How To Find Out If Your Vehicle Has Been Recalled

car yellow

Every so often there will be recalls on vehicles.  Recalls might happen  to fix a defect or check for one. But how do you know if your vehicle is part of a recall?  There are several reliable ways to find out.

–The National Highway Highway Traffic and Safety Administration has information on their site as well as Safercar.gov.

–Your local news station may report mass recalls and recalls that may be major safety concerns

–Your local car dealership.  If you own a Mazda, for instance, you might want to call your local Mazda dealership if you think you vehicle might be part of a recall.  They could tell you if it is and fix the issue.

–Lastly, if your car is included in a recall, the auto maker should send you a letter.  This isn’t necessarily the quickest way to find out though since it could take 2-3 months to receive the letter after a recall is announced.

What to do if your vehicle is part of a recall

Contact your local dealership. They will fix the problem, for free. If you already paid to fix an issue before you knew about the recall, keep your receipt.  You may be able to be reimbursed.  Here is a helpful video from SaferCar.gov

Automakers want to fix your vehicle. Not only for safety but having safety issues with vehicles is not exactly good word of mouth if they don’t fix it.  Don’t be afraid to contact your local dealership and talk to them.

Potty Training Child Number 4 With Huggies Pull-Ups® Training Pants

Dollar General Linquia Huggies Pull Ups campaign

So we’ve been in the process of potty training our 4th and youngest child.  One might think I was an expert at this by now but alas, I am not.  Each kid had their own personality. Each kid had interests at different times.  The one thing that’s been a constant and helps both me and my potty training kid are Huggies Pull-Ups® from Dollar General.

My youngest is my only daughter. The only girl I’ve had to work on potty training with.  She started showing an interest in potty training about a year and a year ago.  I’d start putting her on her little potty when I went to the potty.  She didn’t do anything at first but pretty quickly she learned to pee on the potty. Peeing on the potty is not the issue right now, it’s doing #2.   She’ll literally go and hid behind the couch or under a table and poop her pants. Some of my boys did that too and I have no idea why.  Unfortunately she’s so quiet about it I don’t always know what she’s doing until I hear a grunt or smell her.  If I catch her on time I’ll immediately carry her to the potty.

One thing I though might encourage her is getting her “big girl” Huggies Pull-Ups® training pants from Dollar General.  (Just so you know they also have a $2 off coupon in the DG digital coupons section.)  Huggies Pull-Ups® training pants have some of her favorite characters on them like Doc McStuffins, Sophia the First, and Cinderella for the overnight ones.

When it’s warm enough I let her just run around the house in a shirt and her Huggies Pull-Ups® so she’s ready when she has to go.

I also set the timer on the stove for 1 hour. Every time she goes I set the timer for an hour again. When she hears the timer go off she knows it’s time to go potty again.  The funny part is now sometimes when I use the timer for cooking she hears it and heads right to the bathroom.

We have bathroom upstairs and a bathroom downstairs. I keep a seat insert for the downstairs toilet and a toddler potty for the upstairs bathroom.  I can’t really say one works better for her than the other.  Of all the things we use I think the Huggies Pull-Ups training pants and the timer are the key tools for her.  I also took the Pull Ups Potty Training Personality Quiz because I could use all the help I can get. Just because I’m potty training my 4th kid doesn’t mean I don’t still needs some advice now and again.

If you’re working on potty training too, leave your potty training tips and tricks. And don’t forget to pick up Huggies Pull Ups at Dollar General and use the $2 off DG digital coupons to save even more! And here’s some fun potty training games to try.

Kinsa Smart Thermometer FREE After Swagbucks Issued!

If you’re a parent, you know how important it is to be prepared for your kid’s next fever. We try to always keep them healthy, but a sick day now and again is inevitable. Keeping a small supply of electrolyte fluids, maybe some Jell-o or Popsicles, kid-safe fever reducers, and, of course, a thermometer for the next sick day is second nature to many of us. But, while that pack of Jell-o might last forever in your cupboard, it’s probably time you upgraded to a thermometer that’s built for our modern lives.

kinsa thermometer

Kinsa is a company that specializes in this new breed of “Smart” thermometers, that interact with your smartphone to document your child’s temperature over time and help you make decisions about whether a good nights sleep and a cold towel will do, or if it’s time to check in with your pediatrician. Simply plug the Kinsa Smart Thermometer into your phone’s headphone jack (either on its own or with an optional extension cord) and launch their free app to see how Kinsa will work for you. The app has interactive games for kids to stay engaged and patient while the thermometer delivers an accurate reading, and by using your smartphone, Kinsa takes advantage of 25,000X the processing power of a regular digital thermometer. Tapping into the smartphone’s power, processing and display also means there are virtually no electronics inside – and no batteries are required – so the thermometer is extremely lightweight and durable for carrying with you, and is always ready for use.

Now, I get it, we don’t use thermometers every day, and $24.99 is a lot to pay for something that will mostly just sit in your medicine cabinet. But I found this great deal on Swagbucks where you can quite literally get the Kinsa Smart Thermometer for absolutely FREE. Here’s how it works:

  • Next, follow this link to get $5 off the Kinsa Smart Thermometer – $19.99 instead of it’s regular price of $24.99. Don’t worry, shipping is completely free within the US and there are no reoccurring payments. As I mentioned earlier, the associated Kinsa App is also free.

  • Once you complete your purchase, Swagbucks will give you 2000 SB, enough for a $20 PayPal gift card and only 200 SB shy of a $25 Amazon card.

That’s a pretty good deal, right? Buy a $20 Smart Thermometer and get a $20 in PayPal cash. It gets even better for those of you new to Swagbucks. Earning 2000 SB in one go is more than enough for you to get a 300 SB April Three Pour All Bonus (awarded on May 5th), netting you 2300 SB, worth a $25 Amazon or Target gift card and only 200 SB short of $25 PayPal cash. All that bonus might make you forget you’re getting a state-of-the-art Smart Thermometer in the process!
