So I know someone who has tried/is using Plentyoffish.com NOT me I’m happily married and thank God I don’t have to mess with that crap. But, I had heard this person talk about it, she had met a few guys from the site that turned out to be…well…less than what was expected to put it nicely. I don’t mean looks wise because us ladies tend to take in the whole picture when we’re in our right mind.
Anywho, after hearing her talk about this site I decided I’m going to go window shop and see what kind of fish she’s dealing with. I did not join the site so I was not able to see much info. Small pics with a brief excerpt on these guys. That was enough for most of them. I told her “Damn, I went down this list and I’m doing a mental check off list: wife beater, jerk, cocky a-hole, yikes, yikes, um ok maybe, that dude looks like Lurch from the Addams family, cocky a-hole..” well you get the point.
I know online dating has become pretty popular. In fact, I know of a few people that have had successful relationships from meeting online or through the paper. I’m not putting this down, nor am I putting down people who use the site and are being serious about it. What I am talking about is this for example, oh and also I feel it a valid point to note these guys are supposed to be 28-38 yrs old:
This one guy who shall remain nameless is looks like an early 1990s version of Vanilla Ice. The excerpt I read from his profile says something to the effect of: ” girls I don’t want someone who has extra lbs on them if you are overweight don’t bother contacting me because it won’t happen” Unfortunately, my spelling and grammar was actually better than what he had typed out. So ladies, here’s a tip, avoid the a-hole.
Then contestant #2: screen name Alphamale——- with some numbers etc afterward. Saying he wants to meet a nice girl but he only wants someone good looking. Again…cocky a-hole who’s only into himself. Again ladies no…you don’t need that you deserve better. I don’t care who you are.
Then what’s behind door number 3 (reminder this is the 28-38 yrs old search) a picture of a guy with is mouth hanging open, looks like he’s yelling(screaming) hair all sticking up in the air, looks visibly intoxicated in the picture…serious relationship…grow up first k?
The guy who says “I’m not picky, I would date any woman” awesome…so you don’t really know what you want and your 37 years old. And by the way, that really doesn’t make a woman feel special.
Last but not least: Shirtless dudes with their hair covering their face. So you can show off your pecks and happy trail but you’re too shy to show a girl your nose? Oy.
I know that there are decent guys out there just looking for a chance (or a 2nd chance even). I’m not putting you down. I’m very happy I found my hubby. I wouldn’t deprive anyone else the chance of being happy in that way. Just please ladies, be careful and guys think before you type.
