Do you have Direct TV? – Luv Saving Money

Do you have Direct TV?

Have you ever talked to someone about tv service?  Maybe you were complaining about your bill, maybe you were discussing channels you get and don’t get with a neighbor, or whatever.  It seems like most of those conversations get into a debate about Direct TV, cable, or another dish service.  Everyone thinks their service is the best.  Unless you’ve actually switched to another service at one point, you may not have much to compare.  You just have to go by what people are telling you.

There are 2 major things I always look at.  I look at price and the value for the price. In other words how can I get the most amount of channels, with a reliable service, without breaking the bank.  Of course I’m not about to start skimping on groceries just so my hubby can have the NFL network.  Priorities are priorities.
I had the opportunity do this post for Direct TV.  I took it.  Why?  I thought it would make me learn a little more myself.
When you visit DirectTV’s website, http://www.dx3.net/, the first thing you’ll notice is the deal they have going, they call it “The Big Deal”.  You can lock in two years of savings for $29.99 a month with rebates.  But my question is, “What do I get for that $29.99?”  To start you get 4 premium movie channels include for 3 months.  Then you get a free HD DVR and up to 3 HD receivers. If you want more you have to pay extra.  I don’t know about you but I don’t have more than 4 tvs in my house.  HD Channels are included and DirectTV on demand.  So far, doesn’t sound to bad.
Just a note though, there’s a little green banner in the corner that says NFL Sunday Ticket included but in the itsy bitsy fine print it says for Choice Xtra packages and above.  So don’t get too excited there football fans.
Also I think when considering switching for financial purposes that there may also be handling & deliverying fees, as well as taxes in some areas so keep that in mind.
Direct TV or I guess as the kids are calling it these days, dx3 Direct TV, includes 285 channels, 170 of which are actually HD channels.  That’s plenty for me. Unfortunately I’m having a hard time finding which channels are actually included in the packages.  There are certain channels that are a must in our house so I’d like to know if they’re included.

Do you have Direct TV?  If so, what do you think about it?
