Numi organic teas review: Shoplet.com

While most teas are made with tea dust, oils and artificial flavors, Numi Tea is real organic tea using real herbs, spices, fruits, and whole leaves from all over the world.

Numi Teas are an environmentally responsible company.  The Numi boxes are made of at least 85% post consumer waste.  The gift boxes are made with bamboo which is a renewable resource.  Also, the tea bags are made from natural filter paper that are biodegradable.  I think it’s amazing that a company is willing to make such eco-friendly choices with their products!

Beside the fact that they are environmentally responsible they also use fair labor and fair trade practices.  The workers that supply the tea ingredients are taken care of from fair pay, healthcare, housing, to education.  I think this is something that some people take for granted.
I received a sampler box of 8 different flavors of Numi Teas from Shoplet.com.  Shoplet.com offers a variety of office supplies to fit your needs.
The sample box includes the following flavors all organic and Fair Trade:
–Aged Earl Grey–Assam Black Tea scented with organic Italian Bergamot fruit
–Berry Black–includes a mix of black tea, spices, strawberries, raspberries, and raspberry leaf
–Breakfast Blend–which includes a Fair Trade Certified blend of black teas
–Gunpowder Green–which is organic hand-rolled gunpowder green tea
–Jasmine Green–Green Teas scented with organic Jasmine flower
–White Orange Spice–a blend of spices, orange peel, white tea, schizandra Berries and dried lime
–Moroccan Mint–organic Moroccan mint
–Chamomile Lemon–Lemon Myrle and whole chamomile flowers
The first one I just had to try was the Numi Gunpowder Green tea.  I had heard about how good green teas are for you.  I’ve had some green teas that tasted way to floral for me and I didn’t care for them.  I could smell the light scent of the green tea when I pulled it from it’s individual pouch (made from 72% recycled content by the way).  I let my Gunpowder Green tea steep for 3 min.  Even if I didn’t tell you what flavor this was, I bet you’d be able to guess:
The picture doesn’t justify the color.  It has a beautiful earthy green and yellow color to it.  The flavor was wonderful.  Not perfumish like some that I’ve tried.  It was very pleasant and easy to drink and enjoy.  The scent from the cup was very relaxing.
The next flavor I tried was the Numi Orange Spice tea.  As soon as I pulled it out of it’s pouch I could smell, what to me smelled like clove and perhaps cinnamon.  A light hint of orange in the mix made me feel this one would be very promising as well.  Again steeping the it for 3 min in hot water, the color of the teas are amazing:
If that’s not the color of an orange spice flavor, I don’t know what is.  I’ve tried some orange spice teas that were overwhelmed with spices and you really couldn’t taste any of the orange or other flavors.  With the Numi Orange Spice you could taste the spice almost as soon as it hit your tongue then it sort of mellows and you can taste the orange and even a little hint of the lime in the tea.
The 3rd tea from the box that I decided to review for this post is ….well I though it would be more fun to show you the picture first and see if you can guess from the list above.

Did you guess it right?  If you guessed Numi Chamomile Lemon then you are absolutely right.  You could smell the lemon very well both in the tea bag and in the cup.  It also had a slightly floral scent to it.  Of the three I tried this was probably my least favorite.  Not because it wasn’t flavorful or anything but because it had a slight floral taste to it.  If you are normally a Chamomile lover though, you’ll love this tea.
In all of the teas you could see the full dried tea leaves and fruits in the bag.  I don’t know that I’ve ever seen a tea that looked so authentic.

  1. Great review. I’m not a big tea drinker but I enjoyed Numi Tea more than I would have a regular tea. It was good for a change anyway.
