You may or may not have read about the terrible accident that happened at the Pittsburgh Zoo and PPG Aquarium yesterday. I saw the headline in the news yesterday and had to read it. I mean, I take my kids to the Pittsburgh zoo, I needed to know what happened!
I won’t summarize the story here because I wasn’t there and anything I’d put would be just what I read online or in the paper. But here are some links if you feel so inclined to read it. I’ll warn you though, it’s terrible.

The reason for my posting this though is to ask for prayers for this family. As I read the updates I saw how many people were saying things about this mother, saying what they would or would not have done, and saying very negative and even horrible things.
For some reason, after I read this story yesterday it really stuck with me. The bottom line is that a young child is gone. Could it have been prevented? Maybe, but I can almost be sure that anything anyone has to say to or about this mother can’t be as bad as the guilt she is feeling right now. I can only imagine that this incident will replay over and over and over again in her head probably for the rest of her life while she walks through if onlys and what ifs. I don’t know this person but I know what it’s like to be a mother. The reality of losing a child, especially in such a tragic way, would have to be the worst thing that could happen to a mother.
I think it’s important to leave the negative comments unspoken and just send condolences to the family and prayers. And pray that this child did not suffer though the updates from today are not very hopeful. Pray that his child has found a place with no pain. Negative comments will not help anyone right now. Send whatever positive energy you can to this family so that there will be no more tragedy in this family from this incident.
