AVEENO – Page 2 – Luv Saving Money

October is National Eczema Awareness Month

**I’m an AVEENO Ambassador for 2013.  I receive AVEENO samples and other perks throughout the year.**

October is National Eczema Awaerness Month.  Eczema covers a multitude of skin conditions that can cause very dry itchy skin. Eczema can be anything from itchy dry patches of skin and redness to skin that even weeps, blister, or peel.  Eczema can be annoying or downright painful.  Eczema can affect people young and old.

AVEENO has a line of products just for Eczema sufferers.  I’ve had the opportunity to try their Eczema products and they help my dry itchy winter skin.  More recently, my son started with a dry red rash on his backside.  It looked terrible and he was constantly scratching.  It was localized to that area for the most part.  His pediatrician thought it was a contact dermatitis.  We wash his clothes in baby detergent and don’t use dryer sheets with his clothes.  I started putting the AVEENO Eczema Therapy Moisturizing Cream on his bum after his shower at night and again in the morning.  His rash has decreased noticeably and I’ve also realized he’s not scratching hardly at all anymore.

Summer Skin Tips From AVEENO And Dermatologist Dr. Jeanine Downey

It’s summer time.  I  know it’s one of my favorite times of the year.  I sure love the the warm weather and the sun but the sun doesn’t always love our skin.  I think we’re all pretty well aware of the risks of being out in the sun without sunscreen but here are some other tips from AVEENO and board certified dermatologist Dr. Jeanine Downey.

1.       Ears, posterior neck, hands and the tops of feet are the most overlooked places for sun protection.
2.       Use a hypoallergenic, non-comedegenic sunscreen, like AVEENO® Protect + Hydrate Sunscreen Lotion SPF 30, underneath your eyes consistently and do not rub your eyes. This alone with decrease dark circles.
3.       I am seeing more scalp skin cancers, many of which can be avoided. Protect your scalp from the sun by applying a spray sunscreen to your hair, on your part, like AVEENO® HYDROSPORT® Wet Skin Spray Sunscreen SPF 30.
I also had the opportunity to send my own question.  I have a 3 month old daughter.  Of course it’s the summer time.  Most sunscreens say not for use on babies under 6 months old.  Besides keeping baby in the shade, putting hats on their head, is there any other tips for babies?
Basically the answer was that there is not a lot of study as to the effects of sunscreen on baby’s skin so the best advice is to keep baby out of direct sunlight.

AVEENO Sampling event at Walgreen Time Square for Aveeno Protect + Hydrate: Giveaway

**I am an AVEENO Ambassador and periodically receive AVEENO products for my use. No other compensation has been received**

It’s spring and here in South Central PA, the weather has been warming up.  Nicer weather and more daylight means fun times outside.  Don’t forget your AVEENO sun care products to make sure you and your family are safe from the sun’s harsh rays.  On a related note, May is melanoma awareness month.

If you are anywhere near Walgreens Time Square on Thursday May 23, stop by from 10 am to 4 pm to get a sample of AVEENO Protect + Hydrate SPF 30.  This event will coincide with the new “I Love Summer” advertisement from AVEENO featuring the beautiful Jennifer Aniston.  I’ve always been a fan of her.

I personally have the AVEENO Protect + Hydrate SPF 30.  It was one of several products I received as an AVEENO Ambassador for 2013.  I love this sunscreen for several reasons.  I’ve mentioned before that my skin tends to be on the dry side.  This sunscreen is not only a broad band SPF but it also hydrates your skin. It doesn’t clog pores and it’s sweat and water resistant for up to 80 minutes.

This works great for myself, my hubby, and my 3 boys.  It has a very light fresh scent which I love.  It’s a light formula too.  There’s no oil in it so you won’t feel greasy.  Once you apply it, you don’t even know you have it on.  It holds up for my oldest son who plays baseball, my 9 yr old son who plays soccer, and my 3 yr old that won’t sit still.

AVEENO’s new Protect + Hydrate products also come in SPF 50 and 70.  You can check out all of AVEENO’s products on their website: AVEENO.com

Also stop by and like them on facebook: https://www.facebook.com/aveeno
and follow on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/user/aveeno

If you aren’t near the Walgreens in Time Square, don’t worry.  AVEENO is offering you all an awesome giveaway.

Wounded Warriors Charity Football, Andrew Hawkins, and AVEENO

**I am an AVEENO ambassador.  I am sent some of the newest product to try and keep.  No other compensatin has been received**

It was a beautiful day here in South Central, PA, 73 degrees, sun shining. This day ended up being a bit more exciting than I initially anticipated. Thank goodness I had AVEENO to help.

My dad had signed up to play in a charity football tournament in our town called Wounded Warriors charity Football Tournament.  Teams paid an entry free to play in the tournament.  What you have to know about my dad is that, even though he’s 50 something he works full-time and plays flag football with his friends and some family almost every Sunday.  The event would raise money help wounded veterans coming back from combat tours overseas.

They’re in a huddle in this pic.  My dad’s the one in the white hat.

So back to AVEENO, I put on my AVEENO Clear Complexion BB Cream.  I love this product because it provides light coverage for my skin while protecting my face from the sun with it’s broad spectrum 30 SPF.  It also helps moisturize, which my skin needs. I also applied. This is a new addition to their Clear Complexion line and I’m really enjoying using it.

I also applied AVEENO Protect + Hydrate lotion sunscreen with broad spectrum SPF 30.  Another new product.  It also come in SPF 50 and SPF 70. I used this product on my son too because he was going to the Wounded Warrior tournament with me to help cheer on grandpa.  It’s sweat and water resistant for up to 80 minutes.  It doesn’t clog pores either.  You can guess from the product name that it also moisturizes too. FYI: Did you know May is melanoma awareness month?  It’s true so don’t forget your sunscreen!

Well there wasn’t much cover from the sun except 2 pavilions that I kept the baby under. My son played at the playground they had there almost the whole time so he was in the sun quite a bit.

The BB cream kept my face looking fresh and kept it protected.  This really came in handy when we got to meet and take pictures with Andrew Hawkins wide receiver for the Cincinnati Bengals!

Andrew Hawkins is from Johnstown, PA which is just a stones throw away from us and he was awesome enough to come and show support for this great charity event.  He was so nice and so approachable.  He was walking around talking with people and taking pictures with a lot of people.  My son is quite shy and he called him by  his name and said “Come on we’ll take a picture”.  It was so nice to see someone in his position give back to his community and be so kind to his fans and neighbors.  I really thought it would be one of those things where he was there for maybe half hour then take off  but he stayed and talked to people for a long time.

It was great to be able to go and show support for the cause, my dad and his team, and to see an NFL football player giving back to his community.  It was a great day.  If you’d like to show your support for the Wounded Warriors charity you can donate on their website: http://www.warriorcharityfootball.org/ or purchase a Wounded Warriors football tournament T-shirt (all under the “Donate” tab at the top of their page).  I got the shirt, put money into a raffle, and donate for the Rally for Ryan fund while I was there which I talked about in a previous post.
