Emotions ran high when Bryn and I meshed together in a tight embrace. Time seemed to stop as we
traveled at the speed of light across the globe to the location I’d shown her.
My mind was a tumultuous jumble of suspicions and reservations. I hadn’t anticipated the chaos that
ensued after she departed her home tonight. A part of me was grateful I’d gotten to witness how deeply
goodness ran in her. The other part of me was muddled and telling me not be so easily swayed by what I
could see, but rather to be worried about what I couldn’t.
My previous mission had been simple: find out who Bryn really was. But it turned out there were no easy
answers. She was a witch. Descendant of a powerful clan. That much I knew. But then there was the
mystery of how she could use fire. It bugged me that she couldn’t tell me who her father was. It filled me
with uncertainties about her, her family, and her background.
As it was, fire was often associated with evil entities. Rarely did beings fighting on the side of good
possess that ability. It made me question what Bryn’s mother and grandmother were hiding that they
didn’t want her to know. Something that could possibly be related to her deceased father.
