BROOKIE COOKIE Creme Pies Yum! review and giveawa

BROOKIE COOKIE is a cookie brand that’s fairly new.  The original BROOKIE COOKIE product looked like a cookie but tasted like a brownie.  Since the original BROOKIE COOKIE the company itself had added a number of tasty gourmet products to the line up.  They are made in Brooklyn, NY but can be shipped all over the US by ordering on their website www.thebrookiecookie.com .

One of their products that I had the pleasure of trying is the BROOKIE COOKIE Creme Pie.

The Creme Pie consists of two BROOKIE COOKIE double chocolate cookies with vanilla creme between them.  Just looking at the product itself you can see the texture of the cookies.  Not too thick, not too thin.  The cookies are more of a crunchy cookie compared to, say, a soft bake or chewy cookie.  I took a bite out  of the creme pie.  The vanilla cream was very smooth and didn’t overwhelm the whole pie.  The crunch of the cookie with the texture of the smooth vanilla creme added to the pleasure eating this delicious treat.

The chocolate taste was amazing.  I’ll be honest, I only got one and I intended to split it with my youngest who was occupied with the TV.  He didn’t even know I had it.  After I took a bite I thought, Ok sorry there is no way I’m sharing this.  You can sort of see the rougher texture of the cookie in the above picture.  Very very tasty.

I also wanted to share that their BROOKIE COOKIES are natural gourmet products.  No harsh additives or preservatives, cage free eggs are used, only unbleached flour and no food colorings or dyes.  They  have nice gift boxes too to make these a fun an appreciated treat for Halloween or the upcoming holidays.

Besides the website, you can also find BROOKIE COOKIE on facebook: http://www.facebook.com/thebrookiecookies
and on twitter: @thbrookiecookie

Ok did I make you hungry yet?  Wanna chance to try the BROOKIE COOKIE Creme Pie for yourself?

Pine Brothers Softish Throat Drops review

Pine Brothers Softish Throat Drops are made in America since 1870.  There really an interesting story behind these throat drops. The story goes like this:

Ulysses S. Grant was President, the population of America hovered at 39 million, and the telephone was still a pipe dream, when in 1870 J. Herman Pine hung out a confectionery shingle on 8th Street above Walnut in Philadelphia and, along with his brother, sold their first batch of what they called ‘Pine Brothers Glycerine Tablets.’ In an attempt to relieve his own sore throat and those of his family members, Mr. Pine, a former German confectionery maker, determined that by combining the soothing natural qualities of glycerin with the healing properties of gum acacia, he could sooth and mitigate the mild discomfort of a sore throat. Add in some natural flavoring and a sweetener and voila, Pine Brothers Softish Throat Drops were born. “I have discovered something,” Pine wrote, “which will give quick throat relief to thousands afflicted as I was.” He added,”Perhaps I won’t make much money out of this. But I can make people happy, and that’s more important than money.” Mr. Pine was being unduly modest, as his “discovery” would become one of the most successful, most delicious and most unique throat lozenges in the world. Nor has the recipe changed appreciably since it was first introduced to the public over 140 years ago.
In 1930 Pine Brothers was sold to the Life Savers Company and continued to flourish. Known for its ‘soft drop consistency,’ Pine Brothers lozenges became a favorite of adults and children alike. The product, which attracted healthiest sales in the eastern and northern states, due to its icy winters, reached its peak popularity in the 1970’s. The company was sold by Life Savers, and then, having been re-sold and acquired a number of times, found itself essentially rudderless and under appreciated; this despite a legion of loyal consumers. Cost cutting changes were made to the original recipes, packaging became stale and marketing non-existent; Pine Brothers began to be made overseas. Sales declined.”
Most recently, Pine Brothers was acquired by former owner of Airborne with her new company, 3 Sisters Home Products. A lot of time and effort was made to locate the original recipe and redesigning the look.
These throat drops come in convenient “pucks” or bags and come in cherry, natural honey, licorice, and lemon citrus flavors.  I had the opportunity to try the cherry and natural honey flavors.
These drops are very unique in that they are not a hard lozenge.  they have a consistency similar to a firmer gummy but you are supposed to suck on them, not chew them.  They are very hard to chew and I would not recommend it.  I guess that’s why they’re called “softish” in the title.  In my opinion the cherry was the best but the honey is definitely a natural honey flavor.  I could feel how the natural honey could be quite soothing for a sore throat.

Pine Brothers Softish Throat Drops can be found at CVS Pharmacies.

New product: Dasani Drops review

Coca Cola just introduced the newest product in it’s line up this month, Dasani Drops.  Dasani Drops come in a convenient portable container with a flip top/snap in place top.  Easy to put in your purse or jacket pocket to use at work or anywhere else you go.

Dasani Drops are a liquid flavor enhancer you can add to your water.  Each Dasani Drops bottle make 32 – 8 fl oz servings and is zero calories.  There are 4 Dasani Drop flavors: Strawberry Kiwi, Mixed Berry, Pink Lemonade, and Pineapple Coconut.

I received a tester kit (pictured above) with all 4 flavors of Dasani Drops, a small bottle of Dasani water, and a cool pen.  One little squeeze is all you really need for a 4 oz drink.  The bottle has a nice flow control feature so you’re not dumping to much in your drink.  I tried the pink lemonade first.  You can see how it gave the water just a slight pinkish tint.

Of all the flavors I tried, I think the strawberry kiwi was my favorite but they were all good.
You can find Dasani Drops on twitter @Dasanidrops
and you can read more at Dasani.com

What flavor Dasani Drops do you think you’d try first?

***I received the above mentioned sampling kit from coca-cola at no cost in order to complete a review of Dasani Drops.  I did not receive any monetary compensation for this post.***

Made From Earth Grapefruit Glycolic Scrub review

Made From Earth promise is that you’ll never find chemical ingredients in their products.  That means no Phthalates, no Parabens, no cosmetic fragrances, or any of that other stuff.  The Made From Earth Grapefruit Glycolic Scrub is no exception.

The Grapefruit Glycolic Scrub removes impurities from the skin with a high Vitamin C concentration.  It naturally contain antioxidants that that fight free radical damage, free radical damage ages skin prematurely.  The glycolic acid helps the skin to regenerate.  This scrub is recommended for use 2-3 X per week.
The cleanser is an almost gel-like consistency.  It contains jojoba beads that help scrub away some of the dead skin and smooth.  It has a slight grapefruit scent but not as strong as I imagined it might.  It foamed up nice on my skin.   I only needed about a quarter size amount to scrub both my face and neck. The jojoba beads were actually fairly big for scrubbing beads but to me, they felt like they did the job better.
The Made From Earth Grapefruit Glycolic Scrub is actually on sale right now, half off on MadeFromEarth.com

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

Shielo conditioner review

Shielo Hydrate Moiturizing conditioner offers organic goodness for your hair.

The Key ingredients in Shielo’s Hydrating conditioner are
Rich mineral compounds to soften hair and give your hair’s natural color more vibrancy
Plant proteins, Sea Silk, and Peptides give strength, resilience and shine to your hair
Certified Organic Extracts of white tea and shea butter condition and and leave hair shiny
and has a Paraben-free preservative system
The conditioner has a thicker consistency that reminded me something of a body lotion.  It had a pleasant scent that reminded me of a mix of coconuts and bananas.  The conditioner spread through my hair with minimal effort.  You’re supposed to leave it in for 1-2 minutes before rinsing out.
It did leave my hair feeling very soft.  I also notice it helped to tame some of the frizz in my hair.  The coconut /banana scent lingered in my  hair for a little while after showering.
At a cost of $22.49 a bottle it a rather expensive conditioner.  While it works well, I don’t know that I’d shell out that kind of money for a bottle of conditioner.
