It’s summer time. I know it’s one of my favorite times of the year. I sure love the the warm weather and the sun but the sun doesn’t always love our skin. I think we’re all pretty well aware of the risks of being out in the sun without sunscreen but here are some other tips from AVEENO and board certified dermatologist Dr. Jeanine Downey.
1. Ears, posterior neck, hands and the tops of feet are the most overlooked places for sun protection.
2. Use a hypoallergenic, non-comedegenic sunscreen, like AVEENO® Protect + Hydrate Sunscreen Lotion SPF 30, underneath your eyes consistently and do not rub your eyes. This alone with decrease dark circles.
3. I am seeing more scalp skin cancers, many of which can be avoided. Protect your scalp from the sun by applying a spray sunscreen to your hair, on your part, like AVEENO® HYDROSPORT® Wet Skin Spray Sunscreen SPF 30.
I also had the opportunity to send my own question. I have a 3 month old daughter. Of course it’s the summer time. Most sunscreens say not for use on babies under 6 months old. Besides keeping baby in the shade, putting hats on their head, is there any other tips for babies?
Basically the answer was that there is not a lot of study as to the effects of sunscreen on baby’s skin so the best advice is to keep baby out of direct sunlight.

We do have to teach our children at a young age to care for their skin. I wish when I were a teenager that I stayed out of the sun or used more sunscreen.
