When I was growing up our tree never had a “theme” per say. I know people that have beautiful uniform color trees up for the holiday. Or maybe they’re tree followed a snowflake theme or something along those lines. Our tree had engraved ornaments we got from school, handmade ornaments, and free ornaments we gathered along the way. For a while our parents would buy each of us kids a ornament that represented them at the time. For instance, once Christmas I really wanted a 10 speed bike. It was top of my list and I didn’t care if I got anything else. My parents chose a 10 speed bike ornament for me. I still have it and put it on my tree now.
Even though our tree doesn’t look very uniform or designed, it has a lot of meaning. It’s so much fun to look at the ornaments that have pictures of my kids as babies, little handmade ornaments my boys made in school, or ornaments signifying the birth of my children, mine and hubby’s first Christmas and so on.
