Had Fun Shopping at Bottom Dollar Food – Luv Saving Money

Had Fun Shopping at Bottom Dollar Food

Prior to about 3 weeks ago, I had never even heard of Bottom Dollar Food.  I asked around and it seemed like quite a few people I knew, knew someone who loved to shop at Bottom Dollar Food.  So when I was given the opportunity, I just couldn’t pass it up.

It’s no secret that I frequent the Pittsburgh area.  There are plenty locations to choose from around Pittsburgh.  I ended up checking out the Bottom Dollar Food store in Bridgeville, PA just south of Pittsburgh.

The storefront was very bright and welcoming.  It looked neat and clean even from the outside.  The location was very easy to find, even for someone who does not live in the area (like me).  They had bright orange shopping carts stocked and ready right at the entrance.    Upon entering the store I noticed how clean and open the store seemed.

To the left was the walk-in cooler I had read about on the Bottom Dollar Food website. I don’t think I’d ever been in a grocery store that had a walk in cooler.  My boys just thought that was the coolest thing ever.

Apparently my 8 yr old was so impressed with this that he filmed a short video while in the cooler. I had no idea he did this.  I thought he did such a good job though that I decided to use the clip.  He also unknowingly made this video the official start to the LuvSavingMoney Youtube channel.  So thanks Buddy!

I’d love it if you could stop by the Youtube page and like the video and let me son know what a good job he did with this clip.  He’s usually very shy so I’m actually impressed he put himself in the video.

There were sales paper right at the door.  It was so easy to find the specials and sales.  Everything was labeled and visible.  The prices were amazing.  I had to snap a picture of a few of the deals I found that I definitely took advantage of:

San Giorgio Spaghetti for 78 cents a box!  Are you kidding me?  I’m on it.

They also had a number of exclusive store brand items.   One item I found to be a great buy was the “My Essentials” store brand shredded cheese 8 oz packets.  Only $1.88 each!

My boys love Pop Tarts.  Bottom Dollar Food had Pop Tart brand on sale for $1.88 a box.

All the sale items were well stocked too.  The check out lanes were open, not too narrow and easy to navigate to.  The staff was friendly and helpful.  They also take coupons which is important to me.  I was able to find their coupon policy on their website: http://bottomdollarfood.com/pdfs/BottomDollarFoodCouponPolicy.pdf
You can also upload coupons to your Bottom Dollar Food savings card once you’ve registered it on their website : http://bottomdollarfood.com/coupons.asp

I highly recommend signing up for a Bottom Dollar Food membership card.  It’s free.  You can do it online and print a temporary card until you get your permanent card and key tags in the mail.  It took mine a little over a week to receive.

I also recommend taking your reusable shopping bags with you.  If you want plastic grocery bags they’re 99 cents.  You’ll save yourself some money (not to mention help the environment) by taking your reusable shopping bags  Otherwise, you can just use some boxes to put things in your car so they don’t spill around.

I’d love to see a Bottom Dollar Food come to my neighborhood!  Are you wondering if there is a Bottom Dollar Food store near you?  You can check out the store locator on their site: http://bottomdollarfood.com/locator.asp

Bottom Dollar Food stores are in Pennsylvania, Ohio, New Jersey, Maryland, Virginia, and North Carolina.   You can find Bottom Dollar Food online too.  Check out their website: http://www.bottomdollarfood.com/

I’m going to close with one last picture.  Bottom Dollar Food also sent me a huge ceramic piggy bank with their logo etched into it.  My toddler was just fascinated with it.  He kept asking for money to put in it.

Thanks Bottom Dollar Food for introducing me to your great store!  I would certainly recommend your store to anyone!

  1. Yes, piggy banks do fly. And two more Pittsburgh area locations will have their grand openings on August 16, 2012. One on McKnight Road, and the other at 1100 Chartiers Ave, McKees Rocks, PA.
Just keep an eye in the sky and spot the flying piggybank for extraordinary savings. Let the flying piggybank guide you and your debit card to savings beyond belief. Just how do they do it?
