Jack glanced at the phone and saw Elizabeth’s number. “Hi. What a
coincidence. I just getting ready to tell you I’ll be coming to visit in the next day or
so.”
“Oh, Jack…”
Jack heard Elizabeth sob. “Elizabeth, what’s the matter? Is something
wrong?”
“Yes. It’s awful,” she said, trying to talk around her sobbing.
“Sweetheart, take your time. Tell me what happened.” Jack waited patiently

“Edward got a call during the wedding today. Courtney is dead.”
“Oh, that’s awful. Do you know what happened?”
“No. Cade went with him to London to find out. We haven’t heard anything

“Yes. From everything you’ve told me him and his wife were inseparable. I’m
so sorry. What can I do to help?”
“Nothing right now. We don’t have any details and I’m not sure what
arrangements will be made.”
“Even if there’s nothing I can do to help, I want you to know that I’m there for
you. I’ll be there as soon as I can.”
“You will?”
“Of course. I hate to see you hurting. If I can provide even a little comfort, I’m
happy to do it.”
“Thanks, Jack. I appreciate that. How long can you stay?”
“As long as you need me to.”
“Things may be in chaos here at the castle. It might be better if you take a
room at the Royal Arms in the village. Ask for Caitlin and tell her I sent you.”
