Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil from Tropical Traditions is certified organic oil that can be used for so many things.  I’ve been using coconut oil for a few years, more specifically Tropical Traditions Gold Label Coconut oil and I use it now in place of many other oils.

Even though I’ve been using it for a few years, I just discovered a new use for it over the past week.  The discovery came from necessity.  I was getting ready to bake my youngest son’s birthday cake.  I was getting ready to grease and flour the cake pan when I realized I forgot to get shortening while at the grocery store.  I knew a non-stick spray just wouldn’t do the same job and I thought, great now what should I do?  Then I saw my jar of Gold Label Tropical Traditions Coconut Oil sitting by my stove and thought, “you know, that coconut oil is a similar consistency to the consistency of shortening.  I bet that would work” so I greased my pan with the coconut oil and added the flour and it seemed to work great.  The real test was going to be when I was ready to take it out of the cake pan but it worked beautifully.  I’m thinking, this is healthier than shortening too so I’ll use coconut oil to grease and flour my pans all the time now.

See the cake turned out just fine.

I also love using coconut oil for frying for recipes like chicken stir fry and frying pork chops.  The coconut oil gives a subtle flavor that really adds to the food.  This is just a couple idea but there are really 100s of ideas on the Tropical Traditions website.

Below is a video from Tropical Traditions that describes how Tropical Traditions started and how and why they make their Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil.

Tropical Traditions has lot of great organic products including eggs, meats, household cleaners, and much more.  I’ve had the pleasure of trying a few of Tropical Traditions products in the past aside from the coconut oil and I have not been disappointed yet with any of their products.

  1. I love coconut oil! So many uses! (Weirdly enough, my cat loves it, too! Any time I use some, he wants to come lick my fingers!)

  2. lol, sounds like my cats. They’ll be for chicken scraps then sniff it and walk away but they’ll sure eat my strawberries

  3. We love using coconut oil for baking, frying, popping popcorn, in our hair, on our scalp, as lip gloss etc etc. lol

  5. I’ve never used coconut oil, but have heard so many great uses for it! I have also heard that popcorn is pretty amazing when popped with it. Can’t wait to give it a try!

  6. I stir a teaspoon into my oatmeal every morning. I have noticed a change in my skin and hair. I also use it for stir fries and in place of oil on pasta.
