As a frugal mom, I’m a fan reusable.  It try to buy reusable when I can because it definitely saves money over time. Buying reusable is also better for our earth.  Straws are handy things but they are also not recycled very often.  While one straw might not seem like much think about all the straws used in a day all around you.  That plastic takes a very long time to break down and some even contains chemicals that just aren’t good for us or our earth.

Eco at Heart know this.  With the launch of their first product Eco at Heart stainless steel straws, they’re doing their part in making it easy to be more eco-friendly.

I had about half a dozen reusable glass straws from a couple of different companies.  While very pretty, I always worried about the glass aspect with 4 kids. What if they’d get chipped in storage, we wouldn’t know. One of us could cut out lip? What if one of the kids dropped one and it shattered everywhere and I missed a piece or two? Well my daughter, at 16 months got a hold of a few of them and that’s just what happened.  She smashed them on the floor.  She had found them in one of the drawers, took them out of the box they were in and started playing with them.  I grabbed her up quick and cleaned up the kitchen.  I was still finding itty bitty pieces of glass a couple days later.

I want to be eco-friendly but I also want it to be the best option for my family.  When I had the chance to try these Eco at Heart stainless steel straws, I felt better about these.  The boys thought they were cool looking and were looking for an excuse to use them right away.  They are extra wide – 3/8″ which is a good width for smoothies and shakes.  They come with a brush to help  you clean them easier which I liked.  The quality of the straws is darn near flawless: smooth, solid, perfectly straight, light weight, sturdy, and has the Eco at Heart name lazor etched on the side of each straw.

My boys couldn’t wait to try them.  they were looking for excuses to use them.  They liked the look of the Eco at Heart steel straws better than the glass one we had anyway.  You can actually chill your Eco at Heart straws in the fridge as an added way to help keep your drinks cold too.  These straws are BPA free and dishwasher safe.  They have a 100% satisfaction or your money back guarantee.  They also come with a free ebook with 25 smoothie recipes!

So what did my boys think of them?  They loved them too.  My oldest son said he could be the boy model lol.

  1. I’d drink a cold glass of orange juice. (I just realized that I left this comment on a different post, lol).

  2. I would use it for drinking some of my smoothies, or juices in general… or maybe even iced tea! 😀

  3. I think we would love these, My husband after work always has a mixed drink, and has to have a straw, so that would be his, for me, I love straws in everything as well, and i buy a pack a week so this would be great!! so green and save money too, I would put mine in my ice tea. or my crystal light. thank you so much

  4. This is so innovative! I haven’t even heard of it – but I love the idea. Do they taste metallic-y? I hate when things taste like metal

  5. i’ll def use this for the water i drink with essential oils in it. stainless steel is the best for essential oils.
