No Follow Tags and how to add them in Blogger

Please Share

Let me first preface this with me saying “I am certainly NOT a computer expert. I don’t know much about coding and HTML but I’m learning as I go.” There are many terms I’m not familiar with. I had heard about “Do Follow” and “No Follow” tags. I’ll be quite honest with you. I’m still not sure exactly what they mean. All I know is I’ve had my fair share of companies requesting links to be “no follow”. So I figured, I’d better get with the program.

I found this article on Dear Crissy that was somewhat helpful to me: http://dearcrissy.com/mommy-blogger-outreach-poor-advice/
at least it explained what the importance of this “No Follow” thing is. So I started searching, trying to figure out, “How do I add a “No Follow” tag to links I insert in posts?” I found this great and simple tutorial on Youtube.

It doesn’t show it in blogger but I figured it out from the video.  Once you’ve hyperlinked your word or phrase go to the “Edit HTML” mode of the post.  Find the link for your linked term.  For instance, I just did a post recently about “online bingo”.

Here is the code that was link in the paragraph to the words “online bingo”
online bingo     This is the original code
rel=”nofollow”>online bingo   This is the code with the no follow tag.  I’ve highlighted the “no follow tag” in red.

Insert the no follow tag just as the youtube video shows.  After the web address

I hope I explained that ok.  I’m not the best at this stuff but I figured If I’m still learning that maybe there were some newer bloggers out there that could use the help too.
