Growing up in Southern California, surrounded by beautiful people, I struggled to find my identity. Every one else seemed to know who I was supposed to be, and how I was supposed to act, but their Idea of who I was didn’t quite fit with how I felt inside. I knew I was just different somehow. Expressing my true self came with criticism which caused me to question myself, and so began my search to find myself and the life I wanted to lead. Years of taking risks, enduring judgments, and self-doubt taught me that to be truly happy meant rejecting mainstream society’s idea of who I was supposed to be and what I was supposed to believe. Somehow through all this, I have found the courage to show who I really am to the world. I hope to help lead others down the path to their own self-acceptance. My mission now is to help people live their best lives without the need to please other people who may be miserable in their own. Whether it be discarding dilapidated belief systems, unrealistic ideals, or simply the fear of judgment, finding the courage to be yourself can be daunting. By sharing my stories, I hope to show that you are ultimately in control of your own life, and that you alone have the power to control your own happiness. I hope to provide that little nudge you may need to tell the world to kiss your butt, because you are awesome just the way you are. Website * Facebook * Twitter * Bookbub * Amazon * Goodreads

Take It From a Stripper
How Being a Stripper Taught Me to Take Risks, Stop Pretending, and Challenge Norms
You might be asking yourself, “What could a stripper possibly say that would relate to me?” In fact, I’d be
terribly disappointed in you if you weren’t asking that question. It’s a perfectly valid one. After all, what
does my twenty years of public nudity have to do with you? Well, now that you ask, quite a bit.
While common stereotypes often portray strippers as amoral, drug dependent, uneducated, and broken
human beings, this is not always the case. A common misconception is that most strippers are driven to
the profession out of desperation, a last resort, or simply lacking the cognitive ability to make it in the real
world. I would say that description is much more fitting of today’s reality TV stars than your average
stripper. Actually, most strippers are smart, independent and happy to be on the fringe of society.
My time in the adult industry has given me a unique perspective on not only sex, but also on taking risks,
questioning norms, thinking for myself, and so much more. I knew I would likely learn much about sex,
but my job actually taught me so much more about life itself. How to ask unwelcome questions, how to
accept other people, and how to let go of limiting thoughts and beliefs. I’ve essentially performed an
informal sociological study on humans. Granted my knowledge is limited to the context of the strip club,
but I’ve come up with some interesting findings, including, of course, how it relates to human sexual
behavior. For example, sex shaming, especially from religions, seems to be the driving force behind the
whole sex industry itself. I firmly believe that if sex and nudity were not deemed to be wrong or dirty, strip
clubs, porn, and the like wouldn’t exist at all. While I’d like to think I might qualify as a subject matter
expert, I have no formal education in the field. My expertise comes strictly from twenty sober years
working with strippers, strip club staff and customers. My advice and opinions all stem from that
experience.
While I have made it out of the industry with my cognitive faculties mostly intact, I must admit I have a
slightly twisted view on a few things. As most of us are taught to conceal our inner selves for fear of
judgement, I see it mostly in the open. Thirty seconds in someone’s lap for instance, can give me a
wealth of information about that person. I can tell pretty quickly someone’s feelings toward women and
whether he calls his mother regularly or not. Things like fetishes, or the way someone talks or touches,
are each a little clue into someone’s mind. On the surface it seems like all I do is provide live
masturbatory material, while in reality I’m collecting information. I have insights that can only come from
my work, and that includes other dancers as well as staff. The way people interact in the strip club can
be very different from the way they act in what I will refer to as the real world.
When you expose yourself both literally and figuratively, you are casting a light on reality. The lessons I
learned in the strip club apply not only to other people but also to myself. I was forced to face certain
things about myself that I may have missed had I taken a more mainstream path in life. Seeing yourself
for who you really are on the inside is in my opinion the only way to true happiness. To be able to reach
your goals, you must first be honest with yourself, and that includes everything that makes you
uncomfortable. Whether suppressed feelings, desires, or insecurities, refusing to face uncomfortable
truths about yourself and the reality you live in, is a terrific way to end up a bitter, unfulfilled and
miserable person. Frankly, that sucks for not only you, but everyone else you come in contact with.
As a stripper, exposing my outside to public scrutiny also eventually led to exposing the uncomfortable
feelings and doubts about the world around me and what I was taught to believe. Getting naked on stage
forced me to come to terms with the inadequacies I felt I had physically. As I grew more comfortable
confronting my fears about aesthetic judgements, I was able to turn that into acknowledging the
uncomfortable feelings I was holding inside. Dancing showed me how to present a fantasy, which in turn
gave me the tools to recognize when I myself was presented with a fantasy, as well as the fantasies I
was presenting to myself.
I was taught that living a happy life meant living a normal one. Stay in your lane and go with the flow. Be
what society considers acceptable and respectable. When I was finally able to let go of the image of what
people thought I should be and started to investigate the world around me, what I found was far more
profound and beautiful than anything I had ever thought it could be.
I hope to help you live your best life, learn to take risks, question everything, and find yourself. Also, I
hope to show you that a life without risks is ultimately boring and unfulfilling. The good news is you don’t
have to get naked in public to do it, as I’ve very generously already done that for you.

Death, Part 1
Terrence McDonald is 55. The year is 2045.
The TV is on, and I’m on the couch, leaning as far back as I can. My heavy,

indecisive brown eyes—their lenses blurred ever since my tumultuous, too-soon

entrance into the world—flutter between open and shut. I am half-watching half-
listening to a football game on a Sunday afternoon. Was that the doorbell?

“Who is it?” I call out, expecting to hear my daughter, Megan’s, voice. These days, she is the one person
who visits me. The only person who knows I’m making my home in this little oasis fashioned from wood
felled by my own hand.
“Terry, it’s Mom. I’m here to help you move.”
My mom? That’s not possible. She’s…
Wait. To help me move? Oh, God.
I rise from the couch and glance back at my lifeless body. Five-foot-eight standing up, but now it’s

slumped over, grayish-blue. A few stray locks of the hair I inherited from my father, still mostly pepper-
black, spill over into my unseeing eyes.

Shit. I still had more I wanted to do, damn it! Was it my cerebral palsy? We’ve
co-existed forever. Has it somehow—in its slow, indirect way—finally done me
in?
I turn back around toward the TV, and I see my mom materialize in front of me, a
concerned look on her face.
“Are you okay?”
“No, of course I’m not okay!” I scream. “So… is that it then? I’m dead, just like
that?”
She doesn’t say anything, but her silence says everything.
“How? How did I die?”
Mom puts her hand on my shoulder like she always did when I was a kid and I
was upset and needed some time to calm down. “You don’t remember?”
“No, Mom, I don’t remember. If I remembered, why would I ask?”
She is silent for another beat. “If you don’t remember… then it’s probably best if
I stay quiet for now. My job is to take you Home.”
“I am home,” I shoot back.
“You don’t understand. Where I’m taking you… this is a different kind of
Home. This is the place where you’ll find out what happens next.”
“Is there any way around this? Any way at all?”
These words are as close as I’ve ever come to arguing with my mom. That’s
because arguing with her does not come naturally to me. And, considering the life
I have, I never thought I’d hear myself plead for it.
“No, Terry. I’m sorry, but there’s not. You know that, if there were a way, I’d tell
you what it was. But this has been decided.”
I pull away from her. Am I frightened? No, not exactly. But I am… disheartened.
Before I can go too far, she takes my hand. “Come with me, Terry. I love you.”
It’s been so long since Mom said those words to me—I love you—that I’d
forgotten how true and convincing they sounded in her voice, and how
much I missed them… and her.
Without warning—and without the white-light-emitting tunnel I experienced as a
kid— we’re not in the cabin anymore, and I find myself in a house so familiar I
am comfortable in seconds. The smells are familiar. The floorplan. The art on the
walls. This is a replica of the home I shared with my wife, before she got sick and
I moved into the cabin.
“See, it’s not so bad,” Mom says. “I picked it out and furnished it myself. Just for
you.”
It is a nice place. Much nicer than I’m used to these days, that’s for sure. Not that
I have anything but a vague idea where we are.
Now that I’ve calmed down some, it isn’t just this new house I’m appraising. I’m
also getting my first real good look at Mom in twenty years. Hers is a face
looking as youthful today as it appeared in the photograph announcing her
entrance into womanhood—taken in her eighteenth year. I remember seeing this
picture in a family album decades ago.
“You’ve got all the comforts you’re used to,” Mom explains. “Along with a

couple you might have forgotten about.”
“So this is where I’ll be living now?”
The frown on her face hints at the fact that things aren’t that simple. “Well, that
depends on your appointment, but I sure hope you will. Your father and I are just
down the street.”
“Dad’s here?”
“Yes, he made it.” She smiles. She’d told me as much before. Years ago, on her
final day. She’d said it twice, in fact. I’m not sure I’d believed her either time.
“My appointment?”
“Everyone has an appointment when they first get here.”
“What happens? Who is the appointment with?”
“I can’t tell you, Terr.” Mom takes a seat in the first of three chairs arranged in
front of my large television screen. This is the only liberty she’s taken in the
design. The original home had two chairs in front of this television, because two
was enough for Mattie and me, but I sense Mom gave me the extra seat in case I
should have company over. “Those who have been through their own
appointments, like me, are expressly forbidden from sharing any details with
newcomers, like you. Each appointment is different based on the soul and the life
it concerns.”
“Ah.” Now I’m nervous. And not just because I get the feeling at this moment
that Mom is spouting some section of a well-rehearsed monologue. I wonder if, at
this appointment, everything in a person’s life is considered.
“Yes, everything is considered,” Mom says.
I shoot her a confused glance. Did she just read my mind?
“Oh, I’m sorry. We don’t often use spoken words or languages here. I mean,
we can. And we will, especially in cases when explanations or announcements
need to be delivered to a large number of people. God prefers spoken language
Himself. But it’s more common, for those who have been Home a while, to
communicate telepathically. I thought that was what you were doing.”
I shake my head.
“Well, in a few days, once you’re feeling acclimated, let me know. You can call
me on this.” Mom produces what looks like a cell phone. “That’s a direct line to
me and me alone. When you’re ready, I’ll come and pick you up and take you to
your appointment.”
“Okay.”
But first, she thinks, get some rest. You look terrible.
I am a little tired, but what do you expect? I’m dead.
“You’re getting the hang of our telepathy already.” She laughs, gives me a
hug. “I’ve gotta get back to cook your father’s pot roast, or he might go a little
nuts.”
Sounds like Dad. A hungry Carl McDonald means an irritable, hard-to-deal-with
Carl McDonald (I was going to say hard-to-live with, but the word doesn’t fit).
Mom pats my shoulder and disappears. This new Home is going to mean some
big adjustments for me.

Crossover:

I had just finished shooting the Vogue cover spread and was exhausted. We had finished early,
and the crew wanted to go out for drinks. I politely declined, stating I was going to go back to the hotel
and catch up with Andre, who had flown out last week to meet me.
I said my goodbyes and made my way back to the hotel, attempting to take in the air of Milan as I
did. Every other time I’d been here, it was so hectic that I’d never had any time to enjoy the city. This
time I had invited Andre, and booked a couple of extra days to spend here.
Andre and I had been seeing each other for about two years, and he had proposed to me about six
months ago. It was in New York, at my favorite restaurant around the corner from my apartment. Things
were going good, for once. I had finally booked enough gigs to keep me afloat for a while. My name was
out there in the world of photography, especially for magazine shoots. I’d even received a proposition to
shoot the new promo material for a popular band. I hadn’t looked at the proposition in depth yet, and it
seemed like a good one, but the timing was a bit late. I had already booked gigs through October, and my
manager had said something about the new publicity agency needing the promo photos by the beginning
of November for the full kick off of the band’s tour. Apparently, they were doing a couple of shows

during October as they geared up for a three-month stint around the US. I knew I should look at the
proposition more closely, but I just wanted to get back to the hotel and to Andre.
I reached the hotel room and slid my key into the handle. As I opened the door, I heard the sounds
of a woman and Andre. No! Please, God, no! I dropped my stuff at the door and made my way to the
bedroom. I turned the corner and saw a redhead riding my fiancée.
“What the fuck is going on here?” I was surprised I could get the words out. Andre jumped up,
well, more or less threw the chick off of him, and grabbed the sheet to pull around himself.
“It’s not what you think.”
“I’m pretty sure it is what I think it is. You fucking a chick in the bed of our hotel room.” I stood
there and stared at her while she made a feeble attempt to put her clothes on.
“You have three seconds to get the fuck out of here before I call hotel security and have them
escort your slut ass out.” The girl picked up her pace and hurried to find clothing, and then headed out of
the room. I turned to Andre, who was walking toward me. “Bella, it’s not what you think, really.”
“Don’t call me Bella, and get the fuck out of here as well. Go, now!” I was trying to keep my cool,
keep the tears from falling down my face. I couldn’t believe that everything we had, everything we
dreamt about, he had ruined with a mere fuck. For God’s sake, it wasn’t like we didn’t fuck. The sex was
good. I know my busy schedule and his were at odds with each other, but we seemed to be happy – at least
I was. But now my world had crumbled. When Andre didn’t make a move to leave, I shook my head and
grabbed the suitcase from the closet and packed my stuff. I grabbed everything and shoved it into the
suitcase.
Andre rushed to me as I entered the sitting area, his hand grasping my arm, “Bella, please let’s
talk about this.”
“You don’t get to talk. You don’t get to call me that.” I pulled my arm out of his grasp and picked
up my purse and camera bags, and walked out of the door. Andre followed, still wrapped in the sheet. I
jumped on the elevator and thanked God when the doors shut in his face. I reached the lobby and hailed a
cab. It wasn’t until we were on the way to the airport that I let the tears flow. The poor Italian cab driver
had a look of worry on his face.
“Tutto bene, signorina?” he asked.
“Spero di sì. Spero davvero che sarà. Grazie.” I watched as he nodded in the mirror. The rest of
the drive was in silence. The tears still flowed down my face, only not as hard as before. My heart was
broken in a million pieces, and I hadn’t felt that way in many years. Not since I had left the other one. I
put my head back against the seat and watched the sights of Milan pass by. I’d exchange my ticket when I
got to the airport, pay whatever I needed to. I just needed to get home. Home to North Carolina. Away
from everything.

A medieval world of dragons, wizards and wizards and of course knights. Did I mention talking dragons? And one dragon in particular that bonds with Marcus which is unheard of in this land. A wonderful series of great and unpredictable adventure. Marcus always thought that dragons were at the top of the food chain, but crunchers are moving into the area and they kill dragons. The Tar-Cranian Wizard cannot imagine his land without dragons, but even the sorcerers, including Raina and Ash may have enough experience to stop them. And Marcus must journey to the Upside-Down forest to replenish his magical ingredients, but at more than five hundred leagues away the chances of returning are not good. Meanwhile, a hunter named Shaun has eyes for the woman that lives across from him, but his father is ready to sell her. Goodreads * Amazon
