Storyland Yoga Review

When I had a little more time on my hands, I used to love to do Yoga at home. So many benefits like relaxation, increasing flexibility, and muscle one, just to name a few.

I had found some kid’s yoga programs on our free pay per view.  They really enjoyed doing them.  We would do them together as a family.  The only problem was that with the free pay per view, the titles are only on there for so long.

I had the opportunity to review Storyland Yoga from PlayfulPlanetnet.com.  There was two different Yoga session on the DVD.  Condor Trek and Save the Whales.  It’s geared for ages 3-8.  Perfect for me since my two oldest are 7 and 8.  We did the Condor Trek session together.  There is a cute story line to the yoga moves.  There are also little cartoon pictures entered in from time to time.

Now I realize I’m not in the shape I used to be.  I found some of the moves to be rather difficult.  The kids and I just did the best we could.  For instance they had what I know as “the downward dog” position but they increased the difficulty by asking the kids to lift one arm and the opposite leg.  That’s a difficult position to hold.  I suppose after doing this dvd several times they would get the hang of it.

My boys were interested enough that they wanted to do the “Save the Whales” session too.  Here is a pic of them trying to do one of the partner moves.

My boys had fun and it was a nice thing to do together as a family.  I think this DVD will be one that they will pull out and want to do.

SniqueAway for the weekend new site with great hotel prices

As a Bzzagent, I sometimes get the 411 on new sites, products, and services. This one came at a very interesting time for me. I’m in the midst of trying to find what hotel hubby and I want to go to for our anniversary, as well as getting ready to plan our summer vacation.

SniqueAway is a new site with hotel and resort deals daily. Not just any hotels and resorts. I’m not just talking about the normal hotel chains that are in most of our area. In this case it’s top notch hotels and resorts that are deeply discounted for a short period of time.

Pictured above is the Nita Lake Lodge in Whistler British Columbia, Canada.  1 Br Lake view rooms are normally $225/night but from SniqueAway if you book in the next 2 days you can get that same room for only $139.  With complimentary Land Rover shuttle service, 5-10 course tasting menus, warm oil massages, and indoor and outdoor personal training, this is not your run-of-the-mill lodge.

One of the other deals today (ends in 6 days) is The Adolphus Hotel in Dallas, TX.  A deluxe room is normally $139 but SniqueAway members get the room for $89.  Want a luxury suite?  Luxury suites are normally $775 but not for SniqueAway members for the next 6 days.  Members can get a luxury suite for $485.

That’s just a couple of current examples.  You can check out the site for yourself by clicking HERE.

Book Review: The Dragon and The Turtle "Go on Safari" Contest linked

After the opportunity to review the first “The Dragon and The Turtle” book, my 2 oldest boys asked if there were anymore Dragon and Turtle books? I told them I wasn’t sure if there would be anymore yet. Then I found out about “The Dragon and The Turtle Go on Safari” by Donita K. Paul and Evangeline Denmark from Blogging for Books review program.

My kids were eager to read the newest book. This is lovely because it’s usually like pulling teeth to get them interested in a book.  I read it to them before bed last night.  All three (my toddler included) huddled around me to see the beautiful illustrations and the fun story.  The Dragon and The Turtle books are centered around being  a good friend.  There are also a couple other morales and lessons tucked away in the book.   They even offer questions and suggestions to interact with your child about the book once they heard the story.

The Dragon and The Turtle Go on Safari is a great story about how far your imagination can take you.  It also has those great little moments in there about being a true friend.

I think The Dragon and The Turtle Go on Safari would also make a great classroom book that could have a couple of project ideas centered around it.  This could also be a fun book to get your child’s imagination going.

Walterbrook Multnomah publishing is also holding a contest around Both “The Dragon and The Turtle” and “The Dragon and The Turtle Go on Safari”  a cute contest for the kiddos to win some cool prizes.

The Grand Prize includes:

–A child size tent

–2 sleeping bags

–Campfire treats

–Essential Safari tools (compass, flashlight, and spy glass)

–Stuffed animals

–Copies of “The Dragon and the Turtle” and “The Dragon and the Turtle Go On Safari”

2 runners up will receive a copy of each book and a stuffed animal.
