National Oatmeal Day 2014 with Aveeno #AveenoLovesOat

The power of the oat. It can quench dry skin, help lower cholesterol, help make a tasty cookie, and a warm breakfast.  Aveeno knows too well what oats can do for your body.  That’s why products you’ll see oatmeal in some of Aveeno’s products like the Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion that is clinically proven to relieve dry skin and moisturizes for 24 hours thanks to the help of oatmeal.

Did you know that October 29 is National Oatmeal Day?  It’s true.  As an Aveeno ambassador I sometimes get to try some pretty cool things.  I don’t always know when they send me something until it’s sitting on my porch.  Today was one of those days.  Aveeno gets really into National Oatmeal Day so then sent me an #AveenoLovesOat ambassador package.  I opened my box and found this gorgeous hand woven Mochila bag inside.

I had never heard of Mochila bag but it says each bag is one of a kind. They are hand woven tribal totes made by the indigenous Wayuu men and women from La Guajira in Northern Columbia. Each bag takes 3-4 weeks to be made! Can you imagine?  Mochila practices fair trade with the tribes that make these and allows them to carry on with their way of life.  They use natural materials from their area.  Natural is important to them because it helps them continue to create these bags as close to tradition as possible.  They come in different colors, patterns, and sizes. Several celebs have been seen carrying Mochila bags as well.

Now that I told you about the bag you’re probably wondering what’s in it and what this has to do with National Oatmeal Day right?  Well of course Aveeno filled my bag with oatmeal related products.

My bag contained the Aveeno Daily Moisturizing lotion that uses oatmeal as an active ingredient. It’s hands down, one of my fave body lotions, Aveeno soothing bath treatment that uses 100% natural colloidal oatmeal to soothe dry skin, and irritated skin from things like poison ivy, rashes, eczema, insect bites, and more.  I remember my mom using it for us when we had chicken pox as a kid.  Last but not least I received a special Mixmyown.com oatmeal the #AveenoLovesOat National Oatmeal Day Mix! I can’t wait to try it!
