Baby Bond Nursing Sash and Belly Band Review

I nursed all 3 of my boys for as long as I could.  I knew it was the best, healthiest choice.  If I could do it, why, I was going to do it.  One issue I found difficult though was finding a discreet way to do it.  Most of the male members in my family…my dad, uncle, etc were somewhat uncomfortable with me nursing in front of them.
I tried using blankets over my shoulder and covering the baby but I always worried if it was uncomfortable for the baby.  The blankets would usually slide off too.

Then I bought one of those nursing covers that have the strap that goes around your neck.  While this worked better in that it stayed put and covered more I still worried about it covering the baby’s head.  I discovered Baby Bond Nursing Sash and Belly Band.  This eliminates that worry of covering the baby’s head.  It can be worn as a sash and you simply pull apart the bands to give baby access to the nipple or you can use it has a belly band to nurse with your non-nursing wear type tops (IE a regular shirt or high collar shirt).

I put it on myself so you could see the different ways to wear it.  Here it is as a sash.  I pulled it apart a little at the top so you could see how the baby would nurse.  I have my shirt underneath so no nipple shots lol.

Then I used it as the belly band.  You would use the belly band choice if you had a top on like mine in the pic above.  If you need to lift your shirt but wanted to keep your belly and back covered to anyone else that may be near by.

It’s a very light weight fabric.  There are a few different colors to choose from as well.

I’m using Shutterfly for my holiday cards. Check out what they have to offer!

I love Shutterfly.com. I use them to order prints from my digital pictures. When my husband and I got married we did a very small wedding with only immediate family. Everyone took pictures. I was able to collect the pictures and make our own personal wedding album. I think it turned out great!

One thing I have not done however, is try their Christmas cards.  I don’t really know why to tell you the truth.  I haven’t sent out holiday cards for a couple years.  I hand delivered some.  I was thinking I really need to get back into it.  I’ve received the cute holiday cards from friends and family with updated pictures of them.  I often thought about getting them but just never have.  Well, not this year.  Darn it, I’m gonna do it!

I started looking over Shutterfly’s card selection and wow, do they have a selection!  I’m having a lot of difficulty deciding.  Shutterfly has a lot of photo Christmas cards.  They even have Christmas gift tags to dress up that holiday package.

Hmm, I’m thinking about some of these designs:

Shutterfly Retro Plaid

I like this design because I have 3 boys.  I could put a pic of each one in the photo spots.  I also think it’s a cute design for the holidays.

BUT, I also like this one:

Shutterfly Plaid Bliss

I’d put a pic of the whole family in.  I love the design, classy and simple.

If you’re looking for something cute with the kiddos and want something starting at only 40 cents a piece you can go with the flat photo cards like this one:

Shutterfly Let it Snow

There are so many more choices.  I don’t know how I’ll ever decide.  I’d love to hear your opinions.  Which ones do you like?  Which ones do you think would work well with a family of 5 or for the 3 boys?

Oh, also if you’re planning on having a Christmas party, Shuttefly has cute Christmas Party Invitations as well.  Picture one of these invitations with a picture of your own house with the Christmas decorations up.  Or a cute pic of the kids playing in the snow.  Or whatever you want!

***I will be receiving 50 free Christmas cards from Shutterfly.com for this post.  I’m super excited about that.  Any opinions expressed in this post are my own.  If you’d like to participate too you can use the link in the phrase bellow***

Some great uses for Vaseline

Vaseline is one of those products that can have about a hundred different uses. So it makes it a great product for us frugal people. I’ve learned some great beauty tips (and money saving tips) with Vaseline and thought I’d share them as part of the twittermoms.com/Vaseline program.

A lot of people already know some uses such as putting some on a baby’s bottom at diaper change to prevent diaper rash. Here are some that I’ve actually used/use my self.

1. Apply a generous amount to your lips like lip gloss. Leave it on for about 10 minutes. Then take a warm wash cloth and gently slough off the vaseline. This helps to take off the dead dry skin on your lips and makes your lips super soft and kissable. This is great to do before applying your lips stick. I do this about once a week.

2. Winter is coming up and some of us unlucky ones will be getting that dry cracked winter skin. For dry hands, apply vaseline all over your hands. Put on a pair of soft gloves over top. Leave on for about 1 hour (or overnight works great too). Then wash hands off and feel the difference.

3. To extend the life of your favorite lipstick, use a lip gloss brush or cotton swab. Take a little bit of your lipstick and mix with a little bit of Vaseline to make your favorite tube last long.

4. Have a shade of lipstick that maybe just too dark for you? Mix a dap of the lipstick with a little more vaseline using a cotton swab of lip gloss brush to lighten the shade or make a evening lipstick an anytime lipstick.

5. For dry cracked heels, apply Vaseline to your heels and put a pair of socks on over top. Wear it over night. You can slough it off with a warm wash cloth in the morning to help soften those dry heels.

6. Mix a little bit of glitter with Vaseline and apply to skin like your cheeks for a fun night out look or Halloween sparkle.

7. Do you have a splinter? Sometimes those little buggers are hard to get out. Apply a dab of Vaseline over the area with the splinter. Place a band-aid over top. Leave on overnight or at least a couple hours. The splinter will be much easier to get out because the skin with be softer and if it’s untreated wood (say from a log or old bench) the piece of wood will also plump a little bit making it easier to get a hold of. (Also works with Neosporin)

8. As an Occupational Therapy Assist, we’re sometimes asked to take part in local career fairs. We like to have hands on things for people to try. We try to demonstrate things we work on. We’ll take a pair of glasses and apply Vaseline to one lense and leave the other alone. We’ll ask people to try them on and see how people with Glaucoma may see things and have them try to write or read. This is often and eye opening experience for some people.

9. Crush a chunk of eyeshadow or blush and mix it with Vaseline to create a different or cool color lipgloss.

10. Apply Vaseline to your cuticles to soften dry cracked cuticles or before trimming or pushing cuticles back.

I’d love to hear your ideas for Vaseline too. I love a product that has so many uses.
