My house is a cave. Ok so it’s not actually a cave it’s just very dark inside. When we moved in to our house 6.5 years ago we knew a lot of things would need updated, fixed, added, etc. We’ve constantly working on something. One thing gets done and we start something else. We have a list about a mile long prioritized into immediate needs to things we’d like to see done. One thing I’ve complained about since we moved in was the lighting in our house. We had to put a lot of new wiring in and we updated some light fixture but we really need to add more lights The other thing is, the whole downstairs has ugly, old, dark paneling which really doesn’t help with the lighting situation.
When I take pictures, even with my Canon Rebel, I have to put every light on I can. Even that isn’t enough sometimes. My husband has a work light he uses for his ebay pics and I’ll borrow that sometimes. When I had the opportunity to review the Chromo Inc. Cl160 LED video lighting for my camera I just had to try it. Hey it couldn’t hurt right?
The Chromo LED video lighting comes with the LED light itself, a mount for your camera, and 3 different filters.
When I opened the light, the mount was separate from the light itself. It was easily attached. I wasn’t initially sure exactly how it attached to my camera. It had a thin booklet that came with it but it did not explain how to mount it to the camera. I was able to figure it out within a few minutes however. There is a square plastic base that slides into the flash bracket on my camera. Then there is a knob at the top you can turn to tighten the light in place.
The LED made a huge difference with taking pictures in my living room. My living room is one of the worst places for me to take pictures in my house. Even with no lights on I was able to get some decent pictures of the WWE family night we had. I’ve never been able to take a picture in my living room, even with the built in flash in my camera, and really get good colors and details before. It was always so dark before. The Chromo LED light has a dial that lets you choose if you want it off, just a little light, or a lot.
The filters worked well also. There is a clear filter, a pink filter, and a yellow filter. I took a picture of an upcoming product review with each filter and no filter so you can see the different in the look with the filters.
All in all I really liked the Chromo Cl160 LED video light. The only con I have with this light is this:
The LED light takes 6 AA batteries making it a bit weighty and adding that weight to you camera as you’re holding it. AA batteries are a hot commodity in this house so having to use six for this was a bit surprising to me. I think if they could make this light rechargeable it would save money on batteries. I’ve only been using the light for about a week not for pictures so I can’t speak just yet on how long the batteries last.

Awesome! I am brand new to taking photos (without my cell phone) and didn’t even know this existed! 🙂
This looks like a great product. Thanks for sharing information about this camera lighting.
Nice little gadgets. Will have to look into it.
