If there’s one thing this busy mom of 4 likes is ways to make things quicker and easier.  Take baking for instance, I don’t mind baking, I actually kinda like it.  It’s the clean up that I dislike.  scrubbing baking sheets to get the excess dough off, trying to pry cookies off the baking sheet, using cooking spray only to have things stick anyway, …you get the idea.

One item in particular is the Simply Essentials silicone baking mat.  I have never used a baking mat before in my life.  I had used silicone cookware before and I could take it or leave it.  The idea of he Simply Essentials silicone baking mat is that you put it in your cookie tray the you don’t have to use sprays or oils to keep your cookies from sticking.  It also makes cleaning up your baking sheets a breeze.

I had found a very cool chocolate chip cookie recipe on Holy Jeans  & My Favorite Things Blog so I just had to try it.  I figure this would be a great test of the silicone baking mat and commercial baking sheet I received to review.

This mat sat perfectly in the baking sheet they sent me.  The exact measurements of this particular pad are: 16 5/8 x 11 3/4 inches x .73 mm thick.   We placed our cookie dough on the sheet with the silicone baking mat and stuck it in the oven.  When I pulled it out of the oven I was pleased to see that I could scoop the cookies right up with my spatula.  They didn’t stick at all.  There wasn’t even any left over or over baked cookie dough on the mat.  I did a little video when I first pulled them out of the oven so you could see just how well this worked.
