Gearing Up for Spring Sport with ArmourBite® Mouthpiece

Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial.

Even though it’s only the beginning of January, I already had a small stack of spring sport sign ups placed upon my desk by my boys: youth baseball, youth basketball spring league, and AYSO soccer.  My 10 year old wants to do the basketball and AYSO, my oldest wants to sign up for baseball, my youngest son is now old enough to play AYSO and he wants to.  Filled out forms and sent in money.  Next step will be to pick up the gear they need for practice and games.

Under Armour is a well known brand for performance and sports gear.  My boys think it’s cool to have Under Armour gear.  This year my oldest son gets to test out a new Under Armour product, ArmourBite® Mouthpiece.

If you look at the picture you can see it doesn’t look like your typical mouthpiece.  I actually thought it was a mouth guard of some sort when I initially read about it but my assumption was wrong.  It’s actually a mouth piece to help with your performance.

ArmourBite® Mouthpiece is meant to be worn on the lower teeth.  The idea is that when we work out or play sports we tend to clench our teeth.  When we clench our teeth we aren’t getting as much air flow and cortisol is released which causes stress.  Here is a video from Under Armour that explains it a little more:

If you or your children have ever worn a regular mouth guard, the fitting process is pretty much the same.  It uses the boil and bite fit. You just boil your mouth piece in water for 45 seconds, remove from the water and allow it to cool for 15 seconds.  You then place it in the mouth of the person the mouthpiece is intended for.  In my case, it’s for my oldest son for baseball.  He bites down and forms it  then place in cold water for 10 minutes.  the Armourbite comes with instructions that are easy to follow.

My son is currently in wrestling for winter sports but this mouth piece is not intended for contact sports.  This would be more for baseball, soccer, tennis, workouts, lifting, things of that nature.  Under Armour does make a protective mouthpiece however for contact sports with the same technology idea.  My son is looking forward to trying this mouth piece out for baseball.  He wore it around the house for a bit and told me it felt comfortable.

Under Armour mouth pieces are available on bitetech.com there are several types including one for people with braces.  The Armourbite I reviewed her is latex free.

  1. I have just started running again. I’m trying to get back in to race shape and accomplish some life long goals as a runner. Starting with a 5K and ending with a Marathon or maybe some ultras. I would love to see if this helps boost my performance!

  2. My oldest son plays soccer and this would be awesome, mostly cause it helps with the air flow while you are playing. very cool idea for the athletes in our families. Im excited to try this out. Thanks for the great post and review. Very useful

  3. My son for baseball. Lol, I see the example above and I have to laugh because that is exactly what I would use it for : ) My son will be playing his 4th year of baseball this spring, Thanks for the opportunity!!

  4. My son plays center on the varsity football team so good protection is important.

  5. I would actually want it for me! I have a very physically-demanding job, and I often leave work with a headache from clenching my teeth… and in a less than pleasant mood. I’d love to see if this helps! Thanks for the chance!
