There are plenty of awesome things to do in Pittsburgh like the zoo, museums, amusement parks, and water parks but what are some unique things that you won’t find just anywhere? Here are a few:
1. Fun Slides Carpet Skate park, yea you read that right. Right now there are only 2 in the world and they’re both around Pittsburgh. Fun Slides was the idea of the inventor of those slides that help move your furniture. He created the Fun Slide that velcro to your shoes then came up with the idea for an indoor carpeted skate park. My family and I visited the location in Greensburgh, PA and we had a blast.
2. Just Ducky Tours – I understand these types of tours do happen in a few other cities but it’s not a common tour. You ride in a vehicle to tour downtown Pittsburgh but then it also goes into the water into Pittsburgh 3 rivers. So you get a land and water tour in one. I had one opportunity to go on this tour in the past but I had just had a baby and it just wasn’t the appropriate time for me. I still want to do this tour so bad. I think it would be so cool
3. Heinz Field Stadium Tour — Get to see the stadium of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Get a behind the scenes look at the luxury boxes, Press Box, and more. I had to opportunity to have lunch with a Steeler here a few years ago and the stadium is just amazing.
4. Primanti Bros – yum, seriously some of the best sandwiches and salads around, huge too. Every have a salad or sandwich with fries on it before? You can here and it’s sooooo good. There are a few Primanti Bros. locations in and around Pittsburgh. I’ve also heard they have one in Florida. My husband had never been so I made sure to take him and the kids one trip to Pittsburgh. That’s one of the only places he wants to eat when we’re out that way now.
5. Gateway Clippers – There boats offer everything from tours, to hosting concerts, great views for watching fireworks, special theme dinners, theme cruises like the Princess cruise, and more. People can even book them for their wedding. I’ve been on them before and it’s a really cool experience. We did it for a school field trip.
6. Andy Warhol museum – Ok so it’s a museum but it’s a museum dedicated to this artist from Pittsburgh. There’s even a floor for …um…adults only for his more..risque works
