Waxelene, petroleum jelly alternative

Waxelene is the petroleum jelly altnerative.  It contains no petroleum, only natural and organic ingredients.  It can moisturize, protect, and smooth skin just like petroleum jelly only naturally.  Waxelene can provide a waterproof barrier making it a safe and natural choice things like preventing diaper rash, chaffing, and dry or cracked skin.  Waxelene won’t clog pores and is a great moisturizer for dry skin.

Waxelene is made from organic soybean oil, beeswax, organic rosemary oil, and natural vitamin E.  No artificial ingredients.  Packaged in a glass jar and made in the USA.

When I tried this product I had a lot of things I wanted to do with it to really put it to the test.  Would it really work like petroleum jelly?  The first thing I did was apply it to my dry lips.  I loved the feel of the product on my lips.  You couldn’t visually see that I had it on but it made my lips feel so smooth.  The feeling lasted for hours too.

The next thing I tried was to apply it to my knuckles  and other areas on my hand that tends to dry out.  I have to wash my hands often at work and my hands dry out pretty easy.  This product felt great on my hands.  Sometimes when I apply a petroleum based product to my hands it makes my hands feel greasy.  This product did not give my hands that greasy feeling.

Then during one of my youngest son’s diaper changes, I decided to give it a try.  The product applied smoothly to his gentle skin. It seemed to work well as a wetness barrier.

I think I’m going to have my hubby give this a try.  His work uniform often rubs and he has to apply some type of barrier to his skin.  I think this might work out well for him.  The product also says you can use it for things like make up removal as well.  I’m gonna have to try that myself.

I like the way Waxelene works. I love that it’s a natural product and made right here in the US.  This is definitely a product I will be using again.

Do you have Direct TV?

Have you ever talked to someone about tv service?  Maybe you were complaining about your bill, maybe you were discussing channels you get and don’t get with a neighbor, or whatever.  It seems like most of those conversations get into a debate about Direct TV, cable, or another dish service.  Everyone thinks their service is the best.  Unless you’ve actually switched to another service at one point, you may not have much to compare.  You just have to go by what people are telling you.

There are 2 major things I always look at.  I look at price and the value for the price. In other words how can I get the most amount of channels, with a reliable service, without breaking the bank.  Of course I’m not about to start skimping on groceries just so my hubby can have the NFL network.  Priorities are priorities.
I had the opportunity do this post for Direct TV.  I took it.  Why?  I thought it would make me learn a little more myself.
When you visit DirectTV’s website, http://www.dx3.net/, the first thing you’ll notice is the deal they have going, they call it “The Big Deal”.  You can lock in two years of savings for $29.99 a month with rebates.  But my question is, “What do I get for that $29.99?”  To start you get 4 premium movie channels include for 3 months.  Then you get a free HD DVR and up to 3 HD receivers. If you want more you have to pay extra.  I don’t know about you but I don’t have more than 4 tvs in my house.  HD Channels are included and DirectTV on demand.  So far, doesn’t sound to bad.
Just a note though, there’s a little green banner in the corner that says NFL Sunday Ticket included but in the itsy bitsy fine print it says for Choice Xtra packages and above.  So don’t get too excited there football fans.
Also I think when considering switching for financial purposes that there may also be handling & deliverying fees, as well as taxes in some areas so keep that in mind.
Direct TV or I guess as the kids are calling it these days, dx3 Direct TV, includes 285 channels, 170 of which are actually HD channels.  That’s plenty for me. Unfortunately I’m having a hard time finding which channels are actually included in the packages.  There are certain channels that are a must in our house so I’d like to know if they’re included.

Do you have Direct TV?  If so, what do you think about it?

Whitney Farms 100% natural plant food, a better way to feed your plants

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Whitney Farms for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

I don’t claim to have a green thumb but I do like to have a small garden each year.  I have a small shade garden on the side of my house and a small vegetable/fruit garden in the back yard.  I tried to have a perennial garden once until my hubby chopped everything down thinking they were weeds and then sprayed them with weed killer. Oy!

I love having my gardens.  The last year or two I’ve been trying to find more info on having a more natural, organic garden.  There is a number of aspects to consider from having organic soil to pest control that won’t harm your plants, kids, or the environment.  Weeding is another time consuming thing so I had to look into safer ways to inhibit weed growth.

In my search one thing I found was organic plant food that is 100% natural.  No additives, just ingredients straight from the earth.  One such brand I found was Whitney Farms®.  While you’re there, sign up to get a $3 off coupon

Whitney Farms has had 25+ years of gardening experience.  Their products have low to no dust, no manure odor, are easy to apply, contain beneficial microbes, and have specially designed protein blends that provide your plants with macor and micronutrients that they need to grow.

I’ve used other brands of plant food before but I really didn’t know what was in them.  I worried about if my kids would get a hold of it or what it was really doing to the soil. With organic plant food I feel better knowing that everything in it comes from nature.

Organic Plant Food

I always look at my garden catalogs I receive.  I see the pictures of perennial gardens that could be and think, I’d like to have a garden like that some day.

Tombow Glue review, not your average tape runner

When I first got my Tombow glue permanent tape runner product, I thought it looked just like a normal scrapbooking tape runner.  There’s nothing wrong with that, they work well.  I took it out of the package and decided to try it with a nice thank you note I had received from a friend.  See I have the wall above my desk plastered with cute pics and things the kids have made at school. I also post thoughtful cards or notes that friends or family have gave me.  If I need inspiration or just need a pick me up.  I just look up at my wall.  It almost always helps.

Anyway, back to the Tombow glue tape runner.  The product itself fits in the palm of my hand.  It’s light weight and easy to use.  It rolls the glue on in the same manner as other tape runners?  So why is it different?  Well for one, I love the hand little flip open cap on the end to prevent the glue from sticking to things when you put it away in your desk drawer or craft cabinet.

There there’s the fact that the glue isn’t really a tape so much.  It’s a clear glue that rolls on.  It’s barely noticable once you apply it to your product.  I have a picture of me applying it to the back of my thank you card I wanted to hang up.  I had already put the glue in 4 different places.  Bet you can’t see where I put it though.

It doesn’t need any drying time.  I went ahead and stuck my card up on my paneled wall to see if it would even stay. It’s actually sticking quite nicely,

Tombow Glue is also refillable.  You can buy the refills right now for only $1.78!  Tombow Glue would be great for all kinds of projects: scrapbooking, paper art, bulletin boards, card making, school projects, and lots more.  Tombow glue is acid free and photo safe.
