Green Cleaning Tips For Around the House

Green Cleaning has a several benefits.  Not only does it work but you avoid chemicals that can be potential harmful to your family and sometimes it’s a cheaper cleaning option. Here are some of my favorite ways to clean greener (and more affordably).

Vinegar — vinegar is inexpensive, especially if you buy store brand.  You can clean lots of things with a vinegar and water solution.  Put it in a spray bottle, put it in a bucket like your normal cleaner.  I use about 1/2 cup per gallon of water.  You can mop floors with it, clean windows, or use it as an all purpos cleaner. You only get a mild vinegar smell and the scent wears off pretty quickly.

Reuse Used dryer sheets — is you use dryer sheets, save the used ones.  They come in handy as cleaning clothes/dusting clothes, wiping windows, use them like eraser for dry erase boards, or add a few drops of your favorite essential oil to a used dryer sheet and tuck it in a drawer or in the bathroom for a light air freshener.  They’re also nice to wipe of the access dirt from your ceiling fans.

Baking Soda –  Baking soda can be used to clean everything from grout to your teeth.  I keep a box in my daughter diaper pale drawer to help keep it fresh. Sprinkle some on the carpet, leave it sit for about 10 minutes then vacuum to freshen your carpets.  Take an old toothbrush and make a paste with baking soda and a little water and use the paste and toothbrush to scrub grout or other small crevices.  Sprinkle some in the toilet and scrub as usual to get it clean and freshen it.

Reuse old toothbrushes – I mentioned above you can use them to clean grout but you can also use them around your facets, to clean around the caulking in your shower, scrubbing the rims of your sink and shower drains, etc.  Also create for crafts like splatter art.

Clean Up After Little Ones Safely, With ATTITUDE

**I received the below mentioned products for review purposes. No other compensation was received**

Preparing for baby is a lot of work.  Often times work a mommy is happy to do but work none the less.  If you’re picked up a pregnancy or parenting book or even read information from your Pediatricians or Obstetricians office then you know that you should use just any old cleaners and products around and on your baby.  Fragrances, dyes, and chemicals can irritate baby’s sensitive skin. If you’re pregnant or nursing you don’t want to be using those chemicals yourself.  You might even be sensitive to fragrance.  I know when I was pregnant certain smells made me sick.  If you have toddlers, little ones get into everything.  You want to have safe products around your home.

Cleaning up and caring for little ones doesn’t have to take hours of research for the right products, just do it with ATTITUDE.  ATTITUDE products are free of all chemicals.  Through research, it has been found that 1,4-dioxane and ethelyne oxide, known carcinogens are found in many baby products on the market today.  So why be concerned about carcinogens? Because carcinogens have been linked to cancer. Babies are 10X more vulnerable to carcinogens than adults!

I have tried, the more I learn, to find safer products to use around my kids.  ATTITUDE asked me if I would be willing to review their baby gift basket and I said “absolutely”.

ATTITUDE baby products

The ATTITUDE baby gift basket includes:

–Laundry Detergent, Fabric Softener, Toy Cleaner, Stain Remover, Dishwashing Liquid, Fabric Refresher, Body Lotion – Almond Milk, Baby Wipes, and Natural Air Purifier.

I have a 14 month old who is into everything.  I mean everything.  This is what I caught her doing the other day:

I had a stash of Campbell’s soup labels and box tops I was saving for the kids’ schools. She opened the cupboard, found the bag and dumped the contents all over.  BUT it kept her entertained for a while. Right after I cleaned this up she went over to our silverware drawer and pulled most of the flatware out.  My point of this is, she doesn’t discriminate with what interests her.  I do have safety latches on my cupboards that I keep cleaning products in and have one cupboard in the basement that she can’t get to but you never know.  What if she crawls across a freshly mopped floor then puts her hands in her mouth?  What if the laundry detergent I’ve been using irritates her skin?

With Attitude the worry of chemicals isn’t there.  Granted you still don’t want your child taking a gulp of any fabric softener or cleaner but knowing that the cleaning products I have around the house are just a little safer makes me feel better as a mom.  I will be doing reviews on several of the products in the baby gift basket I received so check back to see my thoughts.  I can telly you I’ve used the laundry products already and I’ll be posting my review early this week.

Attitude has more household products including sunscreens for the summer and diapers for your little one minus the harsh chemicals that other brands have.  You can check out their products at: cleanattitude.com
