to see which one they send.  I’ll link my review post up here as soon as it’s ready.

GeckoTech Shoplet Review

I received the below mentioned products as part of the Shoplet blogger review program.

If you’re looking for office supplies shoplet.com is the place to go.  They have everything from promotional products for your business to office stationary and more.  It’s been a while since I’ve done a shoplet review but I had an interest in trying the products I was offered for review.

When we first moved into our house, there was just four of us.  Me, my husband, and my two oldest sons.  We had planned on have more kids at some point so we wanted some room to grow and ability to add on if we needed to. Two kids later, our house doesn’t seem as big anymore.  Toy, kids furniture, sports equipment, school supplies, all that.  Our house is an OLD house.  Built somewhere around the beginning of the 1900s and you could tell not much had changed since then.  That included storage space. Very small closest in 2 bedrooms, no closets in the other two, and and a number of other things.  So you can imagine storage is at a premium in this house.  We had to get creative with organizing and storing.  Reusable hooks have been my go to for getting the kids backpacks off the floor, for hanging purses, etc.

I received GeckoTech products to review from Shoplet.  I had never heard of GeckoTech before this review and was interested to see if a GeckoTech reusable hook could earn it’s place in my house.

Blog 005

I also received Duck Packaging Tape to review.  Of course I could always use packaging tape.  Not only for shipping packages but packing up some of the stuff the kids have outgrown or don’t use anymore.

Blog 001

Ok the GeckoTech reusable hooks.  They looked interesting.  The whole square part of the hook is sticky on the back.  You need to clean the surface you’re planning on using it on.  Then wipe it down with rubbing alcohol, let it dry then stick your hook.  To remove it you have to use a hair dryer to heat it and remove it.  You’re supposed to use them on a non-porous surface.

The hook for my wreaths on my front door fell off a while ago.  I tried the smaller of the GeckoTech hooks on the front door.  I was worried it wouldn’t stick since my front door is mostly glass and it’s been cold here.  I followed the steps and stuck  my hook.

Blog 006

What I liked about putting it on the glass door is that it kinda blended in with the rest of the glass so it wasn’t glaringly obvious.  I hung my wreath on it to see if it would hold up.

Blog 007

This hook is still up and it’s been over a month.  No problems here.  After this one worked so well I used the bigger one, that’s supposed to hold up to 5 lbs, in my foyer closet to hand my son’s backpack on.  I followed the steps again and stuck it to the paneling in the closet.  My guess is the paneling is too porous. I didn’t even have time to get a picture and the hook fell off the wall backpack and all. It landed on the closet floor which is  hard wood and has our shoes on the floor. As you can imagine, the closet floor can get a bit dirty due to the shoes and other things the kids drag in the house.  The sticky had dirt stuck on it, I couldn’t clean it off, and it wasn’t visually appealing to hang anymore.

The other issue I had is that, in order to remove them (when they actually stick) you have to use a hair dryer.  Um, I have one outlet in my foyer and there’s no way my cord on my hair dryer would reach to the hook from the outlet so I’m thinking the only way I can remove it if I ever want to is to use an extension cord.

So that’s it for the hooks.  Moving onto the Duck packing tape.  I’m gonna tell you I feel really dumb but I had no idea how to make the tape work. The tape seemed to be on the roll backward. The tape itself was good tape but for the life of me I couldn’t figure out  how it was supposed to roll of and cut properly.

Blog 002

I know it’s hard to tell in the picture but the way it was on the roll the sticky part was actually facing down towards the cutting edge to to unroll it like you’re supposed to when sealing up a package I had to pull it off like regular tape and cut it with a pair of scissors. Since the sticky side was facing the cutter I couldn’t flip it over and use it like I was supposed to.  Other packaging tapes I’ve used were easy. Just roll it across the package, and bend my wrist forward a little to cut it.  I thought that there had to be something I just wasn’t getting but I couldn’t figure it out.  If anyone else knows please tell me.

So to some up.  The GeckoTech hooks worked well on glass, not on my  paneling. The removal method won’t always work in all situations.  And the tape, while the tape quality itself was good, the rolling/cutting mechanism was off. Not sure if I just had a goof roll or not.

The new UNICEF Market

I received a gift card to UNICEF Market in order to complete an honest review.  Any opinions expressed are my own. Giveaway is sponsored by Novica.

I’ve long been a fan of Novica.  You know the site that has handcrafted products from artisans all over the world.  They now have a sister site called UNICEF Market.  Many of the items available on the site are the beautiful products you see on Novica.  The difference is, when you purchase through the UNICEF Market, every order impacts children through UNICEF’s global program.  Purchases through the UNICEF market will help in area like improving access to clean water, education, vaccines, nutrition, and more.

Since I had my first (and only) daughter 2 years ago I have a list of things I couldn’t wait to buy when I had her. Things like a dollhouse, baby dolls, dresses (hey I had 3 boys first) a jewelry box, etc.  Don’t get me wrong, I had fun buying for my boys too but it’s a nice to buy some girly stuff for a change.  I was able to scratch one of those things off my list on the UNICEF Market.  I thought it fitting too since in buying a beautiful jewelry box for my daughter I would be helping someone else’s son or daughter in another country.

There were so many absolutely gorgeous jewelry boxes on UNICEF Market. Wooden, metal, glass, soap stone, whatever look you’re into.  UNICEF Market gave me a budget of $50 and I had a lot of nice choices in that price range. I ended up choosing the Repousse Brass jewelry box “Majestic View” I wanted something that was going to last, something pretty.  This definitely fit the bill with this jewelry box covered in glass beads.

UNICEF market jewelry box

This jewelry box was actually bigger than I expected which I was happy about.  I figured for the price, the materials, and the craftmanship it would probably only be big enough to put a necklace or two in and that’s it.  It’s not though, it will hold a nice amount of jewelry for my daughter.  I didn’t realize either until I saw it up close with the details.  It has brass charms attached to it like crescent moons, seashells, and little curls. I know this might sound odd but when I see a box like this I always think of it like that mysterious box in a movie.  You know the box that holds the special key or the box that contains antique treasures. No? Is it just me? Ok moving on…

I had to take a few pictures of the box just to show you that the artist did not skimp on the details by any means.

UNICEF Market jewelry top

I wanted to show you the inside of the box.  It has a black velvet lining and a mirror inside the lid.  Since the lining is black it’s kinda hard to tell how deep the box is.  The mirror is almost the the size of the whole inside of the lid.

UNICEF Market jewelry open

My daughter is only two so it’s not like she has a lot of jewelry yet.  I put her amber teething necklace in the box.  Now I’m thinking, “well I guess I have to buy her some more jewelry” lol.  Which by the way, UNICEF Market has lots of hand crafted jewelry as well. If you’re buying anything as a gift you can also have a free gift message sent with it.  You can even choose to have your gift wrapped for a few dollars more.
