I don’t have a Target near me or I’d shop there more. The closest one is a 40 minute drive from my home. So I normally order from Target online. Well, I ordered my son a $28 science kit that he wanted. It’s going to be put away as part of his Christmas gifts. Well today not only does my item arrive but I got 4 of them!
I double checked my Target.com account and my bank account to be sure I didn’t accidently order 4 somehow. I figured I would know before then anyway but double checked anyway. Sure enough I only ordered and paid for 1. So I called Target and told them what had happened. The girl asked me to hold for a minute. She got back on the phone and told me “We appreciate your honesty with the shipment and thank you for bringing this to our attention. We don’t want to inconvenience you further so you can go ahead and keep the additional items.” Knowing I had more than I paid for I told her I was certainly willing to send them back. She said “We don’t want to inconvenience you further if you don’t want the additional items you are welcome to donate them to a charity of your choice”. I told her that I intended to donate the rest to Toys for Tots or my town’s local toy drive for the holidays then. She again thanked me for my honesty, for bringing it to their attention, and for my willingness to donate the extra items to charity.
Wow so much different than my recent experience with Walmart, which by the way Walmart has still done nothing to refund my money from the unauthorized Xbox Live accounts.
That’s GREAT! I, too, would have contacted them. Hooray for Toys for Tots (and for your son)!
That’s wonderful! I love Target so much more compared to Walmart.
Awesome. They have a great customer service department. Walmart could learn a lot for them. While I haven’t experienced what you have at Walmart, I do find their customer service employees to be very rude and not helpful at all, at least at my local Walmart.
