Matisyahu first emerged on the international scene in 2005. He offers stripped down reggae with a mix of pop with a little bit of electronic. As he states “my musical tastes are all over the board”. Hey I can relate to that. If anyone would pull up my Spotify list you’d see everything from instrumental and old country to hip hop and techno.
Matisyahu spent a year recording with Koool Kojak (who has also worked with Nicki Minaj, Travis Barker, and Ke$ha). They started off in Koool’s home studio then went to Israel where they booked a studio and worked with artist’s there for a clean slate.
The new album Spark Seeker does have many different sounds. In listening to the album you have some upbeat songs like “Sunshine”, some dance hall songs like “Searchin” and “Live Like a Warrior” which is a more serious and inspiring song.
I enjoyed listening to this album. It’s a refreshing new sound to add to my music library. You can tell that a lot of work went into this album. You hear the mixture of sound and types of music in each song. I could go on and on about the uniqueness of this album but I think it would be better if you just listened to it for yourself:
Well what do you think? Was I right? You can get Matisyahu’s new album “Spark Seeker” on iTunes starting July 17 as well as other vendors.
Matisyahu is also touring in the US
