How should I handle this?

I’m a member of the Coffee Mate Brew Crew.  To make a long story short, I cashed in my point i earned for completing tasks for a $50 walmart gift card around the beginning of September.  When I placed the order it said to allow 4-6 weeks to receive the gift card. After 6 weeks I hadn’t receive the gift card in the mail.

I contacted the Coffee Mate Brew Crew customer service through email.  They said they sent it to my other email address (which I did use but had later updated my brew crew account with my other email) only a couple days after I ordered it.  As it turns out it was supposed to be an egift card not a physical card they’d mail me. I didin’t know that.  But I know I never received it.  I check both email accounts daily, sometimes several times a day.  And I make sure to check my spam folders at least once a day because sometimes my contest notifications and review offers go there.

I did searches and made sure to check both my email accounts.  When I contacted Coffee Mate again they told me that they checked with Walmart and Walmart told them that the $50 egift card had already been used she thanked me for being a part of the team but the email was rather abrupt.  Thinking that I just forgot I used it i went into my Walmart account and looked at my order history.  It said there was no orders for the past 90 days.   I could only use a Walmart egift card on Walmart.com so I wasn’t sure why if it had been used it wasn’t showing up in my account.

My next step was to contact Walmart customer service.  I told them my affilliation with Coffee Mate told them the issue I had. I asked them if there was any way to find out if I did place an order and for some reason it just didn’t show up in my account. They told me they had no record of me making a purchase in the last 90 days.  Walmarts customer service was friendly and apologized to me for the situation I was in but in the end they weren’t able to help me.  I never had the gift code number. My memory is not the best and I don’t ever want to cheat anyone.  So I went through every avenue I could think of just to make sure that I didn’t mess up somewhere.

I could have really used a $50 Walmart gift card for Christmas.  I did a lot of work of Coffee Mate hosting an office party, doing posts, etc and I feel like it was all for nothing now.

Is there another way I could pursue this or do you think I should just cut my losses?

I think you should again send them an email, thanking them for giving you the opportunity for working with them and that you never received, nor used the egift card. send them a screenshot of your walmart account showing no purchases have been made. if it doesn’t go anywhere from there just tell them you’re sorry for the confusion but that because of this matter it has made you lose enthusiasm in working for their company. I guess in the end you’ll probably just have to cut your losses. 🙁

  2. I just sent another email to them. I had a good suggestion on twitter to ask them for the used gift code number so I could contact Walmart myself to see who it was used by.

    I told them if they didn’t want to send me the code they could contact Walmart themselves with it and have Walmart email me with any info they can provide me.

  3. This is a tough situation but I would contact them again and ask for the “used” number. Explain that you’ve been very generous in blogging about them (I remember all your posts and your post about your office party) and if they won’t give it to and fix the situation, I’d make sure the rest of Coffee Mate Brew Crew was made aware of the situation as well.
