Create Easy Breezy Up-Do’s and Hairstyles this Summer with LillaRose

**I received the below mentioned product at no cost in order to complete an honest review. No other compensation has been received.  Giveaway is sponsored by Bokerah Brumley LillaRose Consultant**

I have long hair right now, like past my shoulder blades long hair.  I love having long hair but it gets a bit cumbersome and hot in the summer time.  I’m usually putting it up in a pony tail or trying to put it up in a bun just to stay cooler.

LillaRose offers beautiful option to create easy and elegant styles for your hair weather you just want to get your hair out of the way while your gardening or your attending a summer wedding.  Consultant Bokerah Brumley would love to help you find a LillaRose hair accessory for your needs.

From the popular LillaRose flexi-clips, hair sticks, bobby pins, and more to help you create a french twist, half up and more.  LillaRose has a really helpful sizing video for the flexiclips.  Flexi-clips come in sizes mini all the way up to extra large.  It’s important to watch the video before buying a flexi-clip if you’re new to using one.  Depending on the textures and length of your hair, different size will work better for different looks.

My hair is just past my shoulder blades.  My hair is fine but I have a lot of it. I was hoping to be able to do the tails up mostly to keep my hair out of my face and off my shoulders for the summer. I chose the Intricately Designed Dangle flexi in the Medium size.  I thought that this clip could be used for both casual and dressing up.  I was able to quickly and easily twist my hair into a tails up look and clip it in place with the flexi.

I was able to do this in a matter of seconds.  I was curious how long this would last though.  I have a hard time with things staying in place in my hair.  It seems most things want to slide out. I had this in for about 7 hours now cleaning and chasing after my 3 yr old and my hair is still in place.  I love it.

What I like about the LillaRose flexi-clip is that the pin is attached to the piece so you don’t have to worry about losing it.  The clips are actually…well…flexi, so they bend around your twist or whatever you’re doing.  It’s able to be tightened a bit if you need it.

Bokerah has a giveaway going on her facebook page for one LillaRose hair item up to $16 value. Trust me that’s a big selection.  https://www.facebook.com/LillaRoseBokerah Stop by her facebook page, like it and enter to win.  Tell her LuvSavingMoney.info sent you!

That’s not all..

Jack the Giant Slayer on Bluray/DVD

**I did not receive any compensation for this post.  Giveaway sponsored by Warner Bros.**

I don’t know about you but I’m kind of excited to see some of the timeless fairy tales made into movies. I wondered how they would make Jack and the Beanstalk into a interesting movie, then I watched the trailer for Jack the Giant Slayer and thought it looked really good.  It seems to be a nice mix of adventure and humor all while being a family friendly movie.  I know my boys would love to see this movie.  We don’t get to the movies much though so we usually get the movies on-demand or on dvd.  Now Jack the Giant Slayer is available in a combo pack: (DVD+Bluray+Ultraviolet)

Here is a brief Synopsis of the movie:
Unleashed on the Earth for the first time in centuries, the giants strive to reclaim the land they once lost, forcing Jack (Nicholas Hoult), into the battle of this life to stop them. Fighting for a kingdom and its people, and the love of a brave princess, he comes face to face with the unstoppable warriors he thought only existed in legend… and gets the chance to become a legend himself! Directed by Brian Singer (X-Men, Superman Returns)

Starring: Nicholas Hoult (About a Boy), Ewan McGregor (Star Wars, Moulin Rouge!), and Stanley Tucci (The Lovely Bones).

To celebrate the release of the movie combo pack, Partnershub and Warner Bros. has come up with this fun blog app:

Kisspat Hair Chalk adds color and fun to your hair without the commitment

**I received the below mentioned product at no cost in order to complete an honest review.  I did not receive any other compensation for this post**

The spring and summer is a great time to change up your hair.  Lighten it up, change your style, etc.  Adding color to your hair let’s you make subtle or dramatic changes depending on the look you’re going for.  I’ve seen fun color options that I really liked but just can’t do.  I have a professional job in a hospital and it’s against dress code policy to have unusual hair colors and or hair styles.  That doesn’t mean I don’t think pink or bright red highlights don’t look cool.  I just can’t do anything permanent.  Kisspat Hair Chalk pastels is a great way to add color to your hair without that commitment.

For someone who had never used hair chalk before I had a preconceived notion of what they would be like. I thought it would be like…well..chalk and be real powdery, feel weird in my hair and I’d get chalk dust all over my clothes.  In actuality it’s nothing like that, other than being chalk shaped maybe.
I received the Kisspat Hair Chalk pastels in the 12 color variety pack.  The colors were very vibrant in the box.  In taking a piece out it was smooth and had a very slight oil feel to them.  I wasn’t sure how to apply them initially but there are instructions on the bottom of the box as well as their website.   You can either dampen your hair itself or dampen the piece of chalk to apply to your hair.
My boys were excited to try them out. My oldest son asked if I could put a blue stripe down the middle of his head.  After I did that then he also asked me for white stripes.  This is how it turned out:
My oldest son has very dark brunette hair and I was wondering if these would even show up in his hair.  As you can see, it did.
After seeing his older brothers get their hair done my 3 yr old son wanted his done too.  He chose the light green color in the box.  I colored the top of his hair green and spiked it a bit.
He has slightly lighter brunette hair and it worked well on him too.
I did end up breaking the pieces I used in half.  It actually worked out better for me to use a smaller piece to apply to their short hair.  To color my boys’ short hair I dampened the small piece of chalk and kind of rubbed it back and forth on their hair since I was not really able to grab a section of hair to apply and they wanted a larger section colored.  The only complaint I have about this product at all is that my 3 yr old’s hair is thin.  Some of the chalk coloring got onto his scalp.  The chalk washed out of his hair easily but it took about 3 shampoos to get the color off of his scalp.  My older boys did not have this issue but their hair is also thicker.
You can create fun highlights, tips, or even the hot hombre look with this hair chalk.

Rainy Day Activity for the Kids with the Help of Borax

It’s the second day of summer vacation for my boys from school.  I love having them all home together but it’s raining today.  I don’t mind them playing video games and watching tv sometimes but I want to keep their minds working over the summer too.  When my oldest son was in Boy Scouts they learned how to make flubber using Borax.  I received a package of Borax to review thanks to Purex Insiders so I decided to let the kids try to make Borax at home.  It’s fun, inexpensive, and can keep them entertained longer than it takes to make it.  I don’t recommend this recipe for a child that might put it in their mouth though.  I’d say school age is appropriate.

Borax flubber recipe

I found a recipe for flubber online but I didn’t have enough elmer’s type glue sitting around for the full recipe. I decided to cut the recipe in 1/4 but it still made enough to keep each kid entertained. I’m going to share my fractioned recipe just in case you don’t want to make a huge bowl of it either.

Materials you’ll need:

–Liquid measuring cup
–disposable spoon or spoon you don’t plan on reusing for food
–20 Mule Team Borax (found in your laundry aisle at your local store)
–1 bottle of Elmer’s glue (for my fractioned recipe you’ll need a 4 oz bottle can be any brand, we used Roseart brand)
–food coloring (any color you wish)
–baking sheet covered in plastic wrap or a disposable baking sheet
–2 disposable mixing bowls.  We used some old cottage cheese containers that were cleaned out but things like butter containers, sour cream containers, empty peanut butter jars, etc will work just fine too.

In one bowl mix 1/3 c warm water, whole 4 oz bottle of glue, and a couple drops of food coloring.

In the other bowl mix 1/3 c of warm water and 1 Tbsp of Borax.  (I sued my plastic spoon and just heaped it on the spoon)

Then dump the borax/water mixture into the glue mixture.  It will start to thicken almost immediately.  Once it’s mixed up enough dump it onto your plastic wrap covered baking sheet and allow it to dry.  Initially it will be stick like glue as it dries it will become more resistant.  Also working it or playing with it will make it more resistant too.

My 9 yr old wanted to play with it for a while he had lots of fun creating different things with it.

Blog 008

As it dries or you work it you’ll eventually be able to make little balls with it and bounce it too but it’s fun at any stage of it’s drying process.  You can keep it in a sandwich bag or your container you used to mix it in for future use.  If it dries out too much after a while you can add some water to it and work it or just make new.
Of course this isn’t the immediate use someone thinks of for Borax but Borax has LOTS of uses.  Use it as a laundry booster, use it as a multi-purpose cleaner for your bathroom, kitchen, and more.  You can also use it as a deodorizer for your garbage disposal or garbage can which I’ve done before.  Use it for cleaning carpet stains, and lots more.  You can find all the uses and measurements on their site: http://www.20muleteamlaundry.com/

Make a Healthier Choice with Microwave Popcorn with JOLLY TIME with Smart Balance

**I received a sample of the below described product at no cost in order to complete a review.  No other compensation has been received**

My family and I love microwave pop corn.  It’s a quick snack that will feed everyone, it’s not too expensive, and if you make the right choices, can be a healthier snack then say chips or sweets.  Not all microwave pop corns are good for you though.  Some are loaded with salt, butter, and fatty oils. JOLLY TIME is making that choice a little bit easier with their new Smart Balance JOLLY TIME Pop corn.

JOLLY TIME’s newest popcorn is made with Smart Balance’s blend of oils that support heart health with zero grams of trans fat and zero hydrogenated oils.  It also contains their own natural Buttercrisp flavor  and 100% whole grain kernels.  They are also gluten free.  They are also non-GMO.
The new variety comes in Butter and Butter Light flavors.
Honestly every time I try a “better for you” type of product, I have to wonder about what it’s going to taste like.  My kids won’t eat it if it doesn’t taste right.  With these new JOLLY TIME flavors though I really didn’t notice compromise with the flavor.  In fact, I think I liked it better.  I didn’t taste or feel as greasy as regular pop corn sometimes can.  My kids loved it too.  In fact, when I told them they could try it, they tried the Butter Light first.
It popped up pretty nice and smelled wonderful. My kids enjoyed the heart-shaped pop corn bowl they sent along with the samples too. All 3 of my boys ages 10, 9, and 3 all loved the pop corn both the butter and the butter light.  I enjoyed them too.  I feel better about my kids eating this for a snack knowing the oils they use are more heart healthy.
