My daughter is 7 months old and starting to crawl. A very curious baby she is, as most are.  We had a night light in one of the 2 outlets in her room. I put her on the floor the one day and she quickly crawled over to the night light and started playing with it.  I unplugged it immediately but it made me realize I put off some of the baby proofing for too long.

coverPlug is an easy way to make your outlets nearly invisible to babies.

The plastic pegs that you see on the back insert into the ground openings of the outlet. Simply line up the pegs with the ground opening and press it into place. No tools needed.

The majority of the outlets in our house that the baby can get to are on the white trim of the house so they blended in fine.  They are made to blend in with the wall “out of site out of mind” But say you’re outlets are on a..um I don’t know, purple wall maybe.  coverPlugs are paintable. You can paint them to blend in with the wall.

My children were always facinated by the outlets at some point.  I bought those little clear plastic plugs to put in them with my older boys.  It worked ok for a while but they were still curious about the outlets and even eventually figured out how to pull those clear plugs out.  With the coverPlug, the outlet is completely covered and blends in.  Not as interesting to the little ones.

As for my daughter, the top picture is the outlet in her room. You can see it’s right the perfect line of site for a crawling 7 month old.  She hasn’t bothered to go near the outlet since I put the cover on it.   You can check out their “Where to Buy” section for online retailers that carry coverPlug.  You can also find them on Amazon:

  1. I have two co-workers who are first time grandmas so they could probably use these when their granddaughters visit because I’m sure this isn’t something they’ve thought about needing.

  2. I have a 5 1/2 month old who has been trying very hard to crawl, so these will come in handy VERY soon!

  3. I need the coverplugs because I have a 9 month old son crawling around! Thank you for the chance.

  4. Our neighborhood isn’t the best and it would be nice to have a little peace of mind when it comes to our valuable jewelery.

  5. I remember as a kid always having the plugs covered, but I have never even considered doing it. I guess it just never crossed my mind until now.

  6. My best friend is always looking for new ways to childproof. She liked this because it’s all one piece.

  7. I have a very curious 8 month old son who’s getting very mobile – he’s already showing too much interest in standard outlet covers!

  8. I have three babies in the family that are crawling around and being very curious about everything. Yup – three! I have a great niece that will be one in a couple months, followed by a nephew who turns one in 4 months, and then my last niece who turns one in 5 months. I don’t have babies myself so definitely need some baby proofing for when they come over and spend time here.
