Which of life’s gifts are you most grateful for? – Luv Saving Money

Which of life’s gifts are you most grateful for?

It’s Christmas Eve.  We start our festivities later this evening.  My boys and I will meet my dad, sister, and niece at church for the Christmas Eve service.  We will then go directly to my dad’s house for crackers, cheese, wine (though not for this preggo this year), sparkling grape juice, summer sausage, and other goodies.  We’ll come home, the kids will spread their reindeer feed in the yard and go to bed.

When I’m sure everyone is in bed I’ll finish my wrapping and get things set up under the tree.  I’ll hopefully get some sleep but honestly I’m probably just as excited as the kids for the morning.  Only for me it will be to see their excitement and anticipate their response to some of their gifts.  And yes, I count my hubby in with the kids 🙂

Regardless of what holidays you celebrate I hope you have a great one.  I realize I’m a bit slow with saying Happy Hanukah, Happy Winter Solstice, Happy Kwanzaa, but I hope you have a good one whatever it is you celebrate.

I’ve personally never been offended by someone wishing me a Happy Holiday.  To me it’s a positive greeting and a kind wish that isn’t always expected in this day and age.  Take time to love one another.  While gifts, treats, and parties certainly are fun, it’s important for us to remember the gifts we already have.  Perhaps it’s the miracle of our children.  Maybe it’s the fact that you have a great partner to share your life with.  Maybe you have family and friends near.  And don’t forget about health.  Sometimes just the fact that you have a job and can pay your bills is what some people wish for.

We all have something to be grateful for that not everyone has.  I saw a great quote one time that goes something like:

“Some people are so poor all they have is money”

Money isn’t everything.  Having your kids swimming in presents isn’t the best thing in life.  Remember that there is always somebody in a worse position than you.  Don’t envy your neighbors.  You don’t truly know what they have and don’t have.  Be grateful for the gifts we are given in life.  Any of them can be taken away at anytime.

I thought I might end this post with asking you, What “gift” are you grateful for this year?  I don’t mean a new cell phone or a piece of jewelry. I want to know which of life’s gifts you are most thankful for during the holidays?

  1. Great post. I’m most thankful for my 13-year-old son. He’s the most amazing person in my life and he keeps me grounded in so many ways.

  2. I’m thankful for the men and women who fight to serve and protect our country every day, thankful for the friends that are there to lend a shoulder when I need it.
    Happy Holiday!
