Walmart Holiday Toyland has the hottest toys chosen by kids to be the top toys this holiday season. Take your child to one of the Walmart Holiday Toyland events at your local Walmart to let them be an “Official Toy Tester” I took my youngest son on Saturday November 8. He got to see several of the things he wanted on his Christmas list. He really wants LEGO Junior Batcave and MATCHBOX® WRECKY THE WRECKING BUDDY™ Both of those toys were there for him to touch and try.
The lady that helped us at the Chosen by Kids table was so nice. She let him play as long as he wanted. She even told us where we could find wrecking roaming one of the aisles. As you can imagine my son was having a good ole time playing with some of the toys he’s asking Santa for this year. He even got an “Official Toy Tester” sticker he wore proudly in the store. We purchased MATCHBOX® WRECKY THE WRECKING BUDDY™ while we were there and my son took his Official Toy Tester job quite seriously. He spent hours reviewing his new toy just so I could give you all a thorough review.
He was grinning from ear to ear when I told him he would get to play with it at home. He anxiously awaited until I got all the ties and tape undone to get MATCHBOX® WRECKY THE WRECKING BUDDY™ out of his box. He started playing with it and we realized it wasn’t doing everything it was supposed to. Silly me, there was a little plastic tab I had to pull out to get it out of demo mode..THEN..Wrecky really started talking and became more animated.
Once Wrecky started talking it was game on from there. Once my son figured out how to work the wrecking ball his imagination really sparked. He started finding things for him to knock down. He even started building walls with some of his bricks to see if he could knock them down.
My son played with MATCHBOX® WRECKY THE WRECKING BUDDY™ for almost 2 hours at a clip. I did have to ask him to shut it off a few times because he was quite loud but my son would come back an hour or so later and say “Can I play with Wrecky again” Definitely a hit with my 5 year old son. The headlights lit up, when you pull the smoke stacks different directions he does different things. He actually has 5 different play modes: carrying cargo, dumping, breaking barriers, clearing the area and a celebration dance. The breaking barriers was definitely my son’s fave mode. He got a kick out of some of the things he says and the sounds he makes. Wrecky drives around by himself. When he hits into something he says things like “That’s gonna leave a mark!”
My son was having so much fun with his new toy I decided to take a short video of him using his favorite feature: breaking barriers:
If you’d like to take your kids or grand kids to try some of these toys at the Walmart Holiday Toyland check the dates and locations to see when/where they are near you.
Love that smile! Wrecks looks like a blast… I want one for me! 🙂
lol thanks. I have older boys too ages 10 and 12 and they wanted to “help” they’re little brother with it. Yes I caught them playing with it a few times too 🙂
Very cool toy! I think any boy would love to find it under the tree.
Wrecky looks like so much fun. I can tell your son loves him. Thanks for sharing.

My boys loved Wrecky too! So much fun 🙂
That is one awesome toy! I think I am going to have to get this for my youngest boy. Thanks for sharing. =)
Oh my goodness! Such a cute truck — brings back memories from when my boys were young. They had a motorized soft side truck and loved it. Boys and trucks — it’s a thing!
yea definitely. My boys (and even my little girl) just love playing with cars and trucks. The truck your boys had sounds like fun too!
This looks like a wonderful toy. I want one for my Grandson, Adam!
Your son looks like he had a blast and I agree Wreck looks like such a cool truck my boys would love it!
Your son is absolutely adorable and Wrecky is too cute. I was at Walmart on Saturday and didn’t see anyone there for the #ChosenByKids campaign but plan on trying again this weekend. Thank you for sharing with us!
Awe thanks Heather. My little buddy. The lady at our Walmart was so nice. She was talking to us about the toys and age ranges. All kinds of info. Very helpful, she was
So Fun! My boys love their Wrecky!!
These toys look so cool, amazing for the young boys in the family!
My son would probably enjoy this toy. He is 3 so I’m not sure if it’s the best idea. This age for boys is tough.
Cute! I have some nephews that would love this for a gift! 🙂
I bet they would. He’s funny and what boy doesn’t like wrecking stuff lol We do donations to our local toy drive for less fortunate kids in our town. I bought an extra one to donate to the toy drive hoping to make some little one’s Christmas
It looks like you had a good time at the event and your son definitely likes his new toy. Thanks for sharing the event.
That looks like such a fun toy! A great gift idea for this year!
He looks like he was having a ton of fun!!
I keep meaning to take my kids to one of those events
It’s pretty cool. It gave ….Santa…a better idea of it was something he really wanted or something he just saw a commercial for and decided to put it down. Seeing him play with Wrecky and the LEGO Batcave set, I know they are something that will make a good gift for Christmas. I love being able to see and try the toys to make sure
Looks like such fun! We attended one of the ChosenByKids events in October. My daughter loved the go go walking pet. She’d love Wrecky, too.
Definitely. I know I played with matchbox cars and things just as much as my Barbies as a little girl. I know I would have had a blast with something like this. My daughter is only 19 months and she loved watching him light up and spin around
This is awesome and I didn’t know they had this at Walmart. I will have to share this with my sisters and niece. Thanks for sharing. Your son is so cute and you can tell he was having so much fun testing it.
Awe thanks so much. He truly did. Yes anyone with little ones around. It’s a great way to see the toys up close and test them before buying.
Hi Angie,
My grandson would love the Wrecking Buddy! I’m going to add this to his list :). Thanks for sharing the ideas!
Thanks for stopping by. I’m glad it gave you an idea 🙂
Oh my gosh that looks like so much fun! Thanks for the videos that really helps! I saw this when I was at Walmart the other day but to see it in action is great! I know a little boy who will be finding one of these under the tree this year for sure! Fun Fun!!
So cute! I may be a girl but I grew up with matchbox cars! I miss playing with our racetracks!
I did too. I played with my LEGOS, matchbox cars, and GI Joes just as much as my Barbies, My Little Ponies, and baby dolls
Wrecky looks like he would be the perfect gift for my nephew!
This looks like so much fun! My nephews would love this!
That looks like the most adorable toy and loads of fun.
