I kept seeing friends posting about how they got a free ring doorbell system and was pretty skeptical of course. Admittedly I didn’t bite right away even though the one friend posting about it is a police officer and I’ve known her almost my whole life.
Well I decided to give it a try. I figure, the worst that would happen is I wouldn’t get the free doorbell.
Neighbors by ring is a free app that gives you crime alerts in your area. Even if you don’t have any ring products you can still use the free app. When you download the Neighbors by ring app through my referral link you’ll get $10 in credit to use on ring right away. If you’re not familiar with ring doorbells it’s a video doorbell system so you can see who is at your door and even answer it when you’re not home through your smartphone! ring also makes other security products if you’re not interested in the doorbell. Just click any link in this post to download the free Neighbor by ring app to get your $10 credit when you register and start sharing!
This year I’m not making New Year’s Resolutions I’m setting goals. As those goals get accomplished I’ll add more. One is to finally get an LLC done for this little blog. I’ve been wanting to do it for years but finally got the paperwork sent out. It’s currently in the mail!
Another goal I have is for my day job. I’m a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant at a local hospital. Amongst all my patients I truly love working with the Traumatic Brain Injury patients. I looked into becoming a Certified Brain Injury Specialist and it turns out I have all the pre-requisites. The one thing that’s been holding me back is the money. But I figure I’ll take that one chunk at a time too. Get my book to study first then when I feel ready, I’ll pay to take the certification test. It will happen this year!
Another goal I’ve been putting off is getting an updated professional family photo. We’ve only had one done and it’s when my youngest son was just a baby. We need one with my daughter in it. I feel like we have limited time to do it because my oldest will be 17 this year. Not long before he goes off to college or starts a job and gets too busy to find time to get into a family photo. I’m considering Bridget Coogle Photography for my family photo this year.
I had the opportunity to personally meet Bridget Coogle and, although she’s a Baltimore Ravens fan (just kidding) she was very personable and fun to be around. I think that’s important for a photographer. If you don’t feel comfortable and feel like you can be yourself then it’s hard to capture the true spirit of family.
Bridget is a professional photographer. She also finds peace in taking pictures in her travels. I love viewing Bridget Coogle Photography facebook page to see what kinds of things she thinks to capture. Whether it be a beautiful beach scene or a artsy pumpkin picture.
I also found out in my time in getting to know Bridget a little bit that she is a hard rock fan like myself. She attends concerts regularly and gets some awesome pics of some of my fave bands. You can see these on her website and on the Coogle Photography instagram page.
GIVEAWAY
Bridget Coogle Photography
is going to give one US winner a 11 X 14 Canvas of a print of their choice from her website.
I have goals for 2019. Not a resolution but things I’ve been putting off for one reason or other. I know I talked about it in my other New Year’s giveaway post but what better way to stay focused on the goals than to remind yourself and check things off the list.
I officially sent in the paperwork to make this little blog an LLC. I also hired a professional to create a logo for me to give the old blog a new look for 2019.
Besides this blog, I also work outside of my home as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA/L) at a hospital. One personal career goal I’ve had for myself for a couple years is to become a Certified Brain Injury Specialist. So first step to that goal will be getting the manual to start studying to take the certification test. I’ve held back on it for financial reasons mostly. I usually feel guilty spending money on myself with having 4 kids. But I have to remind myself that my patients will benefits, it will enhance my marketability, and make me feel like I’m not stagnant in my job.
I saw this quote and loved it. I thought it perfectly captures what I’m trying to do.
So I want to know, what goals do you have for 2019?

I’ve been thinking about creating an LLC for my blog for a few years now. I’ve known other bloggers that have done it but was a little shy about pulling the trigger. On one hand I had this blog I created, I make a side income on it, and I’m considered a professional blogger. On the other hand, did I really need to? Did I want to spend the money? Where do I even start? I’m no a lawyer! I don’t have a business degree! Help!
I looked into those online legal sites but I wasn’t going to get away without spending at least $350 for what seemed like the minimum but the way they worded things made it seem like you needed a lot more. I looked into getting a lawyer but just to get my foot in the door was going to be $225 not to mention what other charges there were. Well it turns out I have a friend that’s a legal secretary for a local lawyer and she guided me through the process getting an LLC for my blog in Pennsylvania. It was a lot easier than what I expected.
All of the links you need for business formation forms in Pennsylvania can be found here. I chose to do an LLC to help protect my personal assets should anything crazy happen. For my blog the only things I needed for my LLC in Pennsylvania was the certificate of organization form and the docketing statement. Eventually I will do a fictitious name too.
Hearing some of the scary stories of what have happened to a few bloggers and reading inspiring stories like Matt Redhawk and Parker helped me finally take the step. I’m proud to say the paperwork and check for my LLC are in the mail to Harrisburg!
